We have been following your posts. Today we depart on our transatlantic on the Reflection. So far you have avoided Covid. Do you have any pointers to share?

Hope you have a nice crossing.   Been a bit on the rough on the Mid Atlantic Crossing.. If I recall Reflections is a southern crossing which may be smoother.

We are heading north toward Portugal and the winds a really strong today but mostly sunny.

Jim,  I would be interested in learning how Iain and you spend your time during days at sea.  Could you give us percentage of how you spend your waking hours?  Walking, reading, partaking in ship provided entertainment, chatting with other passengers, working, eating, etc.

I have been keeping track of your adventure and find it very interesting.

Cheers

I always tell the stateroom attendant a sniper could pick us off as we are so predictable.

I usually get up at 7:30 and grab a couple Cappuccino's and do my postings to CC.   Iain sleeps until the breakfast arrives at the latest time slot 9:15-9:30.

We usually leave for out walks at 10:15  and I usually finish off the first 15,000 steps by 12:30.   We go to lunch at 12:45 and usually back to the room by 1:30.

Iain usually takes a 1 hour nap and I finish off my walk in about 30-45 minutes.

The rest of the afternoon we grab a coffee and wander around the ship.   We rarely go to any of the planned events or shows unless we are traveling with friends that want to go.

We hang out in the room and I try to get caught up on CC and watch a bit of tv until 6:45 and then time to get showered and dressed for the evening.

Iain goes for a smoke at 7:15 and I meet him in Retreat at 7:30.   We hang out in the Retreat until 8:45 and then to dinner.   By the time we finish it is usually 10-10:30.    Luminae can be quite leisurely if you choose.

OK, you two are looking way too relaxed!  Enjoy the rest of your voyage!!

It does take a good 10 days to get totally relaxed.   That's why it is so critical to take longer cruises or B2B's.

Sorry, you quite correct. We are a mixture of NYPD and FDNY and you just can’t take me anyplace! I feel like an embarrassment to the “family.” During what time span was Dad active……I’m talking a loooong time ago!

My Grandpa was NYPD, my uncle was the Deputy CHief in charge of the police academy, my cousin was one of the first female narcs.  So both NYPD & FDNY in my family also

Hi Pam

We tested ourselves this morning, both Negative.

We will test ourselves tomorrow and test again Wednesday morning before our Antigen tests so we don’t have any nasty surprises.

Yes we had 2 face masks and two bottles of hand sanitizer waiting in our room.   They also have extra regular masks at guest relations and hand out for those without masks to go on the tour buses and terminal.

Wow, the weather looks lovely. Lisbon is a great place to just wander around, lots of famous landmarks to take pictures of. Not a big fan of them, but there are Hop on Hop off busses if you like them.

Watch out for pick pockets!!

PS The Carmo Archaeological Museum, in central Lisbon, is very good.

Are you docking at city center or down by the bridge?

We are docking at the main pier and terminal downtown.

We have been there and agree it is very interesting.    Will see what’s up once feet are on the ground.

Here's the air evacuation -  took almost 24 hours to upload.    I eventually killed the upload from phone and transferred to may PC where it only took about 1 hour.    Every time the iPhone closed it would pause the upload.    Sorry it is rather long as I don't have any video edit capabilities my phone

As you are docking with this Church in view, the Hop on Hop off buses leave from just outside the ship.  However, there is a one way system, so the bus takes a journey along the river and then doubles back . Wasted time, so if you are capable of walking, cross the road and walk up into the town.

Be aware of the trolley buses as you cross roads.

The Explorers monument is down river, near the Estuary.

We are headed to Malta in a couple days to board the Star Flyer for a 13 night Med cruise, so wanted to pass this on to you.

Porto and Bilbao are great places for walking around and taking pictures.  In Bilboa, we went to the El Globo Taberna for a classic pintxos lunch (their version of tapas).  It's in the middle of town and not far from the museum.  It was not touristy and had a lot of locals and business types.  You pay for drinks at the bar, but then order your food at the counter where the plates are made.  We had to point, because pronunciation was too funny.  They would bring you as much as you want, then bill you at the end.  Great people watching.

Thank you so much for bringing this to us;  and the time etc it took to upload.  Had concerns for the patient as it seemed to take a few days for the helicopter to arrive.  Hopefully all will turn out well for him/her.

Did you video from the 16th deck?

I shot the video from the upper Retreat Sundeck  Deck 16 Port side.   No information on the condition of the passenger.    I would assume, since they only took the one passenger off that spouse or family are sill aboard.   Must be a very trying time.

Our hearts are with them.

They have been making announcements that we have not yet been cleared.   100% of guest and crew need the Passenger Identification form filled out, regardless if planning on going ashore or not for the ship to be cleared.   They have terminals available in the Meeting Place for those that have not completed.   Ugh...

I would have thought they would have tracked this down before we arrived.

Get some Pasteis de Belem.   So good!

Is that the Egg Custards?

We took the tram from the Centre to Belem, about an hours journey. We got a Taxi back to the Port, 20 Minutes and about the same cost for the four of us.

Yes.  Had some from a bakery in town also.  They were good but not as good as those from Belem.
