Will you have the chance to get across from Oban to Mull and then on to either Iona or Staffa? -Melisa Mull is on our stops.

If you fly from Auckland to San Francisco which airline would you choose for business class, preferably non-stop. I've spent a little time googling and so far haven't found a non-stop. Last time I flew home from Auckland I went on Qantas which took me from AKL to SYD to LAX to SFO!! It was alright but non-stop would be better of course. I'll continue to search but your firsthand knowledge would be great. Thanks, ~Nancy @oakridger We have in the past flown Auckland to SFO return on Air New Zealand, business class, I manage to sleep for several hours on the lie flat seats. We have used Air New Zealand Business class, for all our flights to /from North America Last evening flight NZ 8, Auckland to SFO, departed 7.50 pm, arrived 1250 pm SFO, flight time 12 hours 11minutes. Are you planning to cruise during our summer season this year?

It looks like either Air New Zealand or United will be the best bets. I like the idea of flying ANZ just because it's the national carrier and it's new to me. I have been looking at cruises in early 2023 out that way, but realistically will probably wait until early 2024. I have two months of cruise and land travel coming in September - November this year so it may be better to space out the long trips until 2024. I'll see how things go later this year. ~Nancy 6
Rare rafinmd Posted July 29, 2022 #105 Share Posted July 29, 2022 @erewhon how is New Zealand doing with Covid these days. I understand Australia is having a surge and wondering if it's crossing the sea to you. Roy

Rare Vict0riann Posted July 29, 2022 #108 Share Posted July 29, 2022 (edited) Jacqui, the Cellar Master dinner was $79 + gratuity. It really was excellent. Classified as “Mediterranean “, it was organized between Cellar Master Miroslav (Miki), and our Italian Executive Chef, Cesare (who makes his home in Victoria, and was on our Eurodam cruise last October), also the ship’s executive chef, Ashley, and Csaba attended, and chatted with the 40 or so attendees. As we ate, icebergs slowly drifted past us, so it was quite an experience. Miki gave lots of information about the wines, and Cesare popped in between courses to talk about the food. Rare Vict0riann Posted July 29, 2022 #109 Share Posted July 29, 2022 We had the new tiles on our bed this morning when we came back from breakfast in Club Orange. I haven’t heard anything about a Mariner reception. We did have drinks the day we boarded in Billboard on Board. 8

As we do eat meat, I didn’t ask, if I see Cesare around, I’ll ask him. The one thing about Cellar Master Dinners (and the Master Chef’s Dinners of the past) is that they are all different, so it would be hard to say what another chef and CM would decide on. That’s what we like about them , the old De Librije, Le Cirque and now the Pinnacle Gala dinners are set and the same every time, so really worth only doing once, unless you really liked it. 4
HAL Sailer Posted July 29, 2022 #112 Share Posted July 29, 2022 5 hours ago, aliaschief said: Mull is on our stops. @aliaschief The Isle of Mull is lovely. My last memory was of an unexpected hike. Returning from a week on Iona, our coach was crossing Mull headed for the ferry to Oban when we came upon a lorry accident. The roads on Mull are barely a lane wide with many turnouts for passing, but there was no way by for our coach and a lengthy delay was predicted. The decision was made that another coach would come from the opposite direction and we would hike to the closest place the new coach could turn. So, off we went trundling our bags down the main road about a mile to the closest turnaround. All among us were physically able, but some bitterly complained. Others knew it was the making of a great memory! -Melisa 5
