Luminae - Poor choice of Red Wines

Noticed from the App, that the  Luminae Dining Menu only showed only showed 4 red wines within the packages.

Hope that improves by the Cruise. . The MDR has 7 choices !

Certainly a lot more available  when we last Cruised - August 2021

Talk to your Sommelier, the menu does not show everything that is available.

If wine is important to you, perhaps you’d consider buying a bottle of better wine from the wine list rather than drink the selections they include with beverage packages which likely costs the cruise line less

than $4.00 a glass.

We've found that neither the app nor the paper menu list all the wines that are available in Luminae. In our experience if you have found a wine you like elsewhere on the ship they will try and get it for you. And we have sometimes taken the sommelier's recommendation - they seem to have access to wines within the Premium package range which don't seem to be available in other venues.
Overall we've had no complaints about access to interesting and varied wines when we've been lucky enough to be a suite guest.

MDR on the other hand is a different matter!! 😀

If you see a wine on the MDR list that looks better to you than the ones on the Luminae list, ask for it.  They should be able to accommodate you.  If not, I’d have a talk with someone.

I am posting on the turnaround day of a B2B on the Solstice.  We are in a suite.  We told our sommelier that we like to try a variety of interesting wines, and she has provided some excellent recommendations.  We have had more than four red wine options.

If you get a sommelier who cares about satisfying the guests he  / she will find very good wines within a few dollars of the premium package. We have often gotten refills while only paying for one upgrade. The Luminae sommeliers have been very good. With excellent service we have always given additional tips.

Last night we were offered a Cherry Pie wine which is about $8 in Costco.   We declined and got something slightly better.

I need to check out Costco. Cherry Tart Pinot Noir? It’s $40 ish at Total Wine……I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t offer an $8 bottle of wine on the Premium package

They always had decoy on our cruises, decent wine . Since we can now bring on two bottles per person planing on bringing on a few somewhat upscale . Went to a recent wine dinner in Dallas really enjoyed the silver oak both the Napa and Alexander valley Cabernet.

That was our experience in the Luminae on the Equinox last year. We found plenty of good wines by the glass,

Was it Cherry Pie Pinot Noir? If so, that's a great wine. Have you seen it in Costco for $8. I'm in CA and would love to be able to get it for that price.

We also love the Cherry Tart Cherry Pie Pinot and at our local Total wine it is about $14, bought a couple of bottles last week and will enjoy a bottle tonight with some fresh Sockeye salmon.

We've had very good experiences with the sommeliers in Luminae. Let them know what you're looking for by profile, region, grape, pairing, etc. The more you give them to work with, the better job they can do.

We tend to hang out at Cellar Masters and Michaels, so we should have a good feel for what is available on the ship. I doubt we will ever go to the MDR.

The OP was posting about lack of choices in Luminae.
