We are also on this cruise.  Great food, great service and the Marvelous Vicky as our cruise director.  No complaints here.

I guess Wes abandoned the thread after he made sure we all knew he was at the “naming ceremony”😜😜!!!

Thanks for the update.  And, yes, very strange that Wes just abandoned the thread he started here.  Wonder what happened?

Cancun01, yes they have one non alcoholic beer, Heiniken0.

zgtchas/Charles; alas no more Silversea night lights and yes bring your clock.  I use my Iphone for night light and clock. Ida is home with our 18 year old furson.  I stay home next month when she goes to texas to visit family

here is the fittest behind the scenes crew member profile

Let’s meet a behind the scenes Silversea Cruises Silver Dawn crew member.  These truly hardworking crew members don’t normally get told “Thank You,” by. Silversea Guests as they generally work below the Silversea Ship  passenger decks, for example, they may work in the Galley, Provision department, Dry Cleaning team, Desk Top Publishing (e.g. Chronicle’s, menus) or even as an engine wiper in the engine room.

Today let’s meet Vicky DCunha a member of the 17 person Galley Utility team on board the Silver Dawn.

Vicky has been happily. married to Archana DCunha and they live in Mumbai India.  He keeps in touch with Archana using the What’s App, App.  He was last with Archana in February before he began this contract on the Silver Dawn.

Vicky is now serving his fourth contract, and began working on Silversea in 2018.  When asked what his favorite ship to serve on he told me, “it is the Silver Muse,” the first ship he worked on during his first contract.

When asked about his principal duties as a member of the Silver Dawn Galley Utility team; he told me they clean and sanitize all the Silver Dawn cutlery, dishes and ensures all five of the Silver Dawn Galley floors and also cleaned and sanitized.  Vicky and his Galley Teammates also ensure all stainless steel tables and appliances are cleaned. The Sanitation process involves applying special chemicals that the team uses in their cleaning protocol.  The Galley Utility team sometimes rotate among the five  Silver Dawn Galleys they clean, depending on the workload required.

When asked what is his most challenging Galley Utility duty, Vicky, emphatically lets me know he loves all his duties and does not find one duty more challenging than another.

Vicky tell me he loves working for Silversea because they treat all crew like on big family.  Plus, he says, “I’m proud to work on a six star luxury line.”

So, next time you see your reflection in your Silver Dawn breakfast, lunch or dinner plate, or observe how your silverware sparkles; please take a moment and give a silent “thank you.” To Vicky and his Silver Dawn Galley Utility team

From a few days ago:

Good afternoon from Bandol, France!

Bandol is a true seaside resort with a population about 8000.  Famous tourists that helped put Bandol as a top France seaside resort to stay were Thomas Mann, Aldous Huxley,  and Marcel Pagnol.  They made Bandol a holiday spot long before the days ot Brigitte Bardot and Saint Tropez.

First we visited another French seaside village, Sanary Sue Mer.  Beautiful port with colorful boats and a thriving market of Veggies, cheese, and fresh fish.

In Bandol, We saw multiple sandy beaches even Pebble beaches; Grand Vallat beach, Casino beach, central beach, necros beach - alternate with pebble beaches.  Bandol has a wonderful cornice path, to walk along and observe this seaside resort delights.  The Crystal clear water of the Mediterranean Sea in Bandol and rich seabed attract scuba divers from all over France and Europe.

The Bay of Bandol is a natural feature of this Provençal village dating back to 18th century

The Plane trees mark the heart of the Bandol market where your tempted to fill your backpack with colorful vegetables and dazzling fruit’s.  The pronounced smell like a magnet pulls you to the stalls of fishes fresh caught early in the morning.

I enjoyed a delish coffee in one of the dozens of seaside bars/restaurant .

Unique to Bandol are a variety of very different sculptures that dot the main cornice path

please enjoy some photos of the beautiful French seaside villages of Sanary Sur Mer and Bandol — in Toulon, France.

La Terraza is wonderful for lunch, but there are repetitive service issues for dinner service. to be expected on a maiden voyage. Atlantide has been near perfection.  All cuisine presented is outstanding!

Happy to answer any other Dawn ?  ( will ask about owners suite and 930)

Good Afternoon from Genoa Italy from the brand new Silversea Silver Dawn!

We are docked in Genoa an unsung hero of Italy.  Just about 100 miles from France and stretching along the Mediterranean coast, Genoa is the capital of Liguria or the Italian Riviera.

This morning we enjoyed a walking excursion in the foot steps of one of Italy’s musical Icons, “walking in the footsteps of Niccolo Paganini and Italian violinist and composer.  He was the most celebrated violin virtuoso of his time.  His 24 Caprices for Solo Violin Op. 1 are among the best known of his compositions and have served as an inspiration for many prominent composers.

Our excursion highlights were visits to Palazzo Ducale, Grimaldina Tower, Church of Donato, and a visit to Teatro Della Tosse.

We first stop was Palazzo Ducale where we took snaps of the outside of Grimaldina Tower.  Paganini was detained here in 1815, only to return 20 years later to play his violin at a reception organized the Governor of Genoa

We then headed to the 11th Century church of San Donato, where Paganini’s birth documents are kept.  We enjoyed a splendid walking tour inside this beautiful church.

