I spoke to 2 different people at Princess and they said no smoking in the casino because it is in an open area but there is smoking in Churchill’s Lounge because it was built for smoking and is isolated from non smokers.  People commenting on other sites just refer to the general policies that were updated and specially mention the casino.

Check out the most recent 'live from' threads and if it isn't discussed, ask the question about Churchill's.  I trust people currently on a ship to know compared to someone who may never have stepped foot on one!

Oops - I thought this was on a general "does Princess allow smoking inside" thread and not a 'live from."  Hope you get an answer.  We were on the CB the first week in January and I'm 90% certain Churchill's had the no smoking sign posted but we only walked by it once.

Yesterday in Ocho Rios it started out very cloudy but turned out nice in the afternoon.  Starting around 9:30 in the morning the ship had crew drills.  At the end, around 10:30 the Captain announced that crew that had time off could go ashore.  This is the first time for most crew other than some that get a chance in Ft. Lauderdale. Crew were instructed that they had to wear mask all the time off the ship.

OneI thing I forgot about sailaway – I saw what I believe was a manatee just off the rocks by the last condo we sailed by in the channel.  It was the correct size and had that distinctive tail.   Rare to see sea life in the port area but in the past have seen dolphins near the draw bridge and a huge shark in the turnaround area.

Today was a nice sea day but quite humid.

I talked to a waiter who said that those that have lunch time off can go ashore in Cozumel between 11am and 4pm.  Great for them.

The opening to the Olympics will be shown on MUTS at 7AM Friday but no other Olympics on Friday’s Patter.

We had captain Circle party tonight.  There are 183 elite and 200 platinum members on board so still a high level of new passengers.  The top 3 passengers from last week all dropped down.  A new number 1 most travelled has 2,841 nights with Princess which is close to the highest of all Princess customers.  They also gave special recognition to a couple passing the 1,500 night mark on this voyage. I think it is quite unusual for someone with 1,500 nights not to be a top 3 on a 7 night cruise but these days there is limited options for those wanting to cruise.

For the most traveled passengers, if it were not for the covid shutdown, they would likely be over 3,000.

The Most travelled luncheon will be tomorrow (just after we get our covid test for next week).  I did not ask what the cut-off was this week but last week was 431 days.  We are close to 600 so will likely keep getting invited.

According to a thread on the Princess board all Grand Cayman are cancelled for the month of Feb.   I asked at the front desk tonight and so far, they have not had any notification from head office.

Nice day in Cozumel. We were joined by 2 other large ships.  Not sure of temp, but was a bit on the hot side, partly cloudy and no breeze.  I walked as far as the lighthouse. Managed to see 3 iguana and 2 hummingbirds but the birds were not interested in waiting to have their picture taken.

Looks like Thursday, February 17th on the CB will be spent at sea vs. Grand Cayman, due to temporary government restrictions on cruise ships there.

Grand Cayman closed at the beginning of COVID days before the No Sail order was issued and has not opened at all since then.

The problem with Grand Cayman is they keep indicating they are close to opening and then push the dates back.  Makes it hard for those with plans expecting it to be open only to have it pulled on short notice.

It's a nice port. Definitely not a deal breaker. Not sure what the port refund will be.

That’s the equivalent of almost 8 years.  That’s insane.  Do they live on cruise ships ?

They began when younger and money was not an issue. We began when we were 50 and 49. We took our teenage daughters on our first cruise. We will most likely never be Elite, but that is ok.

What are the pools like on the Caribbean Princess ? I remember you said you like to go the the aft Terrace pool area.
Is there a covered pool on this ship on the Lido deck ?

We will be doing a Panama Canal later this Spring on Caribbean Princess, and wanting to learn a little more about the different areas especially the pools .

Thanks ! Glad you are enjoying your cruising . 😊

There are no covered pools on the Caribbean Princess.  That said my favorite pool, outside the spa on deck 16 forward, is the Lotus pool. The loungers (on our cruise a month ago they were still the teak loungers with a thick cushion) are covered by the overhang from deck 17.   You approach it from deck 17 or by walking through the spa on deck 16.

There are more than the usual number of pools.  We liked the pool on Lido that was under the big screen. It’s a quieter area and they show trivia and movies during  the day.

We have been on the Caribbean Princess several times.  2 main pools and the one by the Lotus Spa and just under the Sanctuary.  On sea days we like spend the afternoon in the Sanctuary and use the small pool there.  Really can’t swim there.  People usually just stand around in the water.  On days when the sea is rough they cover it up with a net.  But it is adults only although you do get the family that just can’t follow the rules and bring their young children who disturb the atmosphere.  Really intolerable when they bring a kid in diapers in the pool or hot tub.  It’s one of my few pet peeves.

It wouldn't take me more than a minute to have a crew member remind them about it.😖

Thank you for the pool information. The deck plan on the Princess site lanes one pool , very far forward , on Deck 16 as a Lap Pool, and also calls it the Lotus Pool...is that the one referred to as below the Sanctuary?

We were on the Sky Princess in Nov , and it had the Retreat pool for adults only, is the Lotus /lap pool adults only and free ? I know the Sactuary has a fee. Thanks for all the information 😊

As CrusingAwayTheBucketList noted, the Lotus pool is definitely not a lap pool and it is for adults only.  It is free.  Just google Carribean Princess Lotus pool for photos.

IF you could get them to do it.

We saw a couple in the Lotus Pool hot tub vaping (as against the rules as smoking). Alerted the pool attendant and he just shrugged.

He might have shrugged but his supervisor probably wouldn't.
