Good morning all, what’s left of it.

thank you Rich for the info and have a wonderful cruise.

I am having trouble typing due to my uncooperative fingers.  Doing the best I can.

Prayers for all that need them—especially Jacqui and Jose, Himself and Roy.

Cheers to those who are celebrating.

As for crosswords—I love them.  I do the New York Times crossword everyday and rarely have to look up the answers,.  Proud of that.  However, having a problem with doing them right now with my problems.

Hope everyone has a great day and God bless.

Terri

Good morning all, I wish I were in Fort Lauderdale waiting for my cruise, too.  Bon voyage to those sailing.  Here we are expecting announcements of additional restrictions from Dr. Bonnie and the Prime Minister this afternoon (and possibly snow for Christmas).  I did my last grocery shopping early today, too, even found the tofurkey for DS and his partner.  I'm not eating that.  If Christmas is completely shut down we will deliver a meal for them.  You will all want to avoid me - I am a bit of a humbug supporter this year!

The sauvignon blanc of the day is my very favourite after dinner drink - like one of our ice wines.  I frequently have it for "dessert" in the Pinnacle Grill.   We've been to Haifa twice, both times on the Prinsendam.  The first time I was recovering from noro and under quarantine, so didn't go ashore, but then I did go ashore in 2016 - I imagine @sailingdutchy will post some pictures.  It was a very interesting day.    Five years ago seems like a lifetime now!

Definitely praying for all on the Care List, and @cunnorl's sister.   Somehow it seems like our woes are all magnified by the times we are going through.  A cousin in Vancouver fell yesterday on his way in to the grocery store, but dusted himself off, did his shopping and went home.  One of his children insisted he go to Emergency and he is now in the hospital awaiting surgery to remove blood from his skull.  (I'm not sure what that is all about... ) I imagine no family members are allowed to be with him.

We do the cryptic crossword every day and two additional on the weekends.  Pat and I work on them most of the day, and then DD comes up from her "suite" in our basement, and finishes them off in about five minutes...

Stay safe, everyone.❤️.

Sorry to hear about your cousin. Sounds like a subdural hematoma, blood between the brain and skull. Older people are more prone to that, as the brain shrinks as we age and pulls a bit on the blood vessels. A bump on the head can then cause a tear of the blood vessels and bleeding. If found early on, it's usually a fairly easy fix.

Good morning from a very cool and cloudy Quartzsite.  It looks like I'll be doing the yard work today with all the clouds.  I wanted to do it yesterday while it was sunny, but I ran out of time.  I needed to get the cookies to younger DD in the mail.  USPS Click N Ship is nice in that you can pay the postage on-line and print the label.  Then you just drop it off at the PO without having to stand in a very long line.  While we were out, I also got a haircut.

Bah Humbug to humbugs!  I like doing crossword puzzles, and usually tackle the NY Times puzzle when I'm on a BHB.  I well salute our forefathers.

The Herbert Hoover quote is just weird.

Today, we'll pass on the meal, wine and drink.

@richwmn  Rich, glad you arrived in Florida safely.

@atexsix  Bruno I'm sorry DD is having health problems.  Sending positive thought to both of you.

@msmayor  Safe travels tomorrow.

@ger_77  Gerry, safe travels and have a great time with the family.  Thanks for the bun recipe and all the additional advice.  I think even I can make them.

@mamaofami  Carol, hoping both grandsons fail the covid tests today.

@StLouisCruisers  How lucky your DD was to catch the credit card fraud when she did.  Thanks for the update on Amy's DH.  It looks like he is in for a long recovery.  Sending positive thoughts for a complete recovery without too much rough times.

@*Miss G*  The person you saw must have been Sabine's twin, as she was still Staff Captain on Koningsdam when we returned to San Diego on December 12.
@cunnorl  Charlene, sending positive thoughts that you DS has an easier time with this chemo

treatment.

@Cruising-along   Thank you for the pictures of Haifa.

@Seasick Sailor  Joy, I hope the delay in getting the passenger to a hospital does not make their condition worse, however, a dangerous helicopter evacuation is not good.

@sailingdutchy  Tony, thanks for the pictures.

@Vict0riann  Ann, sorry your cousin fell and now needs surgery.  Positive thoughts for a quick recovery.

We were in Haifa on 10/22/17 on the Prinsendam.  On the recommendation of a fellow CC member, we hire a taxi for a tour and saw a lot of northern Israel.  Because there are quite a few pictures, Ill post the ones of Haifa first, then post some from our day outside the city.

On our return to town, we stopped at the overlook at the top of the Baha'i Gardens, then drove past the entrance at the bottom of the hill.  There was a conference being held that day, so the gardens were closed to visitors.

Good morning, all! I salute our Forefathers, and remember Humbugs as a brown and white hard candy that always showed up in the mix of Christmas candies in little fancy dishes. I haven’t seen them in years!

