Last hurdle cleared! Binax AG testing experience

I passed my COVID test this morning and have cleared the last hurdle for Ovation of the Seas to Alaska this week.   I cant say enough positive things about whole experience using the test kit from eMed.   I signed on early this am and was quickly routed to a test monitor within  a minute. I opened the package in front of the test monitor and and added the 6 drops of solution to the test card. The simple test was taken via 5 swabs to each nostril and inserted into the test card.  A 15 minute timer was set and after the 15 minutes were up, the monitor came back on and verified the results.   They were immediately sent to the Navica app and also a PDF file to email for printing.  Literally the easiest option of all.   Im breathing a BIG sigh of relief!   I will be LIVE from Ovation come Friday.  🙂    my bucket list trip appears to be a go!

Are you a day early to verify or am I messed up?

We could test as early as Tuesday for a Friday cruise 🙂    My ship departs Seattle at 6pm on this Friday the 10th.  Two day rule doesnt start until September 13

I do hate to burst your bubble, but you are a day early.  Window is now 48 hours before your cruise, which would mean Wednesday test.

My cruise leaves this Friday, September 10.   We are still under the 3 day rule.

I had to chuckle at the quick responses about the 13th rule start.  Looks like most on CC are keeping up.

It makes me want to take a test in the morning as well but Ive printed out their own rules from their own website just in case lol. 😎     I definitely fall under the 3 day rule.

Hate to burst your bubble twice, but:

1)  It's a 2-day rule, not 48 hours...yes, there is a difference for sailing purposes, and

2)  13Sep is when this is moved from the 3-day to 2-day rule

I'm not seeing it on the app anymore,  so don't know if they took out this feature, or if it timed out for me, but at one point the app did show a screen that said how many days since test (screenshot below). I tested on Tuesday for Friday departure which was within Royal's 3 day allowance, but the app calculates differently- it showed 4 days since test. Their calculation was day of test was day 1, day I was showing it to Royal was day 4.

There is another screen that shows your name, date, result, probably similar to the PDF, so I showed that at the pier. They did look for the date of test and I was fine, but just an FYI in case that screen is still on the app. Screenshot_20210903-113952_NAVICA.thumb.jpg.f304067081d895c9ef0d2886d8cd9b92.jpg

I went ahead and printed off the PDF to take with me just in case 🙂

I did my test this morning as well.  This is definitely the way to go for the test.   6am and waited maybe 15 seconds for the test guide to come online.  Had the email with lab report and NAVICA app update by 6:25.

I used an iMac.  The test website opens a small video screen in the corner.  It's not zoom.  I use Firefox normally and when I logged in to begin the test a popup immediately told me I was using an unsupported browser.  It listed Safari, Chrome, and Edge as the browser choices.  I switched to Safari and then it worked fine.  Next time I think I'll use an iPad.  You have to be able to adjust the camera so the observer can see both you and the test kit laying on a flat surface.  So I was a bit contorted with my iMac pushed down so the camera could see the test kit.  But the observer was patient and I got an acceptable view for her to proceed.  I think an iPad will be easier.
