Vera/Lee Posted April 2, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2021 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will soon be issuing new guidelines for cruising's restart, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said Thursday after a call with CDC officials. Rare livingonthebeach Posted April 2, 2021 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2021 The CDC has been saying soon, imminent, impending, approaching...everyone is tired of their in the stars - just round the corner BS. 5 minutes ago, sandebeach said: Very good to hear, I just posted this on another thread. Glad to know both my Mayor and my Governor want cruises to resume. While they take different approaches and are of two different political parties, the end result will most likely be the same -- cruising is on its way back. Thanks for posting @sandebeach!

Rare twangster Posted April 2, 2021 #8 Share Posted April 2, 2021 Seems like they told the cruise lines it would be any day now about 45 days ago. Any. Day. Now. 1

The grilling the CDC director got during the Senate hearing last week may have nudged things along for real this time.
radarcruiser Posted April 2, 2021 #10 Share Posted April 2, 2021 Didn’t they say last week that the conditional sail order would stay in force until Oct 31? Also, last week the CDC director said there were multiple federal agencies that would need to be involved in deciding a return to cruising, right?

The CSO allows for cruises to sail, but the CDC has yet to provide the lines the detailed rules (technical guidelines). vegas7df Posted April 2, 2021 #13 Share Posted April 2, 2021 It would be nice to get some direction out of the CDC, this has gone on to long. I hope they know what other agencies need to be involved.

The fact she couldn’t name those agencies, and the fact she posted on Twitter a warning to Americans not to cruise in China (when we can’t even get over there now) shows how clueless she is about the cruise industry. There is is mounting pressure from many lawmakers on the CDC to get its act together.

Rare Mary229 Posted April 2, 2021 #25 Share Posted April 2, 2021 I don't think the CDC will do anything. The emergency health declaration expires this month and the new administration really wants to lift that declaration so they can claim success (thereby neutering the CDC or letting them off the hook depending on your point of view)
