AncientWanderer Posted May 20, 2022 #76 Share Posted May 20, 2022 @rafinmdRoy, I just received a notification on my phone that I have tickets for "Come From Away" on this Sunday here in San Diego. So you will be in mind on Sunday as we're watching your favorite show and you are off on your glorious cruise. My show tickets are from season tickets pre-covid. I didn't even know it had been rescheduled. A very nice surprise. And a heartfelt Bon Voyage, Roy.

I'm busy getting ready for my own trip, just got back from testing negative for our PCR's; but I wanted to pop in and wish you a bon voyage. Have a great time! I know I will. Hey Bruno Just wanted to congrats on the negative testing and I hope you and your dad have a wonderful safe cruise. Looking forward to hearing your comparison between Holland and Princess after your return. Enjoy - Maryell
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted May 20, 2022 #78 Share Posted May 20, 2022 Good Evening All, It’s been a reflective and rather sad today as we attended the funeral of a friend’s mom, who played a “second mom” role to me when I was little. It was a lovely tribute to a special lady. As it’s still Plant Veggies Day I’m contributing these of our new veggies garden, and my latest Kratky ( hydroponic) lettuce. poops. I must have had my iPad upside down! Have a great evening everyone! 18 1

We did the ho-ho bus tour and saw all the usual suspects, Louvre, Eiffel tower, Notre Dame (all of which have already been shared). We also passed the Moulin Rouge. and had a very non-Parisienne lunch before heading back to the ship. The third time in LeHavre was the second leg of the previous cruise on Constellation, a TA from Southampton to Miami (12/1/2012). This time we visited Mont-Saint-Michel. Views from the top Our fourth visit was 5/10/2014, another B2B. This time was Ruby Princess TA from FLL to Southampton. We rented a car and drove to Honfleur. OMG -- rotisserie chickens dripping all that fat onto potatoes!!! 😋 (Can't believe we didn't try this! 🤯) Lunch 5th time was the second stop on the Ruby B2B, 5/22/2014. We took a ship tour to Rouen. The last time in LeHavre was 4/13/2017 on a TA from FLL to Hamburg on the Regal Princess. We just went into town, visited the market and what else....a pub.🍻 Phew, sorry for all this -- when I get on a roll sometimes I just can't stop 🤣 Back to the packing. Kay Popping in late to say. The chicken and potatoes are wonderful! Miss Camilla makes me smile! 10

Those big eyes seem to want to take in the entire world. Sharon, the bus we took was not provided by the ship or the port of Naxos. It was Interbus which is a bus service connecting towns in Sicily. We got the bus about two blocks from the tender dock in Naxos and it dropped us off at the bus station in Taormino. The station is down the hill from the gate to the old walled city, but it was not a hard walk up the hill. When we were ready to head back to Naxos, we waited at the bus station for the correct bus. You might want to add a few minutes in case you have to wait on the correct bus back to Naxos. Here are a couple of links to Interbus and BusBud, which should give you more information. The cost is not bad either. This one I had trouble getting it to translate into English https://www-interbus-it.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=it&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc https://www.busbud.com/en-ca/bus-schedules-results/sqdz5r/sqdz7g?outbound_date=2022-05-20&adults=1 This is a picture of the bus. The creosote used as a preservative is one I also recognize, but I don't think I could describe it either. Once you have smelled it, you will know what it is the next time. I don't really remember a distinctive small from the creosote plants around Quartzsite. Lenda Our port after Kotor was Gladina Naxos, which serves Taormina. Although Windstar does not encourage independent travel sadly, we found the bus to Taormina. It was fine and the walk up hill would have been very difficult for us. 9

Thank you so much! Also wishing you a great cruise. We saw the Princess ship up there while on the Eurodam and thought, h'mmm, gorgeous ship -- maybe next time. Let us know how the Medallion works out. That's my one hesitation. We've enjoyed Princess cruises, but haven't used the Medallion yet. Enjoy beautiful Alaska! 😊 4

I'm trying to keep an open mind with Medallion and ignore the tales of woe for now at least, it's not easy because the Princess forum is filled with them. As to the ship itself...sigh...I don't know, it'll be different for sure because I have yet to experience a true atrium on a ship; HAL's little dinky atriums were so tiny and under utilized so they don't quite compare. I will let everybody know how it all goes.
