Allure “LIVE” 3/5-3/13 - The allure of the Allure

Recommended Posts

Our afternoon excursion was to be snorkeling with turtles and rays.  We brought our own snorkeling equipment my and GoPro, hoping for some nice photos.

There were about 90 lined up and ready to go.

it wasn’t until we were aboard and underway, that they informed us we would not be going where we expected, because waves were too high.

So instead, they took us to a beach to snorkel from there.

it was such a huge disappointment.  Too much seaweed, cloudy, and lack of sea life.

Allure docked at Crown Bay, so we decided to walk in town to havensight. It wasn’t a bad walk ( about 40 minutes), but I forgot both a hat and sunscreen.

A few pictures along the way.

Does every port have the guy on stilts? Sometimes it seems that way.

The iguanas were out.

in case anyone wants to know gas prices here, this is it.

We found that there was a funeral home at each end of this cemetery.  I guess they don’t have to go far.

And finally we get a glimpse of town.

Is that per gallon or liter?

Wow.  Seems like they should have told you and let you have a choice.

Karaoke was at Dazzles when we sailed Allure last September.  That was new for me also (vs On Air Club).  Don't know if that's a permanent or temporary change.  I'm not a fan of Dazzles for anything.  Too long and skinny.  Using that space for Music Hall on Wonder should be a nice improvement.

So did they have the live band in dazzles too or was it all Kareoke most nights.

The thing nice about dazzles (historically) was a live band playing popular cover music.  And they were always fantastic.  My wife loves to go there and dance.  So much better than the DJ stuff played at the dance clubs like Blaze.  I really hope that isn’t a thing of the past.  That combined with no Negra Modelo and the wife is gonna be pissed!

Seems fair to ask the tour manager for a partial refund.

You know it really does seem partial refund worthy. Especially if it was a ship excursion. You should have been informed before everyone boarded, so you could have made a decision then.

Had dinner at Sabor last night; no Negro Modela. Corona was the only Mexican beer they had

So your reply had me thinking.  Are you referring to the menu or did you ask a server?   I really appreciate you looking for me.  Just hoping that maybe they have a secret stash that isn’t on the official menu.  I know, I need to get a grip with reality and admit I have a problem.  😂😂

Agree, but we were already captive and underway by then.

Ask to speak with the tour manager and express your frustration with how that all played out.  A tour change like that just seems inappropriate.  You should’ve had a choice not to go for a full refund.

We once had an 3 part ships excursion - hike, snorkel & lunch day - in Dominica. Heavy rains the day before caused a lot of muddy runoff from the mountains and made the snorkel pretty much useless. Could barely see 2 feet in front of you.   Someone in our excursion group complained & we all got 1/3 refunded back.

Understand.  Didn’t know if you were aware of the app menu availability.  I wasn’t until this thread.

Oh absolutely! I learn so many things from these boards. And you asking about the beer made me think to ask! Thanks so much!

I figured that is why you asked.  Since my beer won’t be onboard I may have to hit some of the hard stuff.  Now I’ll know the bourbon list.

If you are wondering about protocols for going ashore in St. Thomas, masks are required in all businesses.

They take it seriously here, and we saw people standing alone at a bus stop, and on bicycles, and they had masks on.

After our return from our excursion, we cleaned up, grabbed some pizza for supper, and took it to our rescheduled Aqua Show.  Much of it was very familiar from the last time we were on Allure

Now this is using your head.

It t was a rushed evening, because the rescheduled Aqua Show was at 6, and we had Mama Mia at 7:15.

Although they say no photos or video during Mama Mia, somehow these couple found their way to my camera roll

Picking up where I left off, after my sunrise photo this morning, we did 6 miles on the track and had a quick breakfast at WJ. It has, at times, been a little disappointing.

If we hadn’t been rushed with our plans for the day, I probably would have gone to the dining room.

I found the Windjammer under whelming  and overall disappointing when I was aboard. And I am a Jammer dweller.

There has been a noticeable lack of paper on this cruise.  Cruise compasses are not out, nor are bar menus.

The one exception is dining, where we are handed a menu each night.

I would complain to the excursion desk that you were not informed of the change until too late and given the option to cancel. That was not right.

Edit: I see this was already covered.
