Allure “LIVE” 3/5-3/13 - The allure of the Allure

Picking up where I left off, after my sunrise photo this morning, we did 6 miles on the track and had a quick breakfast at WJ. It has, at times, been a little disappointing.

Was that 6 miles running or walking? Either way you are my hero. I’m hoping with a new knee I can do 1 mile.

Have you tried any of the Indian food for breakfast in the WJ? I was very impressed and ate some of it every morning.

was the content appropriate for an 11 yo? Not a mature, worldly one to be exact.

There is something weird going on in your second photo.

ETA: Grease was NOT appropriate, which I inquired about beforehand, so I went alone. They were right.

Do you know the story of Mama Mia? Nothing inappropriate happens during the show. But the story is that a woman is getting married and invites three men, all who are her possible fathers as her mother was fooling around with all three of them at the time of conception. It is, however, a very fun show.

Now, you decide if it is appropriate for your 11yo..

Yes, and I've seen the movie as well. Was "fooling around" a part of the show?

Like I said, Grease the musical was inappropriate, so I am glad I asked in advance. Neither was a musical on NCL Getaway (quite lewd, actually), but, thankfully, the kid was only 7 and it went over his head. I didn't ask in advance, though.

I think the show is all good fun. The actors don't do anything that I would consider inappropriate. I don't even remember anything as benign as even a kiss.... if one did happen then I'll just blame one of my espresso martinis for knocking off the neuron in my brain that contained the memory.😇

So your reply had me thinking.  Are you referring to the menu or did you ask a server?   I really appreciate you looking for me.  Just hoping that maybe they have a secret stash that isn’t on the official menu.  I know, I need to get a grip with reality and admit I have a problem.  😂😂

Asked specifically when we were seated for dinner

Thanks so much for asking.  Really appreciate it. Too bad they got rid of it.  Can’t imagine why because it is a very popular beer.

That was walking.  With my knees, I don’t run anymore.

By the way, my total yesterday ended up a little over 17 miles.  Sometimes I get too competitive with Fitbit challenges, especially since everyone in the group is younger

Good morning St. Maarten.  By the time we tied up at the dock, the rain passed, and it looked like a beautiful day.

Sky Princess is docked next to us.  It looks like it is a good size ship.

After yesterday, we decided to skip the track and get our exercise walking in to town.  Picked up a couple lattes (3 actually, because the 3rd one you can use to fill the other 2 to the top).  Put some of our Carmel in them, and went to the MDR for breakfast.

An interesting conversation with the waiter in the MDR on some of the restrictions they have had.

We are just enjoying a beach day today.  There were a lot of people doing the walk to town

This garden is beside the gelato stand that has some fantastic flavors.

We have at least 5 ships in port, so the beach is packed.  That is a good thing, because their economy really needs it.

We got the two loungers, umbrella and five beer special.  After I had my first beer, we walked up the beach.

There is still a lot of buildings boarded up from the hurricane from several years ago.

We met a nice couple from north of London, and talked with them for quite a while.  They were sailing on one of the two P&O ships in port.

Of course, we were gone so long, that a squatter took up residence under my lounge chair.

An update on yesterday’s excursion.  Royal did refund us 30%.

Although we met our drink quota onshore, we had to come back to work on these.

Good news was that Solarium bar was open.

Susan’s mudslide.

And a Love Connection (the drink kind)😊

30% is better than nothing.  Not even sure what is fair in that situation.

Is Nakesha working in the Solarium bar?

Did you have to ask for a price adjustment or did the ship offer it in its own?

She is.  She made those great looking drinks I posted.  She seems nice.

Hugh is my favorite bartender in the Pub.  I think he is getting to know me.

I asked for the adjustment in price.

What kind of restrictions are they still facing, besides the masks?

They can’t get off the ship.

They can’t spend more than 10 minutes at a table, interacting with anyone.  They say the cameras are tracking them.

They can only take off their mask when they are alone in their cabin.

I feel bad for them. we haven’t been able to cruise again since the restart. I know it’s to keep them safe, but hopefully they’ll get some relief soon.

been loving your updates. Thanks for taking the time. We have a trip booked on Allure later in the year and I can’t wait.

My friend’s cousin is a travel nurse and when she emailed her that the crew wasn’t allowed off at any port, I was surprised.
i guess it makes sense, though.

Very sad.  They have all probably been exposed to so much Covid they must have a lot of immunity built up on average.  Hopefully it is just a matter of time before they get a little more

freedom to breath normally and talk to customers.

I’m glad you posted this! I’m on the same sailing as well, first time on an Oasis Class ship and first Royal in ages.

Mask free mostly but some are still wearing them, and all crew are. Some double masking. Feels a bit odd since it’s the first time I am around so many people unmasked.

I’m 20 years of cruising we never been to Nassau so we were excited to see it…and then I guess the weather didn’t want us there lol.
Celebrity Millennium, Carnival Conquest, and HAL Nieuw Amsterdam are all there though so maybe it’s because the size of the Allure?

They restrict the number of ships and pax allowed to dock at once.

I am not sure they have those restrictions, but some ports may have them.

Sky princess, which was docked next to us in St. Maarten was denied entry to St. Thomas the day before.

We haven’t heard anything about Covid onboard.  January on Oasis, we were always getting updates.
