Deck 9......also even though the ship is only 2/3rds full the casino has been really busy every night.....does not look like to me the "No Smoking" policy is doing any damage to the casino....every table and most slots were full at 8:00 PM tonight........

Do you know what part of deck 9?  The forward or aft?  We are on deck 9 in the aft starboard side

thanks

It is the aft area on the port side of the Dolphin deck. It starts from D702 and goes back to D730 in the middle of the aft cabins. We double checked, during our Dec 11 sailing, and saw the fire doors were closed and secured in that portion of the deck. That included the doors by the aft elevators.

We had been thrilled to have been booked in D726, which is a penthouse suite with a massive balcony, until they switched us without notice. We were very disappointed because it was a one time experience for us because of the cruise credits from cancelled cruises. We ended up in B735 (starboard), which was still an incredible experience. Your location should be fine. Have a wonderful cruise.

Thanks for the new Patters and always good to hear about no smoking in  The Casino and that people are playing.

Any problems with dining for anyone or any other complaints or praises? Yes so far a few complaints about closet “ nightlight”.

Are passengers complying with wearing masks or are crew constantly reminding passengers to put mask on properly?

Well to everyone on board thank you for posting as I’ve said previously my mom and her husband are on board with you and feels as if I can participate virtually. I am Definitely not ready to cruise with a mask on.

If you are waiting for masks to go away then it may be a long long time before you cruise again

This is my first cruise so I don’t have any other experiences to compare to, but so far I’d consider it a pretty incredible trip. We have had 8 other vacations canceled due to the pandemic and are so relieved and excited to be somewhere other than home. Knowing that everyone was vaxxed and tested prior to sailing is definitely a positive, and the crew take it seriously as well. They are tested throughout the cruise, though I don’t know how frequently. The only real risk is what everyone does at port and if they were to bring it back with them. Honestly I feel safer here than going to the mall at this point. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

As far as the room goes - we booked a deluxe balcony but on day one our door sensor stopped working and the crew wouldn’t be able to fix it till the next day, meaning we would need crew assistance each time we needed to get into the room, and so we were moved and upgraded to a mini suite. No complaints there! The motion sensor lights that others have mentioned are pretty aggressive, but we slapped a bandaid over the sensor and problem solved. Just one of those things that some will enjoy  more than others.

The food and drinks are wonderful. Haven’t had trouble getting in anywhere and having the ability to order almost anything to your room is also pretty fantastic.

I’ll try to post an update closer to the end of the trip but so far, so good. For those nervous about upcoming trips I would say to keep an eye on numbers, of course, but that everyone here is doing their best to keep healthy and keep others healthy as well.

Following.
We leave on the Ruby Princess out of SF on Thursday, Jan 6 and will be following much of the same itinerary (with the addition of Manzanillo - big whoop!)

I hope you do a "live from" post. My wife and I will be on Ruby the end February.  Extremely excited, plus it's our first Princess cruise (#12 overall).

We’ll  I guess it’ll be a long time before  I cruise then. I’ve been Taking a vacation every month last year, land based and didn’t have to wear a mask except for in the lobby of the hotel and Of course on the plane. Just my preference at the moment.

I was just curious for those onboard how the mask wearing is going for them. As I said my mom and her husband are on this current cruise so just trying to see what others think.

Keep the Live from Majestic coming.

Thanks.

.

It's kind of funny, I booked 708 on April of 2021 for a Feb. cruise. They took it away from me a few months later for COVID. I finally got 708 back last week. 710 was also available but she said she couldn't see it so I booked 708 fast. I was on Caribe with the small balcony. Also 710 isn't a connecting cabin, and  when I went to look for  it an hour later it was gone. I'm happy and I hope they don't move me again.🙂

Hello,

We had D710 booked back in March of 2021 and also had it taken away.  I saw those come back into play and moved to D702.  I hope that they have moved the quarantine section to another part of the ship.

We are not on this cruise, but were on the Majestic for two back-to-back cruises late November/early December.  This was thankfully before Omicron exploded on the scene, but Princess still had the mask mandate inside the ship.  Personally we did not find this much of an inconvenience and were happy to have it.  It meant putting a mask on when we left our room, in the hallways, on the elevator, and walking through the inside of the ship.  Once we sat down at a restaurant or bar we could take the mask off.  Once we were sitting outside, at the pool, or walking in an uncrowded area, we would also take the mask off.  it wasn't a hardship.  At that time I would estimate that 95% of the passengers were complying with the mask rules.  It was a great vacation!

If you are opposed to masks then I would agree it is best to avoid cruises for a while.

We are on Majestic now and I would say about the same percentage of compliance (95%) and have only seen a few flaunt not wearing a mask.....maybe because it is a West Coast cruise there is just more compliance because a lot of us are just use to wearing masks anyway.....dunno?

Maybe with the Omicron wave they added a second quarantine area in case they needed it, but have now decided that cases are low enough that they do not.

Well, I spoke too soon.  They just changed us AGAIN to deck 10.  All of the open deck 9 aft cabins are now closed.  This morning there were about 30+ various balcony cabins available on Deck 9 aft.  Now there are none.

We have the small balcony again.   So frustrating.

We went to a life aboard the sea chat yesterday.  It was led by the cruise director and one of the assistant cruise directors.  They said every turn around they are getting between 40 -100 new crew members.  They get boosted at the airport and then have to go into quarantine on deck 9 for at least 5 days.  If any crew member had a cough or stuffy nose, they automatically go into quarantine.  Even if they test negative, they stay in quarantine.  Crew members are tested weekly.

Heard from my mom today via text as she is currently on the majestic princess. They checked out the dolphin deck and cabins 702 to 730 the doorway is blocked and a curtain is drawn over it. She said there was no guard at the door. She did not mention if there were any signs saying don’t enter. She also reported back that their dinner has improved as far as Service as I believe they’ve been moved multiple times. Today they walked along the Malecon and saw the local Loreto Church.

and they went to the marriage game last night and other than that not much else to report.

Cabo looks gorgeous today. Thanks for sharing. If there is a opportunity, can you please talk to a senior level crew member or officer and ask if the next sailing Jan 8th is still on? NCL has just started canceling cruises. Sadly passengers were only given 24 hrs notice prior to sailing. That means they probably have gotten their COVID testing, jumped on a plane to travel to the ship only to find out it has been cancelled.

Perhaps on your sea day tomorrow there will be a “coffee chat” or something where you can ask. The crew always knows before any Princess phone service rep knows. As for myself, I have a hotel reservation that must be cancelled before Thursday midnight to avoid any cancellation fees for an overnight stay with 8 days of parking. Thank you all!
