Good morning.  Thanks for the Daily Report.

Interesting collection of days.  I'd love a piece of applesauce cake.  I like cheese.  I don't have a cat, so I'll hug my dog instead.

Not sure about the meal choice. 😁

Have a wonderful Friday.

Stay safe.

Good morning, everyone.

More interesting days today.  I have no cat to hug, love cheese, and would love applesauce cake if it didn't have so many carbs.

Today's meal is an ingredient.  But, an ingredient we should pay attention to carefully.   It was widely used for its medicinal an aphrodisiac properties and goes well in any salad.

Here's a great salad with arugula:   https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/arugula-salad-with-olive-oil-lemon-and-parmesan-cheese-recipe-1943201

Good morning, thanks for today’s daily Rich.  Applesauce cake sounds good for dessert but arugula for dinner? Not!  My old cat used to like a hug each morning but sadly, he is no more.  I enjoy snacking on cheese.  The wine sounds very nice, I love a good zin.  Haven’t been to today’s port and look forward to the photos.  Prayers for all those in need. Cheers for everyone who are celebrating events today.

Good Morning. We don't have a cat but our little dog is about the size of a cat. he will get his hugs today.I love cheese. Exploring varieties in a cheese shop in France was always a must when there.

I've always been a fan of Judy Collins especially when she teamed up with the songs of Leonard Cohen. Arugula is good in a salad - maybe have that with some lasagna tonight,

We had a Russian River Valley old vine zin along with our Memorial Day Steak Dinner just a few days ago - it was delicious.

Good Friday morning Dailyites. Thank you Rich for all the lists. I saw the arugula and thought what a great idea to list an ingredient then have Deb make a meal from it. And she did! Surprised the CC police didn't catch you on the drink of the day..Good morning sisters.. prayers for our friend Roy.

Gerry, I'm sorry for your loss.

Prayers. Cheers. Blessings.  Hug your cat, eat your cheese (and arugula)

Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! A great trio of days! Cats, cheese & applesauce cake! Love cats, wish Bindi did. She does like cheese, though.

Jacqui & Roy, thank you for keeping our lists!  Morning Dailyites & my Sisters. Another lovely day in the neighborhood. Everything smells different after yesterday’s rain! Love Judy’s quote. I want to meet the person who believes Arugula is a meal. I suspect it is a rabbit or perhaps a deer.  I do love it in my salad, though. Thanks for hunting down that recipe, Debbie! Can’t wait for Summer’s recipe. 😎

Today is Zumba, help a friend install something that needs two people, call a few folk to arrange for service, and call our airport transportation guru for our Iceland trip. The last is a talker, so that might take some time.🙄

Wrap up the day with happy hour at a friends and perhaps order pizza. I know it will be more than arugula!

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

**********

Today’s wine has excellent ratings. You might not be able to find the 2015 vintage locally, but pick up the one you do find - they are all rated the same. I found several online distributors for the 2016 vintage with prices starting at $35.99. @jimgev, thank you for adding personal experience- it adds a lot to the Daily wine info.

Winemaker Notes

#21 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2017

The aromas of fresh blackberry, blueberry and black cherry are balanced with hints of cracked pepper and allspice. Blackberry, nutmeg and mocha flavors lead into an intense, elegant and silky finish.

WS94 Wine Spectator: This is what Russian River Zinfandel is all about. Rich, dynamic and layered, with complex fruit, offering notes of jammy black raspberry, stony mineral, herbes de Provence and licorice. The finish unfurls at length. Drink now through 2026.

RP94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: This Russian River Zinfandel is a blend of five old-vine, dry-farmed and low-yielding vineyards from the Russian River Valley AVA with an average vine age over 100 years. It is aged in French oak, 42% new, for 16 months prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Medium to deep garnet in color, the 2015 Zinfandel Russian River is redolent of baked blackberries, dried mulberries and blueberry preserves with hints of leather and spic box. The palate is full-bodied with loads of berry preserves and Indian spice layers supported by chewy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long, savory and with wonderful poise. 1727 cases were made.

Thanks for the Daily, Rich and our morning smile 🙂

Great collection of days.  Hugging your cat is good for you so for those that can, go ahead and celebrate the day.

Cheese yum!!  Love cheeses of all kinds but I tend to get these looks as my dogs love cheese too.

Love the quote by Judy Collins.

Not sure about the meal for the day - I like a bit of arugula in a salad but not all by itself.  I have no idea what we are having for dinner tonight.  Yesterday I started out full of ambition but by the time I was done planting and the aching was coming on, I lost most of my ambition.  I did bbq steak in the pouring rain but the rest of the menu was pretty slim 😉

Today’s port is a wonderful place to visit.  We really enjoyed it and were enthralled to see Tasmania devils.  Sadly my pics are the old style.

