It was a new floor plan for Fleetwood, got it fresh from the factory! 🙂 we lived in a planned community that requires any RV’s to be in enclosed garages (our home isn’t set up for one currently) - so looks like locally it’s about $100 mo parking for it, new truck, new RV, insurance, anything I am missing? OY! 😂 Of course we now have so many cruises booked and shifted to 2021 we have to figure out how to manage that much time off from what we do for a living so we likely should do an RC in 2022 😳 Edited July 17, 2020 by AlohaLivin

Planned out separate areas from simple concrete pads and storage sheds, to full size mansions in the "ritzy" area. Those have enclosed RV garages with AC. 😉 Ours is a smaller house area, but the RV port attached to the house (covered with roof and enclosed 2 sides) is open on the front end. Our land yacht sits in there with hook ups (keeping the A/C on in the Coach). Very convenient to transfer stuff in and out of the house.

Have you seen that commercial with that woman cutting down someone's plants and mailbox? That would be ours! Build a fence, cut down a tree, get permission (maybe). 💁♀️

Had me repaint the small portal decoration on my house before I closed on it after selling.... egads. There was an episode of X-Files on such a community, wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry watching it. I think perhaps the next time we need 20 acres somewhere! I guess everyone is different 😀 Some people actually like driving. When I had to travel, I would regularly visit a particular city by air. Once I asked the travel dept if I could simply drive. It's six hours one way. They said sure, it'd save the company a lot of money. Did that for years. I'm just not quite up to driving an RV. It seems like a good fit for me, maybe someday I'll give it a try. Edited July 29, 2020 by mpk
mugtech Posted July 29, 2020 #235 Share Posted July 29, 2020 Looking to travel around the Philippines, been to 10 of the over 7,000 islands. Planning for the winter of 2022-2023. Saving and resting until then, hopefully COVID19 about finished by then.
elaineb Posted July 30, 2020 #236 Share Posted July 30, 2020 We might do more escorted land tours. We did one through Italy in 2006 with Insight Tours and it was amazing. Although, the repack your suitcase every 2 nights gets old, lol. It is nice not to have to drive and have someone arrange everything for you. We went right into the Vatican to see the Sistine Chapel, right into the Colosseum and also in to see Michelangelo's statue of David, etc. These would be long lines to the everyday tourist. Our group was the best and we spent the whole trip laughing. I suppose we were very lucky.

Cruising has changed so much. Maybe it is the people, maybe the cruise line nickel and dimeing us now. Don't know. The class just is not there anymore. So it's land travel, enjoying our home more, volunteering more or putting in a pool, whatever, how blessed we are to be able to make these choices. 💛

LibertyBella Posted August 1, 2020 #247 Share Posted August 1, 2020 There are no other options to "replace" cruising---just other vacation ideas that I already do anyway! I do not expect cruising to disappear in my lifetime unless all the water in the world dries up. We are just on pause...

I do think it's not really fair. I'm perfectly capable of self monitoring or am willing to be tested upon our return. We can go to Houston which is an even hotter spot then Dallas and not report it. They can't tell us we can't leave the state of course. But they can tell us we can't return to work for 2 weeks after we return. And that quarantine time is on us, either PTO or no pay. They will not test us to clear us. A few have not self reported but if you're caught it could be grounds for termination. Since I dont want to "waste" 2 weeks of PTO i just won't leave the state. My wife too is a nurse, when we go to our summer home in Wisconsin she has to report and self monitor for two weeks too. She could have retired last year, but won’t due to the pandemic and need for healthcare worker. Thank you for you hard work, in a very trying profession. KG1924 Posted August 3, 2020 #250 Share Posted August 3, 2020 (edited) We decided to recently spend a week up in the mountains in Tennessee. We also just booked an ocean front house in North Carolina in October. We found that it was a great way to get a change of scenery and an even better way to social distance! I will say, we ventured very briefly into Gatlinburg where social distancing was pretty non-existent and mask wearing was minimal unfortunately. So we retreated back to our gorgeous cabin and stuck with hiking, golfing, and relaxing with drinks everyday. I was very surprised how much we enjoyed the slower pace of a vacation in comparison to a cruise. I expect our fall trip to the beach to be much of the same. We'll do curbside groceries on our way just like in TN and I would imagine that we will golf a few times but will spend the majority of our time back at the house. Illinois doesn't offer much in the way of great scenery, so we'll actually take the time to enjoy it. Although I do miss staring out into the middle of the ocean like we do during a cruise. Some day..... BTW-these are the very first long distance trips we've done via car. It's only my husband and I, so flying just makes sense to us. But with everything going on, we've decided to bite the bullet and drive. 8 hours to TN was a little rough....not looking forward to 14+ to NC!!
