The trip to Michigan has been delayed.   Due to strong storms there is a power outage at my sister's, where I was going to stay.   Time of restoration is 6:30 am on Sunday!   That doesn't work well for someone who uses a CPAP at night.  So, I'm holding off until tomorrow and reassessing then.  I tried to get a hotel room, but there are none for Saturday night.  Apparently there is a big concert over in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday.

Will you be able to add some time at the end of the trip to make up for the missed day?

These are what the Rodne sightseeing boats look like.  They're right there in the harbor with the cruise ships.  I hope the cruise ship I noted in the photos was actually the Prinsendam.  I went by the coloring but I see by my photos that Cunard was there with us and the coloring is similar.  Anyway this is the boat we took on our fjord tour.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJ-XwWI9Pv4R58Fer4OsiwI?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468071369

One of the cutbacks on ship is no paper final bill.  I’ve been watching the statement change on the app.

If one doesn't have a smartphone, is there another way to see changes after the cruise? Can always do screenshots from my laptop while onboard.

Good morning everyone. Glad your internet is back, Rich. I will certainly celebrate elephants. They are so smart. Did you know they can cry which they do if an elephant dies.

Thank you all for your comments yesterday about Sam’s progress. It continues to amaze me. Yesterday my daughter picked him up so he could visit with his grandsons.

Today is another scorcher.

Stay safe out there.

Carol

@kazuJacqui, your gardens full of flowers have the gardens in Stavanger beat!  Good job!

@dfishDebbie, sorry about the delay but I think you made the right decision.  I hope you can spend a little extra time there.

@mamaofamiCarol, the news of Sam's progress is amazing and heartwarming.  We're so happy for you and your family.

Thanks for the Daily, Rich & our Thursday smile 🙂

Hoping that the clouds clear tonight so we can see the meteor shower. Elephants are worthy of our celebration and protection.  Such wonderful creatures:

Love the Julia Child quote - so typical of her 😉

It’s going to be unbelievably hot here today.  So, we’ll pass on the meal suggestion and opt for hamburgers on the bbq, I think.  DH can get to test the new dill slices I did up 😉

@richwmnglad you got your internet back (at least, for the most part) & @rafinmdthanks always for the Care & Celebratory lists.

Stavenger is on next year’s itinerary so 🤞 we are going.  We’ve certainly been planning for it. 😉

Those big daylilies are still blooming.  They don’t die like most after the first day.  They are huge.  To put it in perspective, here’s a pic of them on the left and the lilies on the right.

and up close.

Of course, the lilies are giving them a battle to be the biggest flower in the garden 😉

And we know they are the winner.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a great Thursday, everyone!!!

Thank you for persevering, Rich! I will happily toast all the elephants of the world.

Thank you for our lists Roy! Morning Dailyite family! @lindaler - Linda congratulations on selling your house! I bet the new owners are as thrilled as you are!🥂

A lovely morning. We are keeping our eyes on Fred, though we expect to just get rain.  I am hoping this is my last week of “zombie leg”. I will raise a glass of Grandma juice when I can bend my knee. Maybe two.

@dfish, Debbie sorry about the delay - please be sure to add enough time to your visit.

Prayers to all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

Cave L'Aurance 2015 Brut Milléseimé (Crémant de Bourgogne)

Looking for a reasonable non-champagne champagne? This sparkler from Burgundy has excellent ratings. You might not find the 2015 vintage locally, but I found one online distributor asking $15.95 for the 2016 vintage. Not a bad deal at all.
Winemaker’s Notes

Burgundy's version of classic French Champagne, the grapes are hand harvested followed by malolactic fermentation for the base wine. Base wines are blended, then receive the traditional "liqueur de tirage" and a yeast primer at bottling. Prise de mousse, the second yeast fermentation in bottle follows. 16 -18 month maturing period occurs with mechanical remuage, the slight turning movement required to move the yeast deposit toward the neck of the bottle. Following dégorgement, freezing the neck of the bottle, and dosage, topping off the bottles with a "liquer d'exception," the wine is aged for an additional few months. There you have it, the recipe for non-Champagne, Champagne from Burgundy!

The Wine Buyer: 91 Points

"This is BY FAR the best cremant we have tasted in recent memory! Super clean flavors of apples, pineapples and a hint of toast are carried elegantly by the fine mousse. A nice subtle intensity to the flavors last through the lip smacking finish."

Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points

"An initial whiff of rye bread on the nose of this wine comes with saltiness that's taken over by fruitier, riper Mirabelle plum. The palate unites these notions in one smooth, frothy, fresh but rounded package. Fine and smooth, the foam add further charm to this rounded richness."

Good morning Dailyites and many thanks for the Daily Rich.

Last night was a late, late night. The girls stayed 2 hours later than normal after Mahjongg. Took our Elvis for a ride (he's our golf cart) it was a beautiful evening.  Packed some dog treats and passed them out to the "kids". They all know us now and jump onto our seat for the treats. Picked up some walking neighbors and brought them back here for a nightcap. I think the last person was dropped off at midnight.

Today we meet our contractor at the tile shop to choose our walk in shower tiles, then to meet several couples at Fish City Grill. There's 2 friends having Birthdays Saturday and Monday. I'll save Debbie's recipe for a cooler night.

Praying for all of those on Roy's care list. Toasting to our celebration list.

First I would like to show you what the lovely homes in Old Stavanger look like.  They are adjacent to the harbor where the ships dock.  I took photos of all the beautiful doorways with the flowers at their peak, and used those photos to make a wall calendar the following year, with my Shutterfly account.  Everyone I gave one to loved it.  You can see the Prinsendam in the background.

Sandi @StLouisCruisers - what a great idea and beautiful pictures!

We have also been to Stavanger and took the Rodne tour of the Lysefjord ... a great day.  (We purchased this tour direct from Rodne before leaving home.)  Our pictures would be almost exact duplicates of yours ... 😁

Good Morning. Rich, I'm glad your internet is back. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to post the dailies and thank you Roy for the sme dedication to post the lists.

I am very inpressed with Jacqui's garden It is beautiful.

I will pass on the meal suggestion - it would be wonderful on a cold winter day but today is not the day for a hearty soup. Not sure about the drink. I like stout and champaign but together?

So many places are under heat warnings today while we are getting ready for a tropical storm which will likely just be a big rain event.

Stay safe everyone.

Great minds think alike!  We bought our tickets online from home too.  Same with the Flaam railroad and Geiranger bus ride to the top of Mt. Dalsnibba.  Saved a ton!

Good morning from central Texas.  While both the east and west coasts are having heat waves, after tomorrow, our highs are predicted to be in the low to mid 90sF, instead of our normal triple digits. However, the heat index has been in triple digits the last several afternoons.

Elephants need to be celebrated and protected.  Hopefully it won't be cloudy tonight so we can watch the Perseid meteor shower.  In the late 1990s, we were in Price, Utah, and while giving the dogs their last walk of the day, the meteor shower at its peak with several meteors a minute.  All I can say is WOW,

The Julia Child quote is good.  The soup will be good on a cooler day.  I'll skip the drink, but will keep the wine in mind for a celebration.

@dfish  Debbie, I'm sorry you have to delay your trip.  Hope your sister gets her power restore sooner than predicted.

@richwmn  Rich, I'm glad you had your internet back enough to post the Daily.

@kazu Jacqui, your flowers always amaze me.  I enjoy the pictures especially since I have a brown thumb.

While we've been to many ports in Norway, we have not been to Stavanger.  @StLouisCruisers Sandi, thank you for sharing your pictures.

There was quite a lot of scenery included on this tour and I would recommend it.  I can't show it all.  Hope you enjoyed the Lysefjord tour!

It looks like a face also in that heart!

Great minds think alike!  We bought our tickets online from home too.  Same with the Flaam railroad and Geiranger bus ride to the top of Mt. Dalsnibba.  Saved a ton!

Good morning.  Happy your internet is back Rich.  We miss your input.  Thank you Roy and Debbie for your lists.  Just love this happy place.  The meal sounds and looks good, will save it for another day as it's too HOT for soup.  Have not been to Norway, really looking forward to photo's.

Today is haircut day.  Much needed.!

Prayers and toasts to our lists.

Stay safe, continue safe distance and mask wearing.

Thanks for the information.  However I have never liked beer.   My favorite  drinks and always in

moderation: Whiskey Sour, Whiskey and water, White Russian, Mai Tai, and Brandy Alexander.

If one doesn't have a smartphone, is there another way to see changes after the cruise? Can always do screenshots from my laptop while onboard.

I’m not aware of an option to see it on the HAL website.  I use both tablet and phone to access the app.
