One Person in Cabin of 2 Cancels

Recommended Posts

What to do when One Person in Cabin of 2 Cancels due to medical emergency in family.  Does the person that is going on the cruise just show up at the port and let RCCL know then that there’ll only be one? We realize no refund with the cruise a week out but should the person not going get port and taxes back?  Looking for best way to handle situation.

Yes its automatic the port fees and taxes are refunded after the cruise.

Agree have them be a no show. Cancelling ahead of time the person left  right be refared.

When you walk up indicate you are checking in for yourself only.  Don’t say anything.  They will get their fees back and can talk directly with their insurance company.  When they don’t show up they will be marked as a no show. Mums the word

You might want to call your travel agent and check options. We just dropped the second person in a cabin with no "reprice" for a cruise about 50 days out and we are getting taxes/port fees back. Preferred the "honest option" since we knew second person wasn't going to be able to cruise. Ours was considered a "group booking" through a large "big box" travel agent so not sure if this had an effect, but figured it was worth asking and had no issues.

No one will ask and no one will care...you don't need to say a thing. The no show will receive their port fees, taxes and any pre-paid items back to the credit card used to make their final payment.

What makes it honest or dishonest?

You can book a cruise and not show up for it, just like you can book a hotel room or a flight or a concert ticket and not show up for it.  You just don't get your money back, in most cases.  It's not dishonest or honest or anything like that.
