ilovetotravel1977 Posted September 4, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2021 I thought it might be helpful if we had one thread that we compile for testing information. Perhaps we could note the city/town and province at the top of each post for ease of reference. Halifax, NS: Praxes Medical (praxes.ca) PCR COVID Testing $159.00 + HST (lab-based, includes Travel Certificate) Rapid COVID Antigen Test $69.00 + HST (includes Travel Certificate) PCR + Rapid Antigen Test $199.00 + HST (includes Travel Certificate for each test) Switch Health (switchhealth.ca) PCR $160+HST (1-2 days turnaround) Antigen $75+HST (30-45 minutes turnaround) Rockdoc Inc (rockdocinc.ca) Antigen $104.99+HST (30 minutes turnaround) RT-PCR (rapid PCR) $184.99+HST (next day turnaround) RT-PCR (rapid PCR) $349.99+HST (same day turnaround) *INSANE PRICE* 4

gubby Posted September 4, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2021 Thanks for starting this. It is so helpful. A few weeks ago, I tried looking up places in Kingston, but got too frustrated. I will try again tomorrow, and add any I find. Although our next attempt is not until April, it is a TA leaving from FLL. Will any of these rules still apply? We have mixed doses so need to get answers before final payment. Nikki

And 4 locations do the PCR test if that is what is required for travel (currently some cruise lines allow you to cruise unvaccinated but you need a PCR Test). The locations are: Carling Ave, Bank Street, Walkley Road, Montreal Road

I think the actual testing facility is located in the Value Park garage so it should be easier to access than going into the airport itself. ilovetotravel1977 Posted September 5, 2021 Author #12 Share Posted September 5, 2021 Just to add to my previous post, Maple.ca is the company in partnership with Switch Health in Halifax and Greater Toronto area. They told me they do a RT-PCR test for $159 HST included Not sure why that info isn’t noted on Switch Health’s website. They only note the Antigen and regular PCR testing info.
3Shelaghs Posted September 8, 2021 #13 Share Posted September 8, 2021 I am now convinced, these Covid tests are what is going to refill the government coffers for all the CERB paid out!! These prices are ridiculous, surely the Cdn govt has shares or owns these labs and kits.
ilovetotravel1977 Posted September 8, 2021 Author #14 Share Posted September 8, 2021 The high prices are also to help dissuade us from traveling.
Fouremco Posted September 8, 2021 #15 Share Posted September 8, 2021 For most travel, a Shoppers or similar $40 antigen test will suffice. Given the cost of a cruise or a stay at a resort, even a PCR test in the $150 range is hardly an obstacle. JMO.
Mud_Shark Posted September 8, 2021 #16 Share Posted September 8, 2021 Right now, from what I read online at the SDM website, the $40 antigen test is only available in Alberta and Ontario. Don

ilovetotravel1977 Posted September 9, 2021 Author #18 Share Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) The cheapest antigen test in Nova Scotia is the $69+tax one I noted at the top. Since my DH isn't vaccinated, my vacation budget has been cut in half, so what's 80 bucks??! lol Edited September 9, 2021 by ilovetotravel1977

Munday Posted September 9, 2021 #20 Share Posted September 9, 2021 For anyone in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, I saw a sign outside this Pharmacy in my neighbourhood. Ginnyfyr Posted September 10, 2021 #21 Share Posted September 10, 2021 Here in Hamilton, SDM offers the antigen testing for $40. If a PCR test is needed, the cheapest I have found is Sherman Specialty Pharmacy on Rymal & Upper Sherman for $160 (they also do antigen testing for $60). https://shermanpharmacy.ca/covid-19-testing.html