Our last stop—the highlight of this walking tour—was a guided tour of Palazzo Tursi.  We visited Paganini Hall featuring the violin made by Guarneri del Gesue in 1743, Paganini’s violin first choice

Paganinis Canon violin  made in 1743 by BartolomeGiuseppe Guarneri known asdel GesùCremona 1698 -1744)the Cannon is universallyrecognised as a masterpieceof the renowned Cremonese school of violinmaking.Up to now, it is one of the best preserved violins in the world. Its value is even greater due tothe fame of its renownedowner, Niccolò Paganini
(Genoa 1782 - Nice 1840), whoaffectionately called it mycannon violin, due to its rich sonority — at Cruise port, Genova,.

For first time in 13 days guests enjoyed dining al fresco at La Terraza for lunch today—Genoa is in background

Hi Wes, thanks for the photos.🙂 So, overall, have you been enjoying everything? Brand New ship......and now you are almost at the end. How is the Salt Bar? Did you try a few beverages in there? Would you know who the bartender is? I will be sailing her out of Barcelona at the end of June. Looking forward to it 🙂

Hi Lois, alway nice to hear from you; you’re always so courteous and thoughtful in your posts. Yes, am enjoying the scale of the Dawn’s venues compared to the other Silversea ships; enjoy Otium’s nibbles too.  Only niggle to share now is the dinner dining service is La Terraza is having teething pain.  Have not made it to the salt bar, know Alessandro is the Sommelier and Abudan (sp) is the Bartender.  Going to try the Salt Kitchen when we are in Livorno

Hi - we were on Dawn from 1st - 8th April and visited the SALT Bar several times. We loved it ! As with the SALT Kitchen the cocktails, beers etc change with the countries visited  (We only visited Portugal & Spain so limited change but the cocktails are very interesting).

The Bar Manager/Mixologist was named Andrea I think (sp.) A really nice guy and interesting to talk to as he has worked in bars around the world including a range of places in London.

The only issue with the SALT Bar is the size - it is too small !

We loved the ship and our (Silver) Suite. Our favourite dining locations were SALT, Silver Note, Arts Cafe, and Spaccanopoli for lunch  (best pizzas ever).

Like Wes we found La Terrazza a problem in the evening, with quite poor service and cold food. We also dined in Atlantide and liked the menus, however on both occasions the majority of our mains went uneaten - cold ! Seems to be a trend here.

Despite some negatives I do hope you enjoy Dawn as we did.

Thanks for the replies🙂 I sailed Moon last summer and LOVED The Salt Bar (it was my favorite) so I know what you mean about the size of it......it is quite intimate.

Sorry to read about the food temps........maybe things will be better by the time I sail (end of June). But if I order dish that is supposed to be served hot and it comes out cold? I will be sending it back to the galley. But I plan on having a wonderful cruise😃

I went to the Salt Bar on Silver Moon  last August.

You need to be in there by 19.00 to comfortably get a seat for a cocktail before dinner.

Many arrived at 19.15 and were unable to come in

Yes - usually i'm unaccepting when food is placed before me where basic standards haven't been met and like you - back to the kitchen it must go.

On this (maiden) cruise it was clear that certain parts of the F&B operation were not functioning well, either due to 'teething problems' or the rumours of COVID impacting on the crew.

The managers in La Terrazza & Atlantide looked increasingly stressed out as the cruise progressed and this filtered through to their teams. So - on this occasion I - uncharacteristically - chose not to 'kick up' which would have no doubt added to their stress.

Had a delish ”Celebration the end of Quarintine” with Gary Gary M Cohen and Joan Cohen last night. Joan spent a week in quarantine and finally was released a few days ago.  We toasted with a delightful Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rose Champagne.  We spent a good chunk of the evening fondly talking about our wonderful fursons (pets).  We were the last of two tables in the Atlantide.  So nice to see the Cohens enjoying themselves together!

This morning we’re now docked on Monte Carlo. View from my veranda below

Not that I observedBrian,  but did see some visitors thinking they were Monaco  TA’s

here is todays post:

Good Afternoon Glitzy and Glam Monte Carlo!

Famed for its low tax status and Formula One race that roars though its hairpin bends and tight streets each year (this May).

Monaco is a renown playground for the uber rich and famous.Every where look the high rise hotels look our on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea—you can soak up the culture or raise your stakes as the casino, of course, doing your finest 007 impression.

I stumbled on a gem just next to the cruise terminal—Fort Antoine.  And during the exploration of this fascinating Fort, met a couple that we’re taking a selfie and then offered to take their photo.

First, they asked are you Mr weiner from that other Social Media, nice surprise. They were taking a photo from the same  spot they took 17years ago.  Grand Prix 🇲🇨 is huge here pls enjoy snaps of the massive construction getting ready for Grand Prix 2022 and some pix of the dozens of yachts that magnificently are berthed in the Monaco harbor. For those of you who've eaten in the S.A.L.T restaurant on the Moon or Dawn, does the menu change every night?  When and where is the menu posted?  Thanks!  I'm looking forward to enjoying the S.A.L.T. venues on the Dawn this October.