The meal tonight will be left over roast beef, as we clean up the fridge in preparation for heading off to DS’s tomorrow for six days. Today highway 3 opens for leisure travel. I’m happy not to be trying it out on its first day!

Today Oceana Insignia sets off from Miami on her 196 day World Cruise. HAL has postponed its GWV until January 2023. With restrictions tightening everywhere due to Omicron, I think that’s the wiser decision. As much as I’d love to be on a GWV right now, possibly ending up with 196 sea days is more than I would care for!
Happy Tuesday, especially for those embarking a BHB tomorrow!

Thanks - and I guess the problem is compounded by the fact that he is on blood thinners, so has to wait for those to wear off.

Good morning and thanks all!
@richwmn enjoy your cruise! We’ll be fine, lol!
@Seasick Sailor yikes, hope the person is ok!
@ger_77thanks for the bun recipe, safe travels!

@Vict0riann yikes, hope your cousin is ok!  Vancouver seems to be good medically with brain bleeds, my cousin recovered from one there very well.  I’ll join you in being a humbug this year too.
We are seriously wondering if this coming May cruise to the holy land will be a go, the last two years have been cancelled for us, maybe 2023. So in the meantime really enjoying all the photos! Thanks @Quartzsite Cruiser@sailingdutchy@Cruising-along

Grateful the days will start getting longer!

Sorry to hear about your cousin's fall and hope he is okay.

My late dad aged 85 fell and hit his head while visiting the  rest room at night when he was in hospital and unfortunately he died shortly afterwards.

Take care.

Graham.

Wine of the Day - Errazuriz Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc - Chile -

Am I just dumb?  What does that quote mean?

You know I came here to comment on the wine, while the questions above are serious, they were a feint.

Not to dissuade anybody from sailing on HAL, but if you ever find yourself on a Princess cruise, they always have this wine available.

If anybody wants to try a dessert wine, just to see if they like it, this one is a fairly inexpensive leap.  It is a tad sweeter than a French Sauternes, but, again, at the price it is inexpensive research.  😀

Good Afternoon, thanks for the daily report.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds good as do the @dfishrecipes.  We are having leftover turkey barley soup for dinner since DH was supposed to go out for a work dinner, it got cancelled.

One thing I’ve done to combat credit card fraud is to set the alerts.  They can send you a text and or email depending on the bank.  One sends me an alert f the credit card number is used without being present.  That one is most important to me.  The messages also include the ability to cancel the transaction right away.

As I thought today has been a very busy day.  Hopefully I’ll get caught up tomorrow just in time for a four day weekend.  Tucker made another zoom appearance.

Greetings from Fort Lauderdale and a lazy day before boarding Rotterdam tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day!

I hope you have a fabulous cruise.

Well, you know what they say - the road to Hxxx is paved with good intentions.  I thought I would have a chance to post this morning but the wifi was down at the hospital forever 😡

I feel so badly that I have missed giving condolences, sympathy and best wishes to so many of you.  😢 So sad to see the Care list growing.  It’s always hard  but for many harder at this time of the year.

Still have a very full plate so please forgive my lack of likes and multi quotes.  I do want to put some smiles on people’s faces though.

Winter might be arriving today, but believe me, it had come here long ago.  I had the pleasure of driving in a really nasty snowstorm to the hospital yesterday.

Roads here were not bad but once I hit the Saint John boundary they were a mess (SJ is not known for plowing quickly).  Even on the old highway.  I was shaking when I got to the hospital, but I made it.

I did find the wine in the fridge when I finally got home 😉

Fervent prayers for everyone on the Care list and for all who may need them and a toast to everyone on the Celebratory list.

Have a good Tuesday everyone.  Stay safe & please don’t forget your 😷

Good afternoon everyone. @kazu... good to hear from you. Hope things will improve both healthwise and weatherwise.

That quote is very confusing. I have not been to Israel.... another thing onto the Bucket list. Dinner tonight will be out with my niece and her family. They will leave tomorrow early to get well ahead of a predicted snow storm. The kids are being taken sledding today - considered a big treat by little Californians. They are already talking about returning next summer to ride the train, go horseback riding and generally enjoy themselves. Not sure Dad is onboard with all this.

Bandit and I are working on clearing out a closet that has been a major "I'll deal with that later" depository for a few years. My handyman did come back and got my blind taken care of by switching the one from the spare room into my bedroom. At least I don't have to worry about the neighbors. And I have made peace with my TV although I do need to start looking for a new one. Taking things slow!!!

Take care all.

Susan

@kazu  Jacqui, it was good to hear from you.  As always, I enjoyed the memes.

Please don't worry about missing celebrations, best wishes and condolences.  Your Daily family understands that you have enough on your plate to add us to the mix everyday.  Your first priority is to take care of Jose and to take care of yourself so you can help Jose.

Sending both of you positive thoughts and big hugs.

Lenda