Today’s Care List:

  • Welfare of furloughed crews
  • Garlictown recovery from arm surgery and wrist cast
  • StLouisCruisers’s DS in hospice and needs our prayers & DB’s struggle for pending heart surgery
  • St. Louis Sal’s drug trial & weakness in legs & wrists and injured tail bone from fall
  • Mary229’s 2 sisters with lymphoma.
  • NextOne’s loss of her DH, Ron
  • bennybear’s SIL diagnosed with aggressive cancer awaiting surgery
  • smitty34877’s Tana fever returning
  • The souls of the 215+ indigenous children found at Kamloops Indian Residential School.
  • ger_77’s favourite uncle sad death due to covid

Prayers for them all

Garden Club participants - for those of you that get overly ambitious and over do it like I do ending up with a sore back, I find Salonpas patches really help.  Apply, sleep, remove and have a hot bath or shower and you’ll start to feel up to overdoing it again 😉

Thank you for the TGIF Daily, Rich.  I don't have a cat to hug.  My most common lunch is ham and cheese sandwich.  Applesauce cake sounds nice.  The Collins quote seems a bit strange.  I've been to Australia several times but never to Burnie.  Arugula sounds more like a side dish than a meal.  My alternative is Pineapple Boat, Baked Ricotta Stuffed Shells, and Black Forest Cake as served on MS Prinsendam June 4, 2015.

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Teachers, school workers and at home surrogates

Front Line Health Care Workers

Jabs for HAL crew (While we haven’t heard specifically I suspect Ft. Lauderdale and Los Angeles besides San Diego)

Bi-rnational atrocities coming to public awareness, Kamloops and Tulsa

HorizonChaser1957 new scarf

Cruising-along’s visit with grandsons

rain for Ormand Beach

durangoscott’s mountain lion continuing south

Sharon’s getaway to the mountains

Cherished memories of Ger_77's uncle

Celebrating the life of Ron, NextOne DH

My continuing improvement

and Sabine, HAL’s likely first female Captain(I know this is a repeat but she’s worth it)

Happy Friday!  Love applesauce cake, much to her dislike really hugged our cat and cheese is always good.  Great quote.  Will pass on the meal, not a fan of Arugula.  Have not been to today's port, the long plane ride discourages that.  Maybe a cruise someday.

Another rainy day expected.  My fruit trees are loving it.

prayers and toasts for our lists.
Stay safe, social distance, and continue to wear your mask.

Today's drink is unique.  The creator was a bartender who thought it was what a "star" would order.  The scent is said to smell like perfume.

Pornstar Martini:

Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces vanilla-flavored vodka
1/2 ounce passion fruit liqueur (such as Passoã or De Kuyper)
1 ounce passion fruit puree
1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 ounce vanilla simple syrup
2 ounces sparkling wine, chilled
Garnish: 1/2 passion fruit

Steps
Add all ingredients except sparkling wine into a shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled.
Garnish with a passion fruit half.
Serve with a sparkling wine sidecar (on the side).

Very interesting drink, Summer. The “garnish with a passion fruit half” throws me. I might try a slice.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily report.  Definitely enjoy a good applesauce cake and there is always bars of cheese in the refrigerator.  Today is also national doughnut day.  Have the afternoon off and hope to get some birthday shopping done while DH is at work.  With seven cats in the house it’s always hug a cat day.

The newest member of the family enjoys my lap.

Thank you.  I prefer to think of my anniversary as tomorrow, starting from when I came home.  I think I'm also about ready to resume the care list, probably Sunday as Saturday mornings are quite busy for me and the care list is a lot to digest right now.

I get it Roy! Sort of like today is the anniversary of the ending of one chapter, and tomorrow is the anniversary of the start of your new chapter!

Good  morning. Thanks  for  our  lists, recipes  quotes, ports  and  the  Daily. It  is  a  very  humid day  here  after an  exciting  thunderstorm  last  night. It  set  all  the  dogs  on  the  street  barking. I  would  enjoy  the  arugula  either  in  a  salad  or  with the  tuna  and  pasta  but  I  fear  DH  would  look  very  sad  to  see this  coming  his  way.  Applesauce  cake  would  be  nice  and  I  have  to  pretend  the  cheese  is  NOT  in  the  refrigerator. There  are  many  many  kitties  around  here:  four  next  door  with  DD  and  DSIL  and  3  who  live  outside. They  provide  us  with  endless  entertainment. Only  two  of  them  would  like  hugs....I  have  tried.

Tana  continues  to  have  good  days  and  bad  but  is  working  her  way  through  various procedure/test appointments. We  take  turns  driving  her  and  waiting  outside  as  the  Bronx  hospital  she  works  for and  goes  to  as  a  patient  does  not  allow  anyone  else  in  yet. Some  of  the  news  has  been  quite  concerning but  we  are  trying  to  be  patient  and  wait  for  a  treatment  plan. Unfortunately  she  has   had  high  fevers a  few  times  since  being  home. The  more  I  learn  about  "long  haul Covid", the  more  I  worry  for  her  and  for  countless  others  going  through  the  same  thing.

Tonight  I  am  making  cheese ( yes)  and  bean  enchiladas  for  the  whole  family. It  will  be  wonderful  to  see  everyone  around  the  table.

Good Morning Everyone from a warm but overcast day at the beach.

Love applesauce cake and cheese. Dont have a cat. I like arugula but I would prefer the alternative meal  today.

I am still a fan of Judy Collins music. Went to a few of her concerts years ago.

Burnie is a scheduled stop on our booked trip for 2022, so anxious to see the pictures. Hope Australia is open !  @summer slope I hear you about the flight back. We are going to try and break it up. It is going to be a challenge but ....

Much fanfare at Port Canaveral this AM. The "Mardi Gras" arrived accompanied by the " Liberty" and 'Freedom".  Hundreds of people were there along the jetty. It was quite a site coming across the bay. The Mardi Gras is one big ship. I will probably never go on her, as I prefer HAL and smaller ships. But nice to see!

     Water aerobics today.

Stay safe and enjoy today.
