September of 2022. It was Carnival Vista a b2b out of Galveston. We were going to visit family in Houston and some were coming on cruise. We are all medical field so really needed this little reunion but we all decided we would not enjoy ourselves with masks on a vacation. The islands wont disappear.

Just more ammunition for RCI. I just wish Royal would piss or get off the pot. Keep the un-vaxxed off their ships and we can all enjoy ourselves with a cruise experience that Celebrity and Carnival are offering. If they ever do sail, NCL will offer the same cruise vacation as Carnival and NCL ALL OUT OF FLORIDA. 3

Are you sure those cruises to Alaska and from Galveston are at least 95% vaxxed? It makes no sense at all to have fully vaccinated people masking up for 5% unvaxxed on board. That is against CDC guidelines.

They're requiring anyone over the age of 16 in July and 12 in August to be vaccinated. But Royal has said nothing of them hitting the needed 95%. Serenade has a test cruise scheduled. My friend is on the first ovation cruise and was emailed the protocols including mask wearing inside except for vax only locations. They're the exact same as Freedom rules except the mandatory vaccinations. I'm assuming Royal is anticipating more than 5% being too young - maybe they decided on the same protocols for all ships though that's less likely as Harmony in Europe is requiring masks even outside. Iamcruzin Posted July 10, 2021 #112 Share Posted July 10, 2021 (edited) No sense arguing over mask or no mask, vaccinated or unvaccinated. Anyone who booked a cruise for startup knew that there would be protocols and issues in the beginning. If you don't like the rules cancel your cruise and wait it out like the rest of us. The more I read these threads with the ever changing protocols and covid testing requirements the happier I am that I don't have anything booked. It shoulds like an on board nightmare and a lot of precruise stress. I never felt stress planning a vacation. That is just plain silly. Have the kids mask up, not the adults. But that just seems to logical. They are following the science and listening to the experts. sellwingri Posted July 10, 2021 #115 Share Posted July 10, 2021 There are so many locations that unvaccinated passengers can’t go (casino, most bars, shows except for those designated just for the unvaccinated, etc) that the only time I’ll have to wear my mask is walking inside on the ship and shopping. What are your qualifications to say CDC what the experts recommend is silly? There is no science there. I have absolutely no qualifications other than I read the CDC website to see what the latest guidelines are for vaccinated people. I was basing my comments on the CDC guidelines that are in place on land for fully vaccinated people. Any cruise that sails with at least 95% vaccinated, vaxxed people do not have to mask up. THAT is the science and that comes from the CDC guidelines in the CSO. Ask those people who sailed on the first Celebrity ship OUT OF FLORIDA what it was like to transverse the ship without having to mask up. THAT is the science I'm talking about and those are not my rules. Edited July 10, 2021 by coffeebean

Heck, just a day or two ago they stated schools don’t need to mask the vaccinated kids. Why the cruise ship double standard? It’s certainly not science. BTW my qualifications are 30 plus years of internal / acute care medical practice. 7

The situation in the USA is different from many other places, the WHO paints with a very broad brush, hence the WORLD in their title. I wouldn't count their advice as applicable to all areas. One can look at the numbers (hospitalizations and deaths) in this country and easily conclude that the vaccinated do not have much to worry about with the Delta variant. Ahh, ok, so the World Health Organization are "kind of" experts, but the CDC are the real experts. Im curious, do you look at the unvaccinated and think less of them?
