I haven't been to today's destination. Thanks for the outstanding pictures. Makes me want to visit there!

It's going to be hot here all week, but I won't complain seeing the damage and floods others are experiencing.

 

Well, things seem to be happening here. Last night I was eating and felt something hard; my onlay on a molar fell out. It had fallen out in April and my dentist reglued it, telling me if it happened again I'd need  a new one made. He retired in July due to health issues. He had recommended 2 dentists, neither of whom are in my Dental plan. The offices I called all have 3-4 week waiting lists or aren't taking new patients. I'm on a cancellation list. I don't have pain, but I'd like to not wait so long. Argh! And my left eye is flaring due to the uveitis. My MRI and x-rays aren't until late afternoon.

DD tells me my DGS Tyler who is the same grandson who had his belated graduation ceremony this month, is having surgery on his back tomorrow.  He has been suffering for a while now.   I heard something about a gym injury but I'm not sure.  Anyway they have to make a small incision and shave off a disc which is protruding into a nerve.  Up until now he has only gotten relief from epidural shots but that can't go on forever.  So a few prayers for this 23 year old for his surgery tomorrow would be appreciated.

 

Dubrovnik, Croatia is a beautiful port and a great one on any cruise of the Adriatic Sea.  We were there in 2012 on Crown Princess and in 2017 on the Westerdam.  The first time we met a young couple who were both dentists in the Army.  They went on a tour I set up in Naples and we hung out a lot in the ports of call on that cruise.  In Dubrovnik we took a cab from the ship to the Old City and walked the city walls together.  

 

 

 

You get quite the views up there.

On the 2017 visit we took a taxi with friends again to the Old City, but we walked back to the ship after our time spent there.  It was a nice hot August day, too, so we were pretty tired when we got back to the ship.  Going to dinner at 8 pm we stuck our head outside and took some nice sunset photos.

Good Afternoon All, thanks for the daily report.  Henri spared us any damage.  We got about a half inch of rain and some wind, nothing too serious.  I hope that those who got hit hard are safe and get any help they need.  @dfishthe meal does look good!  @kazumaybe some wine instead of beer, I’m running low on white.   I hope that everyone has a nice day today.  Back to work for me!

Good morning, all!  Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes.  When I was lying on the floor this morning at exercise waving my legs in the air, I thought maybe I was 27!  Then I saw the picture Tony posted,  and I realized I'm not - I have turned into my mother.  One lady at exercise had her 91st  birthday yesterday, so I might have a little way to go, anyway.

 

I will be thinking of Tyler and his surgery, @StLouisCruisers, back surgery is scary.  I'll be praying it is a great success.  Hope everyone being visited by Henri has just a mild encounter!  @JazzyV, hope that tooth problem stays minor, and your eye feels better soon.

 

We went to Dubrovnik for the first time in 2019 on Koningsdam - we had a tour into Bosnia, but had a stroll in Dubrovnik in the evening.  It is a beautiful area.  

 

I'm not a fan of tomatoes, so I will stick with sangria and skip the sangrita!

We’ve been to Dubrovnik three times.  The first was in 2005 while aboard the Rotterdam.  We were scheduled to return on the Eurodam in a little over a month, but we’ve decided to cancel that cruise until things calm down a bit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When we visited in 2006, some of the locals were showing visitors some folk dances.

 

 

 

 

 

 

On our first visit, we were told that if you drank water out of this fountain, you would return to Dubrovnik in the future.  I tried to talk DW out of it, but she drank the water and sure enough we returned the next year.

Is it a gold inlay or a white porcelain inlay? The type of dental cement is possibly the reason for no discomfort! My concern is possible fracturing the tooth. Go online to Amazon 

Get Orthodontic dental wax. You can place a small amount inside the void press with finger, tap, tap to make sure bite is good and it will get you by till appt.

I wonder if @JazzyVcould find the wax at the pharmacy?  Or stop in at an orthodontist office and ask them for a small amount for an emergency?  I remember having that on hand as an orthodontic patient.

 

Your new door and driveway gate are so nice!  I love them both.  I would want to stay in Hawaii permanently if I had such a gorgeous home there.

We have been to Dubrovnik 3 times and will be there again on our next cruise this fall.  I love all of Croatia.  The first time was pre-digital, so no photos but we just wandered around on our own that day.  The second time was in 2019 and we took a tour to 4 wineries, the third time we took a tour into Bosnia.

Since we had been to Dubrovnik multiple times, the last time we were there we also visited Mostar. What an interesting drive it was with all the passport checks as well as the lovey scenery along the coast. It was a fascinating day!

We have been to Dubrovnik a few times and think it’s a great port stop.

I’m not really a Game of Thrones fan, but still was super amused last time we climbed the tower and lo and behold... a girl in spot-on Khaleesi costume.

Even her body language was perfect “Mother of Dragons.”

Whew! It's been a long day since I was tackling a chore that takes a while, but fortunately, it doesn't have to be done but once a year or two,.  I needed to polish the silver.  😖  We are part of the generation where you got silver, china and crystal for wedding presents, and I think my parents' friends thought we would be entertaining lavishly and often.  We only used some things at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I quit using it about 30 years ago when I realized everyone was having fun while I was hand washing the dishes.  The DDs don't want any of it, so I probably need to find something to do with it.

 

@JazzyV Vanessa, I'm sorry about your tooth.  I was going to suggest getting dental glue at a pharmacy, but @DeeniEncinitas Denise came to the rescue.  DH does carry dental glue with him on cruises, and has needed to use it a couple of times.

 

When we were in Dubrovnik on the Prinsendam in 2016, we hired a taxi to take us to Kotor, Montenegro.  We had to find one who had his passport with him, and we had to allow enough time in case the border checkpoints (two each way) were backed up.  It was a beautiful drive, and before many cruise ships 🚢 were calling there.

 @DeeniEncinitas Denise - thanks for the information. It's a ceramic onlay (I think bigger than an inlay). I see GUM orthodontic wax in a local drugstore; would that work? I don't think I could try to glue it back in. I'd probably aspirate it!

I take my own personal dental hygienist with me on cruises.   So far she hasn't had to do anything.  For that, I am thankful.

Yes GUM is perfect!! No to the glue. Also try eating on opposite side too!! If need be you will probably replace it from time to time. Just be careful of hard things and soft chewing!👍

I am trying to help save you possible additional charges. Number one you don’t want to fracture the enamel. Could possibly become a full ceramic crown and possible build up. Hopefully just another inlay or onlay and they can do a bonding with a light for cementing👍
Cements are used for gold restorations and porcelain crowns with a gold base. I hope they are doing light cured ceramic onlays and crowns using a computer! Either way I pray they get you in soon!!
