Are you referring to the random testing of fully vaccinated travelers at Pearson Airport when he lands ? He would of been tested within 24 hours of entering Canada.

Yup..

"COVID-19: Latest update December 10, 2021—Temporary border restrictions and measures to address COVID-19 Omicron variant of concern

In effect: Fully vaccinated travellers who have been in any country other than Canada and the United States in the 14 days prior to entry to Canada may be selected for arrival testing. They must quarantine in a suitable place until they receive a negative test result. They may take public transportation (for example, connecting flights) to their place of quarantine.

The Government of Canada is increasing the number of fully vaccinated travellers being selected for testing to reach 100% of vaccinated travellers in the coming weeks."

If you could let us know (if he gets tested) if he got an antigen or PCR, and if he had to pay, that's what I am curious about...thanks!

I'm in MN too and cruising next month.  Where are you getting the covid test at? And any suggestions where to get some flip flops?  We have guest kitties and between them and my cat, I suddenly need to replace them.

If you want the cheap ones any Walmart, CVS or Walgreens. There is also a West Marine not to far from the port and a Pro Bass about 6+- miles from the port. With all the time you have before your cruise I would start looking on line.

found this on the web

PCR test and no charge

What kind of tests are included as part of this program?

Switch Health use bilateral anterior swabs or nasopharyngeal swabs on a standard polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing machine. Both tests and equipment are approved by Health Canada. On arrival COVID-19 testing in Toronto Pearson International Airport will be self-administered with the oversight of a registered healthcare worker, trained in specimen collection and handling, and infection prevention. Switch Health’s on-site and telehealth nursing staff will provide step-by-step guidance on self-collection to ensure accuracy of results.

You are not charged for their arrivals test at Toronto

I found a pair at Target for $4!!!  Living in MN I was afraid they'd all be gone right now.

Like just about everything else, Amazon.

One of the dollar type stores may have them also.

On the other end of the spectrum, we leave tomorrow at 5:15 for our flight to cruise.  We are dropping off the dog this am, watching the football game and will start to pack about 3:00 after the game.  We did take, and pass, our Covid tests yesterday.

Why are you packing so early?????? 😄

I would pack at about 4:45 for a 5:15 departure. 😄

Actually, the last trip was to Hawaii, and I got up at 3AM to pack, shower and dress to leave the house by 4AM to catch a 6::20AM flight.  Not much traffic that early and no lines at the airport.

I’m only doing a carryon suitcase and a sports bag for my 7 night cruise. I am not sure how to fit 10 days worth of clothes (shorts, jeans, dresses, and a jacket) my electronics bag with my power bank and usb hub. My makeup, liquids, shoes, pool safe and iPad mini

I have never done carry on for those amounts of days.

I have to actually be able to carry the sports bag so it can’t be too heavy.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. Anything can happen between now and Feb.

True and then when one little thing changes people will get stressed out all over again.

😄 I thought I was bad. I’ll usually start packing the day before and finish up any last things the morning of. I do have a list of what to pack so I just go by that.

I've shared this in the past, but still blows me away...it's amazing...I awake, drive the wife & I to the port, board, go to the room, and magically find everything I need for the week (neatly put away/hung up/etc).

It's incredible...clothes all fit (and most of the clothing is exactly like what I have at home), my toothbrush is there...even my favorite reading material.  All dinners/shows/entertainment have been scheduled.  I even have $$ in my wallet for the week for the casino and drink tips.

Then on day 7, I drive us home expecting to see all of my personal items missing, but guess what...if I just relax and stay out of the way for a couple hours (watch football/etc), watch the wife run around and make some noise looking busy, and then go in my bathroom/closet, everything is just as I left it prior to cruising.  I just don't get it...gonna keep cruising until this changes.

Am I alone in this?  We have a cruise in Feb, and I’m so worried I’ll forget something!

DH and I pre-covid tried to cruise once a year.  I am the planner, and felt I had a good rhythm/system for planning and packing.  Now, since it’s been a while, I’m out of practice!  This weekend, I think I’m going to put together a list of all the things we need to do and pack…. I’m paranoid I’ll forget something important, like final payment, getting my prescription nausea ear patches, packing our KN95s, and scheduling covid tests.

So overwhelming, but so excited to get back onboard!

You have about 2 months to work on your list. Don’t you still have the lists from previous cruises? Isn’t you KN95 masks on the list already? Make a copy of the list for next time and you can make adjustments to it as necessary. Cross off everything as it’s done or packed. Since you’re paranoid why don’t you make necessary appts now or set reminders and don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s just a cruise. Go and have fun.

If you are near the metro- GS labs can get you results in under an hour, and take insurance.

I have way too many pairs of cabin flip flops, so don’t know where to get them now 🙂

I don't use a list.  I mentally dress myself and make sure everything I want to wear, has been represented in packing.  Socks - Check, Underwear - Check, Undershirts - Check, Shirts - Check, Pants - Check.   And do the same for activities.  Water - bathing suit, check, flip flops - Check, water shoes - check, swim shirts - check, etc.

Same with toiletries, I mentally run through my rountine.

But I also travel a lot of business, so I am semi packed all the time. 😄

Men….okay some women too I suppose.  The DH comes in the closet, lays out what he wants to take and in about 10 minutes he walks away.  It takes me hours to pack everything up including snorkel gear, sunscreen, first aid kit, OTC meds, my clothes, jewelry, shoes,  etc.  In November I didn’t plan to snorkel but packed his gear.  I got the “look” when I packed one of my swim fins and one of his.  Lucky the excursion had some.  Oops.
He will help unpack on the ship,  we have a system where everything goes….but when we get home again it’s pretty much all me.  I do the laundry right?
I love him and really don’t mind too much.  He’d forget stuff so really I’d rather do it.  But it is a lot of work!

Be thankful if you have someone in your life who makes travel easier for you!

To the op, just like Santa, make a list and check it twice. I keep a running list in my iPad and amend for each trip. Then let it go and enjoy.  It’s unlikely that you’ll forget something critical.  The rest can be bought at a store near the port.

THIS is the important part.

Now, some of my work trips, it can be a little bit harder, but still not impossible.

A portable lock-box to put your valuables in when at the pool or beach. I have this one.

I don't bother with it on the ship or at a port area I know and feel comfortable with (like Maya Chan), but for random beach days, it's comforting to know I can go off into the water and know that my phone/wallet will still be there when I return.
