I've just had an e mail from my Insurers (SS) saying its full cover on new/renewed policies for Covid while on holiday but not for cancellation if you get it before.  Also 15 months instead of 12 for annuals.

That would do for me. If I have to cancel the money's already spent, and I will not be any worse off than if I had gone. But what would concern me is the risk contracting it overseas and ending up in a foreign hospital for an unknown duration with medical bills totting up all the time.

That's the problem.  When you've paid out a lot of money and are unable to go and there is no cancellation, that's a major problem.

The non cancellation is only for covid, anything else and you're covered, and in most covid cancellations the cruise line will (eventually) reimburse you.

Exactly the same with me,  just renewed annual policy with SS same price as last year, but for 15 months

My specialist travel insurer has promised me some exciting news this week. Will it be that Covid-19 cover is being reinstated? Fingers and toes crossed!

Hi

I received my auto renewal notice last week.,,,,,i have pre-med conditions.

If it is AllClear the exiting news is they will give you 15 months cover if you auto renew.

But the bad news is AllClear no longer include cruise cover in any of its policies as normal.

If you are Gold+ and auto renew you have to ring to find out the cruise supplement amount.

If you are simply Gold, you can not auto renew, you have to apply for a new policy to include cruise cover.

My annual policy for the last year, which runs out on July 6th cost £410,,,,,this renewal quote for annual (Europe +Non Cruise) cost £440 which included 30% loyalty bonus.!!!

I rang for quote with cruise cover,,,,,,,,for Europe.

Gold+......£1076

Gold......£950.

Its gone up almost £550.

It also has the CV19 conditions attached that most companies are imposing.

Just googled SS but not had any luck. Can you be more specific please.

Hope you have now found it ok.  I put just SS as I wasn't sure if we were allowed to put Company names.

I'm not aware of any rules forbidding the naming of insurance companies.

Well that is odd because I renewed with All Clear, got 15 months cover (inc. cruise cover and several med. conds) and for the same price as last year. I needed to have continuous cover so my cruises booked before 12th March this year,  were fully covered inc. for CV19. Of course, any new cruises won't be covered for that.

Hi Sharon

Not odd at all.

This was with the renewal letter,,,,did you ring to include cruise cover?

Well well well - I’ve just had an email from the annual insurance I had this year saying they’re covering COVID 19 now!! Had one earlier this year saying they weren’t covering for it but I’d booked my cruise and insurance before the date stated so I was covered anyway. Trouble is I haven’t got a holiday to go on now 😢

Have you checked the small print? I had an email advising now covering for Covid but in the small print it said covers while away but not if you contract it a few days before you go, in which case you could be stuffed if they don't  allow you on board!

yes that's the problem.  Coverforyou.com no good as only up to age 70.

Yes, we are with this company and received the COVID cover attached to our current policy (cancellation, isolation and treatment) - without asking; good!

The website appears to be offering up to age 75 - I'm not sure if over 75's are automatically excluded, or if there is a premium?

Maybe we have a different level of policy from the same (they have Emerald, Diamond etc I think).

Provided that the policy was taken out before we fell ill, we would be covered as standard?
