Oct 20 2021 survey - Entertainment

I just completed a survey from Azamara built around entertainment.

They asked which types of entertainment I attend such as Destination night, guest performers, dance shows, etc.

Another question was about areas of the ship I attend entertainment such as Living room, show lounge, etc.

A question dealt with how much and where for background music including asking if more music on the pool deck would be nice.

Additionally which of several different genres and eras of music would I like to see more of - Classical, R&B, jazz, 80's, etc

The questions were for the most part in two formats - click all that apply or ranking strongly agree down to strongly disagree.

A question that could be answered in your own words was which Destination event was your favorite.

I am sure there are more but that is all I remember off the top of my head. It took only a few moments to complete.

Yes I got it and was rather concerned at the question that asked what I thought of the background music and would I like more and would I like more at the pool deck - that was a real strongly disagreed from me!

No flippin piped music thanks!  My biggest bugbear with Celebrity the way they've gone. I truly hate it. I spent £500 on an iPhone and Bluetooth headphones. If I want background music I'll put that on and listen to music I want to hear. Ok. Rant over.

Music is such a personal subject. We've have found it hard to find a good music variety on some Azamara cruises with our preference for 'classic rock'. The bigger cruise ships can have more music options. Still, our overall preference is to cruise with Azamara for the many other small ship benefits. We're just not in favor of showtunes, hip hop, rap, etc. - We know some are ... we could always find solace with the harpist to get us by waiting for someone to play some Rolling Stones! ... 🙂 ...

Didn’t receive this survey but we’re definitely in the camp of no background music, don’t object to the occasional live music on the pool deck. On our last Celebrity cruise the continual background music drove us crazy especially as it changed from area to area so in some locations you had different music in each ear.

Last month on Sky Princess our cabin was located by the Retreat pool which was great, no background music (or large screen) not found by many passengers and attentive bar staff. It was great almost like having Azamara on a Princess ship 😁

"live music" ... we'd 'walk a mile' for live music ... 🙂 ... it always amazes me with all the talented crew members who can carry off a live music show, on their own or with other crew, that they don't use them more to provide additional live music. I'm sure crew members would love it!

I was surprised to receive the survey, having not cruised with Azamara since 2016. I get more communication from them now than when we had cruises booked. I would love to do another Azamara cruise but am still wary of flight and admin arrangements. I'm waiting to see how it fares under the new owners.

Agree with the piped in music at pool.  Live music is great.  Piped in is just annoying.  If you want piped music, wear earphones and use your phone.  Please do not do away with live music to dance to in the evening.  The reason I cruise.

Thanks to the early posters for highlighting the questions.  Not only did I check off 'strongly disagree' on the Muzak, but I took advantage of the box at the end of several questions to underline my view that (a) I am a refugee from Celebrity specifically because of the loud obtrusive Muzak everywhere and that (b) they shouldn't ruin Azamara by going after a younger crowd that isn't going to sail with them anyway.

Can anybody remember which topics included a question as to whether or not the entertainment offering is "On Brand?"  Except for the quiet at the pool deck, I don't have a strong brand impression of Azamara entertainment contributing to what I consider their brand. Late nights in port -yes; small friendly ship-yes; tipping included- yes.

It was in relation to the production shows and the Living Room/Den.  I interpreted the question as to whether the entertainment was appropriate for a smaller more niche ship as opposed to a mass market brand.  And pool muzak or any muzak for that matter is mass market.

Interesting when there were issues with muzak before when we fed back onboard we were told it was a Miami directive so hopefully in the separation of the brands, Azamara has been testing the market to see could they ditch muzak or not.  One of the cruise directors and his assistant were very keen on muzak but the others were not as far as we could tell.

Another day….another survey!  Today 57 questions and nothing about music!
Mainly, our expectations of future cruises, what’s important to us, the inclusive components. Our ratings of how Azamara has done things in the past and how we feel about Azamaras main selling points. Took longer than 15 minutes but happy to let them know

I started taking notes of the survey but gave up after a while

1 It started with age and gender

2 Then what do you hope to get out of a cruise -examples included local life &culture, recharge, pampering, lots of activities

3 There was a question that made me think they might unbundle some inclusions. Asked what is important in the price - shuttle service, fancy coffees, booze, gratuities, etc

4 There was a section with questions about vacation preferences and future plans - large ship, small ship, all inclusive resort, escorted tours

5 Do I book a cruise on my own or use a travel agent or both

6 Who do I cruise with - friends, family, grandkids, spouse, alone

What was the most frequent level of stateroom - inside, outside, veranda, suite

At this point I was only about half way through!

There was a section on what type of emotional experience do I have on the cruise - return curious about the world, feel like I saw a place in depth, felt like I was part of a community,

There was a choice of a lot of different passenger sizes and asked how we define small, medium, and large ship. Also asked how likely we would sail on those sizes.

There was a list of about 10 cruise lines and asked which ones I had heard of. Thanks to CC I ticked every box. Also asked which ones I had sailed on- maybe in the last 5 years.

Asked which was my favorite line and had a text box for why.

So people, what did I forget and leave off?

edited it to add - There was a rather odd section on my attitude towards spending on a vacation - sick of pandemic travel issues and ready to splurge, life feels more precious and have been reflecting on what is important, YOLO, saving for a special vacation after pandemic economic stress etc. We were asked how much we agreed 1-10 with each statement.
