Converting OBC into cash at casino

 Share

Recommended Posts

How do I convert OBC into cash in the casino?  My TA just informed me of the amount and it was much more than I thought.  We don't drink much or eat often in the specialty restaurants.  Our gratuities and drink package have have already been prepaid.  We don't spend a lot in the shops either.

I'm looking at a way to get a few $$$ back and possibly spending that on a future cruise.  Do we simply put our card into the slot machine, charge the amount of the OBC to our account, play a few $$$ and cash out?

We will be on the Odessey if that makes any difference. And yes I tried to do a "search".

Thanks.

Yes, you can go to a slot machine and charge an amount to your room. The amount you charge will be downloaded to the slot machine. You need to play a bit before you cash out.

I did not have to play at all in March on Harmony.  It may be one of those YMMV situations.  Try just cashing out first, if it doesn’t work, play minimally then do it.

You don't have to play any of it.  There's a $500 max per day.  If you do it in more than one trip and you don't gamble a certain portion of it your card gets frozen for I believe a day or two.  Not sure what the amount that you need to play is if you do it in more than one day.

Yes, I heard that the casino would "freeze" your account if you did not play a portion of what was downloaded not allow you to charge more on the slot machine), but if you are doing it as a one-time event, ten probably would not be a problem.

Odyssey is a new ship, so you can transfer at the machine itself.  Just an FYI, how you cash in is dependent on the ship class/age.  On EN (Vision class) for example, you can't transfer it from your account to your bank at the machine, you have to go to the window and they will print out vouchers for you to use. Although, you can transfer your status free play at the machine.  It shows that but not OBC.   I usually play a couple of times and then cash it in before the end of the cruise.

I call BS.   There is NO way they could enforce that.    People play at the tables and never produce a SEAPASS; could easily claim I spent it at tables OR I played it at another machine without the card.

Not BS!
My account was frozen because I drew out $100 and did not play; cashed out immediately. When I went back the next day got the next $100 account was frozen. Had to go to cashier; she said they saw I did not play, and that you had to play at least 25% before cashing out. I pleaded innocence and they reset the card.

They can track the slot machine voucher.

I thought OBC from a TA was refundable and would be returned to your credit card if you don’t use it all. I’m hoping that’s true because we have a large amount on our cruise coming up that I know I won’t use.

Yes, it will sometimes say on your account "OBC refundable".

If refundable just go to customer service and cash out what you need.
Done it a few times.

This last time I had just over 100 left on my OBC second to last day...had spent all I wanted on it around the ship.  Figured I would cash it out on the slot, but would gamble with the couple of bucks over the 100 before I did.

First slot...thing jammed up first hit.  I approached one of the casino crew members, who told me to sit and wait, since he was busy.  OK.  Finally came over and got the glitch out.  Told him I would still rather try another machine.

2nd machine.  Hit the first bet...the thing started spinning and making weird noises.  Ok..here we go again.  😑

By the time it stopped spinning on my minimal bet...my balance now read 223.00.  Ummm...what??!! 😮

Quickly cashed out.  😉
