Hopefully something to look forward to this time next year!  I just raised an embarkation glass to you in honor of what should have been 🥂.

i hate to say it but im losing faith.    and it has everything to do with the country being so divided that some refuse to behove and this thing has gotten out of control.

Seaman11 losing faith? It can't be possible! Say it isn't so...

There is no doubt he has been much quieter in recent times, but was honest enough to admit he had been too optimistic re a potential return date. We have become much kinder, and understanding, in relation to his previous over optimism. Realism is setting in, and he now seems to 'get it'.

Unfortunately, this COVID 19/cruise shutdown realism is settling in for all of us. Not looking good for the rest of 2020 and perhaps well in to 2021 (let's hope not; come on vaccine!).

I'm ready to get on a ship tomorrow...even if it just goes out to see and doesn't visit any ports. Give me some great food, a drink in my hand, some entertainment/music, and spa treatment or three.... 🙂 and I'm good. I need a cruise, BAD!

I've been quiet lately too because there is honestly no joy in saying "I told you so" in this case.  I am sad for what is happening in this country and for the way people are behaving.  That said, the current situation is a result of people gathering in large groups without diligent social distancing and mask-wearing -  the SAME scenario there would have been on a cruise ship.  I bet NCL and the other cruise lines are thanking their lucky stars they did not resume cruising yet with the current state of Florida.  I get that they want the revenue, but even a single Covid death after relaunch could seriously impact cruising going forward.  No cruise line wants to be the one that has to report that first death.

So, we are all not cruising, but hopefully everyone is staying safe!  At the risk of sounding like a broken record, MASKS and SOCIAL DISTANCING do make a difference! 😷👍  (and there are other ways to vacation besides cruising!)

Cases exploded, if not for that they could have started in Aug slowly. florida and texas were having 400 cases a day with 10mil population each.  its not as if i was in denial.   I was anticipating cases to go down after an initial spike .

My mistake was thinking people were going to be careful ,behave and follow the guidelines so by august we would be in good shape.  That didnt happen :(.

you miss the back and forth arguments dont you?

I am sorry if my post upset you, but the CLIA made a call to delay cruising until at least mid-september long before the Florida spike was evident! On that basis, August was never realistic.

And, here in the UK, our record is not any better....especially in some English hotspots!

NJ gonna make you quarantine for 14 days?  Better check the list, they keep adding to it.  Virginia is the only state from the Confederacy not required to quarantine.

Hopefully you'll be allowed inside dining by that point. Where are you staying? At present we have no plans to visit AC. Without Covid we would be there every week.

I think i read no inside dining or alcohol on floor allowed.  im staying at harrahs and i dont really care for the restaurants there, i normally eat outside the casino anyway.

im going to miss the pool/gym  most as im not  much of a drinker. i dont mind take out and eating in my room , or getting it from outside the casino as i often do.   by the time i got there may be less restrictions but ill be happy as long as they dont shut it back down.

Sounds dreadful!  Hard to believe people still want to patronize under such conditions.

I guess it does for some, however, considering what many/some have been experiencing recently, it may sound pretty good.  A place to go, relax, enjoy some else's cooking.... sounds pretty good to me.

Just lookin' on the upside of things... cheers, and may you sea the brighter side of cruising too, sooner rather than later.

🥂 😉

You know what?  You're right!  Something is much better than nothing at all.  Gotta start somewhere I guess.

Happy Canada Day, BTW!
