Rare Seas2mountains Posted January 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2022 Hi. So we are long time NCL cruisers with Platinum status. What can we do to let us have some self-care time. We are school counselors so challenged by the parents and others while we do our best to support our students.
Rayhorn Posted January 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2022 I’m not sure we understand your question. Could you please clarify what you are asking? Are you asking what options exist for self-care/relaxation onboard? Do you have a Celebrity cruise booked? If so, which ship and cabin type? This will affect what amenities are available. In our opinion Celebrity is a great line to choose for a cruise with a focus on rest and relaxation. No noisy announcements, there are activities but not in your face. If you want to simply lie on a sun bed and relax you will find plenty of quiet spots. The Silhouette has some advantages over most other S class ships as it has two additional restaurants, both on deck. We find dining generally on Celebrity very good. We also find the speciality restaurants excellent, you may want to consider adding a dining package to your booking to add indulgence and variety. You do not mention your cabin type…On Celebrity some cabins offer additional facilities. For example Aqua class has its own restaurant, Blu and free access to Persian Gardens. Suite rooms have their own lounge, restaurant (Luminae) and private deck area. As there are differences it is worth while pricing all options and seeing what is in your budget and what you might enjoy. Entertainment on Celebrity in terms of big shows is probably not its strength…There are big shows but many guests seem to prefer the small group and individual performances that take place in the lounge areas. You do need to check the ‘Today’ sheet to find out what is on as after the morning address at 10am there are no more announcements. There are lots of bars to choose from ranging from lively to quiet. Seating and general ‘flow’ of the ship tends to disperse guests so you never really feel crowded. Hope you enjoy your first cruise on Celebrity. Also not understanding the question. Are you having job burn out or just needing a break? Celeb and esp Silhouette, is a great choice with many options and excellent dining. The Solarium is a quiet "indoor" space the the morning for reading, hot tubs or a dip in the T pool. Outdoor pool/ hot tub area also quiet in am..or dinner hr Spa offers singles and cpls massages, if open. Thermal suite ( upcharge) offers sauna/ steam, showers, heated lloungers Gym may offer Yoga or meditation, easy stretching classes. Use of equip without classes is no extra cost. The Cafe Baccio is a nice place all day for special coffee/ tea ( upcharges if no drink package) and free goodies. Many quiet spots indoor and out..and your balc if u have one. Nice music..all types. Enjoy and rewind!

micmacmissy Posted January 7, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 7, 2022 Former school counselor and current school principal here. I feel your need for peace and self care! We have an April spring break cruise planned in a Retreat suite on Edge just to relax and regroup. I just want to be waited on and have a whole week where no decision is greater than choosing a bathing suit and a cocktail off the drink menu.

Two retired school principals here… we get it… wish both couples some well deserved break time…
goldsmip115 Posted January 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Just moving away from NCL to Celebrity is the first step in peace and self care!
upwarduk Posted January 8, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Unfortunately, your status on NCL won’t move with you to Celebrity.

There is just so much on a cruise that gives you that ‘away from it all’ that you don’t get even at a luxury resort…Apart from, perhaps, the Maldives where we drifted very quickly into no news no shoes…
TMLAalum Posted January 8, 2022 #12 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Our first cruise was on NCL. Then we tried Celebrity for a 14 night Baltic cruise and never looked at NCL again! As others have posted, no constant announcements and even the captain and cruise director daily updates are only heard in public spaces or via your cabin tv. On Celebrity the main dining room offers good food and excellent service whereas it seemed hardly used on our NCL cruise. The ambience is subdued. We like the specialty restaurants: Sushi on 5, Tuscan Grill and Murano, but Petit Chef was a one and done. For quiet, the Solarium pool is perfect. No belly flop or wet tee shirt pool activities at any pool! There are adult events usually after 10 pm. For those of us who work with children on a daily basis, unless we bring our own kids, they are a rarity on Celebrity.
daydreamer16 Posted January 8, 2022 #13 Share Posted January 8, 2022 I'm a retired teacher, and when I cruised on school breaks I used to forget the names of half of the kids in my class 😁 That's how good Celebrity is for relaxation!
