Where Did Everyone Go?

We'll be on the 5N on Nov 15th. Still quite disappointed that after the failed plan to sail in Israel, RC didn't reinstate our "original" 9N inaugural US sailing. The shortened sailing is pricey, although we've had a few small price adjustments, and it's only sailing to the private islands. Now in all likelihood it's not doing Labadee,  but no word on any changes yet.

Do you know what's happening on the "missing" 4 nights on Nov 11-15. At one time in my account, it showed a 2N Trade Event.  Later it disappeared. Flying in for a 5N can be pricey and usually not worth it,  but we got a good deal on a 6N to do sort of a S2S with an overnight hotel stay in between.

Not sure what's happening on Nov 11th. My calendar just shows that we are docked in Fort Lauderdale for 5 days...

If someone wanted to get married on the Odyssey where would you recommend for the service?

Is there any area similar to Central Park on the Oasis class?

I know someone who got married on Anthem and they were given the Conference Center.  Would not be my first choice.  I have seen pictures of another wedding that was held in the Music Hall.  They didn't put up any background or anything on the stage and it just looked blah.  Two70 would definitely be my first choice.

We went on allure of the seas a couple weeks ago at 1/3 capacity. It was a ghost ship. Not fun at all. The people create the energy of anything. It was boring. We wont go again untill capacity is much much higher. Seems like its cool at first to be empty but its not.

Enjoy it, you will likely never see it again.  🙂

Hopefully it never does because its boring with out people. Stay home and be a hermit. Cruising is not meant to be a solo thing. Again, unless you are a hermit

Not many people want to jump through all the hoops that the cruise line and cdc are putting in place to allow us to get back to regular life.

I used my Magic 8 Ball and it said no idea what "regular life" will look like. At the rate requirements are changing, it may take a few years before we really know.

I for one, am happy to jump through hoops to travel because it beats sitting at home another 18 months

Couldn’t agree more. If I can have oasis as my semi personal yacht for a week and have then take me to coco cay to my own personal club, feed me every day, do a few shows for me, make my bed and clean my toilet….for a couple thousand bucks compared to sitting around here pissing and moaning l am ALL OVER IT.

No kidding. Sounds like a whole new level of luxury, peace and relaxation for me. I could win all those crappy trivia prizes myself. (Dreaming of highlighters and zipper pulls). All the Kummelweck sandwiches. First row seating at EVERY. SINGLE. SHOW. No waits for slides, ziplines, rock walls, just no waits. My own personal clamshell up in the Solarium. Also, my own clean and private giant hot tub in the Solarium.

Or Quantum class and try one of those north star rides.  Just getting warmed up here, but alas, unless this goes on until next summer, seems unlikely for us.

Strange vibes onboard Odyssey Of The Seas this week. Only 542 passengers. Ship is very quiet...

Chris,

Do you know if a large portion of the returning cruisers are casino comped cruises?  We were on a Celebrity ship a couple of weeks ago and the Casino was the busiest place on the ship.

Sailed Celebrity Equinox Aug 1st with about 40% capacity, it was glorious. Boarding Allure Sept 19, looking forward to it…

Yes, it certainly seems that way. Casino is by far the busiest venue on the ship.

Immunocompromised people (which is practically anyone over 50 years old, i.e. the majority of people at a point in life not to be tied to a school schedule due to a dependent minor) are still advised to avoid cruises.

Much of the US is still unvaccinated and apparently in no hurry to become so.  People are aware that small numbers of cases are appearing on most of the ships so far taking passengers.

Both of these statements are wildly inaccurate at best

I’m happy to hop on the odyssey in 30 days when my liberty cruise is supposed to happen if you can get royal to swap the 2 bedroom I have on liberty for odyssey…..without me having to pay another 15k.

That's how I got my OS on Odyssey, swapped from Indy. Worked out great.

Sucks for Royal, but man I am looking forward to an empty ship in 2 weeks.

I've gotten two completely dead weeks at Disney World this year too (which has been lucky because they have had some crazy busy times as well). I feel for all the companies and people that aren't making what they used to, but I've had a ton of great low crowd vacations at a discount in the last 15 months. Of course, I've had to cancel/change many as well.

Did your Indy get cancelled for them to make and offer the swap or was it a “ship swap” when the Indy went to galveston?  I’m supposed to be on liberty next Sunday but we still have no idea if it’s going or will be cancelled.
