I watched it on You Tube, the pictures were good but neither of the commentators had a clue about Iona, especially the "expert" Emma, who didn't even know how many decks there were !

Agreed. She was more interested in talking about Costa and Princess. Watched it through the TV and had to turn the sound right down.

She needed a brass band like the olden days to make it special........

Then again we were on Celebrity Silhouettes first proper cruise and

there wasnt even a deck party so its nothing new to play it down and that was before a pandemicwand now am guessing they don't want people gathering...

A brass band probably doesn't fit with the general vibe of Iona but they could have had some local musicians to send her off and either some interesting quayside lighting or low-impact pyrotechnics as she pulled away.

It did look like there was something going on aboard her both in the Skydome and the topmost open decks right at the aft.

Yes, considering that Emma sets herself up as an expert, she was utterly useless. No idea how big the atrium is, how many or what sort of specialist restaurants on board or even the duration and destination of the maiden cruise. As you might have picked up previously, I have no intention of sailing on Iona but even I know more about her than Emma!

Apparently there was a lone Piper on the quayside. Just seen a bit of video posted on that well-known social media site taken on the upper open decks as she left and it didn't look like there was any atmosphere at all. Someone on-board also posted that there wasn't a deck party of any sort and just the usual entertainment inside the ship.

Seems they are keeping everything back until the Celebration Night when they are off of the isle of Iona. Any fireworks then will I am sure be much appreciated by the island's 150 residents...

Gary's been and gone but they must have a tribute act somewhere in Southampton.

She's not the only one ,some wannabe stars of the Tube reporting no USB sockets on such a

new ship ! Really ??  :classic_unsure:  Try looking on the underside of the bedside lamps

Or the film on Britannia stating that "the bathrooms are really showing their age " :classic_ohmy:

On a six year old ship :classic_wacko:

Goodness knows what they would say about the 30 year-old ship I am booked on next year, let alone the two that were over 50 years-old when I sailed on them...😄

What did you search for on Youtube to find those videos? Or were reporting that on social media?

Morning Kalos, if you happen to come across any videos which show the suites on Iona, mainly the aft ones would you be kind enough to give me a shout🙂 I also struggle finding what I am looking for when using YouTube, might need to upgrade to a new TV. 😆

I'm on Iona bobbing about for seven days in September.

I was looking at Ambers blog (she is mentioned above), and have a query about conservatory mini suites as I think one of her statements could be wrong.

I know this will sound trivial, but it's my treat... Amber says there is sparkly stuff, chocolates and flowers in mini suites, but I can't find any reference elsewhere.  They start my cruise with a feeling of luxury, and if they aren't there I might order them

Hope this doesn't sound petty.... but just a little thing I like and something like that won't spoil anything for me :classic_rolleyes:

Thankyou for the figures .Obviously that was capped .Do you think if they had been able to go more they would have filled it

Only if it proves safe to do so, they cannot afford to get this wrong but so far so good .
