Rare Copper10-8 Posted September 12, 2020 #57 Share Posted September 12, 2020 I talked the other day about the ship's forklifts. These (usually four of them) are electrically powered forklifts (they get plugged in when not in use - can't have "real" engines with exhaust fumes onboard) and are stored inside the ship's Marshaling Area (mid-ships) There are certain individuals trained in how to operate them such as the provision master, assistant housekeepers, etc. As stated before, when the ships are in port, local (union) regulations prohibit the ships crew from operating them to off-load (and on-load later in the day) the various luggage cages with passenger luggage. That can only be done by a group (they actually use the term "gang") of Stevedores aka longshoremen who will come onboard on turnaround day and are usually the last to leave just prior to the ship sailing again The pics below of Statendam's forklifts show the sense of humor of the crew assigned to take care of them in that they found and applied either Ferrari or Mercedes stickers to their Formula 1 forklifts 😉

Dismomx5 Posted September 13, 2020 #62 Share Posted September 13, 2020 Good evening. A quick check in to say how much the Daily is appreciated. I'll have a chocolate milk shake, with a shot (or two) of Mint Smoothie Liqueur The mint smoothie chocolates are soooo smooth, and so is the liqueur. I ❤️ the quote! It was a busy day, so it was pizza for supper tonight. Visits from my grandson and granddaughter to celebrate Grandparents Day tomorrow. The boy made a heart hug (small wooden disk) for me to hold close to me at daycare. Tomorrow, our Church returns to indoor services with a limited number of parishioners. I'm doing the contract tracing, so need to be there early. I'll need more than a couple of alarms, methinks. LOL Blessings to all! Be well. Stay safe. Be kind.
dfish Posted September 13, 2020 #63 Share Posted September 13, 2020 Good evening, everyone. Boy those crab legs look good. I would have invited myself to join everyone, but I didn't think three crab legs would go very far. The rest of our FCC posted today, but it was very strange. There were three of us on the reservation. My sister and I both used a FCD as the deposit and our friend, as the third in the cabin, didn't have to give a deposit. So, when they sold the ship they said they would give us double on our deposit. They gave my sister and me $100 for the cost of the FCD and they split the rest 3 ways, so our friend, who paid nothing, got a FCC. It will all go to the same place unless she has to cancel out for some reason, so not a lot to argue about, but it does seem strange that she would get that. Food porn tonight: You can't visit Boston without going for cannoli. We got these at Modern.

Your babies love you very much!! Your such a good person helping at your church!! Here church services are still being held outdoors at our parks. I think starting tomorrow only 25% capacity indoors!! Now the chocolate mint liquor wow! But they won’t ship to US! So tomorrow I am doing some talking over at our BEVMO and hope I can get it!👍 Have a good evening! Denise😊

cruzn single Posted September 13, 2020 #70 Share Posted September 13, 2020 Got to attend an outdoor concert today at a local winery! Proper social distancing observed and it was great. Our county is in stage 3 “Protect our Neighbor” stage, so we can enjoy a little of life. Still cautious, but careful!. Thanks to all for beautiful pix, beautiful thoughts ,and great vibes for everyone.
