bury me at sea Posted September 9, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2020 In checking prices this morning I found reductions on 3 of the 4 cruises currently booked. Interesting to me was the closest one, April of 2021, increased slightly. Happy sailing.

The rate is Suite Life Early Saver, but all three cabins with a price reduction are spa balcony cabins. My granddaughters love the Cloud 9 spa...

Full suite and up concierge lounge is nice and mixed drinks free at night, some have wine during the day... just more perks. Level up fast with junior suites or up. Solo gets 3 loyalty pts. Carnival being solo just bigger room not worth it for just me. $200 off isn't enough to tempt me.

It wasn't for the perks (food and drink are wasted on us) but for the extra space and whirlpool tub. I originally booked an inside spa (Canada in Sept...no balcony needed). DH wanted a balcony "just in case we're trapped at sea". So we're in a Lido Balcony. Having "saved" so much by missing "4 cruises we would have taken" my "being economical" is on-hold...lol. TA thought it was a waste of $$$ to upgrade. Oh well...I'll put my "unrealized savings" into the casino budget.

I was just going to upgrade to spa balcony....but then I remembered: With "the covid situation"...even if there is a vaccine....and even if ships sail....do I really want to get into a whirlpool with a bunch of strangers? Nah....I'm staying put.

bury me at sea Posted September 10, 2020 Author #16 Share Posted September 10, 2020 It's surprising to me I got reductions on 3 separate cruises and so few others are getting them. I will point out when checking prices, the first Early Saver fare that popped up showed no change. Under "More Options" a second Suite Life Early Saver rate code PEG was listed at a reduced price. In each case I forfeited a promotional OBC, but price matching to the reduced fare was greater than the loss of OBC by $50.

Why is that? More kids died of influenza this year than COVID. My actual point is to the poster to is waiting for COVID to go away, is that we have always cruised with various types of communicable diseases and shared hot tubs
Rare Saint Greg Posted September 10, 2020 #18 Share Posted September 10, 2020 It looks like I may be able to get a little bit out of my Mardi Gras next summer. But Nov and Dec are sold out. Feb is up 30%! And it's still a good deal. Crazy how cheap I got that one. April my class is sold out. And my Sailabration is up like $100. No. My reference to December was this December on Vista. The only one I specified a ship on was next summer on Mardi Gras. Nov, Dec, Feb all Vista. April is Freedom. Sailabration is Glory. Hogladyrider Posted September 10, 2020 #23 Share Posted September 10, 2020 Tried to check pricing on our Horizon Dec 12th 2020 cruise and the cruise does not even show up on Carnival's web site!
dottyparka Posted September 10, 2020 #24 Share Posted September 10, 2020 My 11/30/2020 sailing on Carnival Valor disappeared from the website. The first booking available is now April 2021. That's not looking to good for me... looks like my price may be reduced down to a refund. ☹️
auburn77 Posted September 10, 2020 #25 Share Posted September 10, 2020 A balcony of our type was up over $1000 (total for both of us) on Miracle in April. I booked it awhile back and glad I did.
