Anyone else shocked at price increases?

99% i only watch Galveston and watching Jubilee, 8 and 14 day dream. I've done the rest to death. Jubilee new ship, dream 8 day goes to their island and the 4 longer ones, 2 go eastern, st kitts etc, and 2 to colon Panama etc.

I checked prices a day or two ago. I could book the oct 2022 panama for starting $2638 plus $150 taxes. The jan 2024 prices started 2438 plus taxes or there about. I was hoping the oct price dropped and I might have squeezed it in. Rcl doesnt allow price drops after final so after final there are sometimes deals.

Wow ..Oct 2022 up almost $300 starting. Jan 2024 not up as much but 2518 plus the $150 taxes. Still up. Its only a day or two since I last looked. I dont know if prices are up all over or just the ones I want to book. Jan 2024 the price is for a 1A upper and lower. Port holes long since sold out. Gty $80 more inside. Pick a inside $160 more. ...for jan 2024!  Closer in are even higher. Eastern thru the roof for the 14 day cruises.

I'm going to wait for carnival to release next batch but prices do seem up up and away on carnival. Since I rarely gamble and dont get casino offers, no incentive to book just to book. Rcl is cheaper. I'm only interested in the special cruises. Both of these are up $ last 2 days! Carnival needs more of these with a different port itinerary. Must be a big demand.

Not surprised , Cahill was replaced so this was expected. Let's see how long this runs before it bottoms out to be a loss for Carnival in the long run.

Also, perhaps some computer Wizz could tell us if the more a person clicks on a link, watch for the price to increase.

Not a programming wizz by any stretch of the imagination, but it is not a secret the airlines do this with their fares.  I don't think it would be too far of a stretch to think Carnival adopted this pricing strategy.

The bacon crisis is finally catching up to us I see.

Don't quite buy it....Carnival has a bacon crisis, but the other lines we have been on since the restart (7 cruises thus far away from Carnival) had plenty to spare.  Cost cutting?  Perhaps.  Crisis?  Only if they have inadequate suppliers.

Supply vs Demand, I suspect.

With the recent announcements about "health" protocols, many people have started to book, and that reduces inventory.  Just like hotels, the cruise lines have a sliding scale of price vs remaining inventory, influenced by how far out from sailing. You book on the first day the sailings are released, and snag the first cabin sold in that class, you get the best available price.  If you go to book a cabin months later and there is only one cabin left in that class, expect to pay a lot more.

If people are booking lots of cabins in a particular "fare grade", it will look like the cruise line is actively raising prices, but really it is just that the cheaper cabins are sold, leaving pricier inventory.

But it is also possible Carnival chose to raise prices across the board in an active manner, to leverage the situation.

It's only shocking if you both ignore the laws of supply and demand, and believed the echo chamber of a dozen or so online cruisers who believe everyone wanted to sail with COVID protocols.

I assume there have been people just itching at the bit to sail, and jumped on the first opportunity. This likely won't be a forever thing. Prices should eventually stabilize.

Exactly, I was zero cruises booked two weeks ago and as of today I have four booked.

Indeed, all those folks on the sidelines who were champing at the bit (some may have been itching at the bit as well) are the reason for increase in prices. They can be more selective now, with the increase in the available pools of customers. A lot of folks didn't want to deal with that nonsense and some were even excluded altogether, the floodgates have reopened, how long that lasts will be the real test. Hopefully, the industry can ramp up workers to meet the demand and keep folks rebooking.

I like to tinker in my spare time, so I explore the process often to see if the price will jump up on several cruises. Sure enough.

This has nothing to do with Cahill.  It is mainly due to the increase in booking demand along with the general price increase due to inflation.

Glad I booked Carnival to Europe next year and the Jubilee for 2024 back earlier this year with the birthday sale. Prices are  now up $1800 on my Pride 12 day and up $1200 on my 2024 Jubilee. My Celebrity Cruise just jumped $1500 for 2024 as well. Whew! ....

Agree! Saved 3K+ on two cruises booked with that deal. Heck of an opportunity to be sure.
