Ugh, never realized we can get OBC for being a shareholder of over 100 shares.  Can I still get my OBC to a FCC after a cruise?

Probably not but keep a copy of all your texts and emails in case so you have something to show them if you don't receive it before the cruise.

Once you do get it and it shows in the Personalizer, take a screen shot.

The OBC is the main reason or for most the only reason people buy Carnival shares.

I'm pretty certain OBC wasn't available for P&O Princess shareholders before the merger with Carnival in 2003, so wasn't the reason I acquired them.

Got this email today. Apparently the pre-cruise time limit is being enforced again. Many do not use the form and would not know. Others may not get the magnifying glass out for the small print. Should be bold on the form IMO.

Good Day,

We received your shareholders benefit request, however it’s too soon to be applied. Per the terms and conditions of this benefit (which is located in the fine print at the botton of the Benefits Request form) your statement is not to be dated more then 3 months prior to your sailing departure date. Please resubmit 3 months before the sailing departure date.

If you have any questions please contact Princess Cruises at 800-774-6237.

Than you,

It was. But no need to explain yourself, it’s nobody’s business.

I don't mind them enforcing a maximum time, I just hope they keep accepting last-minute requests (like a week before sailing) even though the fine print says they won't.

Interesting...this link is dead for me....allowing longer times for the SOBC allowed Princess cruisers to use it for booking excursions...this was especially popular for Alaska sailings.

Have to wonder why the link is dead...?

A month go, I submitted a Share Holder Credit request for 2 cruises in August. It was never applied because the cruises on the Sapphire were cancelled. However, they did then apply the SHC to my Panama Canal cruise in January 2023...

When I rescheduled my cancelled cruise to a June 2022 Alaska cruise. I submitted my request for SHC. After a week with no response, I submitted again. Both times via email. Still getting no response, I emailed my PVP and he was able to get it added on.

I'm also on a June 2022 Alaska cruise waiting for the SHC to be applied, although I just booked and submitted a few days ago.  Have had the shares for a few years but this is my first opportunity to actually claim the credit.

Is there a point where it's cutting it too close (given they want the paperwork no more than 3-4 weeks out) and one can call in and ask a rep to take care of it over the phone?  I've seen people mention waits from a few hours to a few weeks, but they were all months away from their respective cruises.

Prior to these last few attempts, I've never had it take more than a day or two for the credit to appear. Perhaps they are being overwhelmed these days with cruising picking back up.'

Depending on what your departure date is (mine is June 8th) I would give them another few days. Then re-submit or try contacting your PVP

I'm June 25 and have only been waiting a couple of days, so I can wait a bit longer.  I might try faxing on attempt #2, in a few days, if I get anxious (I emailed the first time).  I just don't want to be too laid back only to be told, "Oh you should have let us known sooner!  It's too late now!" 😋

I've been looking for anecdotes from cruisers who didn't hear back in time and what they did, but haven't seen any.  Maybe that's a good sign? 🙂

We recently submitted ours and it took about a week to show up

Thanks for the data point.  I was thinking a week would be the right amount of waiting, too.  If they process it on the spot, great; if they assure it takes, say, "up to two weeks", that gives me some time to follow up again.

It may be the main reason that cruisers buy it, but I suspect that less than 1% of CCL Corp shares are in the portfolios of those who only bought it for the OBC benefit.

(CCL Corp has about 1,175,000,000 issued shares. 1% would be 11,750,000 shares which would be100 shares for up to 117,500 cruisers.)

I remember long ago that someone here on CC submitted a request and received a reply that said "You must own 100 shares of CCL to qualify for the SOBC"  The CC member owned 200 shares or more and had submitted that in her application.

Moral: If you qualify for the credit, do not hesitate to apply again.  Apparently their personnel training needs some improvement.

On a cruise in Feb I had the OBC applied, and on embarkation day got an email from them saying I need to resubmit the request to include my booking number, even though it was in the title and body of the email. Somebody working from home during omicron must either have been not terribly smart, or had started home happy hour too early.

Where in the Personalizer will it appear (Payments?) along with other OBC Credits, like the one I get from my TA?

I applied for my credit via email on June 10. The credit showed up today--12 days later.

I applied on the 8th and still waiting for it to show up. Cruise is in Mid August, so I'm giving it another week before I submit it again.

When you log into your account it will show your member #, Captain's Circle #, Cruises Sailed, Cruise Days and On Board Credits.

Well, thats interesting, the $30pp that my TA gave me does not show up there. I only see it under the Payments Section of 'Manage Reservation'.

I had to recently contact Princess regarding stockholder benefits.  I had a pleasant experience.  I called 800 872 6779 and waited to speak to an operator.  I did not enter extension 30317.  Upon being connected with the operator, I asked to speak with someone about shareholder benefits.  I was connected with a very nice and helpful lady who was able to resolve my concerns.  At the end of our conversation, she asked, "How long were you on hold before we were connected?"  I said it had been about 45 minutes. (No biggie to me, I was happy to have the problem solved.)  She retorted, "That is really bad.  I am going to give you an extra $50.00 OBC for being so patient."  And she did!!  Long story short:  do not enter the extension and be patient.

The extension has changed to 13028 according to the operator.
