I need to correct my statement; we did have a Sunday brunch on Navigator; sort of a disaster.  Never repeated.

To be honest I wasn’t at all disappointed.  I prefer a regular breakfast early, rather than facing mounds of food mid morning.  We have noticed that when we are sat on the port side in Compass Rose the service tends to be slow.  We now ask for seating on the starboard side each time.

Received our 30th Anniversary Cruise gift last evening. A set of very heavy coasters! A nice gesture.

One thing no one seems to be commenting on is the toilet situation. Every morning, it seems, the toilets won’t flush for upwards of an hour. Seems like a big problem - big enough that everyone received a notice last night to put nothing but TP down the drain. We’ve seen quite a few maintenance folks working in the hallways on 7 and 8.

During Mariner‘s last sailing from Alaska we also had  the problem of nonfunctioning toilets. One day it lasted four hours. We were also without running water. That affected the whole ship.  The morning of disembarkation we also had no functioning toilets.

Last night was the SSS party, with a reasonable attendance.

One new Titanium guest received their pin and there were a number of long service crew awards (5 & 10 years). Good to see.

Being SSS night, we were looking forward to the Miso Sea Bass in Compass Rose.

However, this dish has been replaced with Miso Black Cod; same flavour but inferior texture, in our opinion

There was no problem with the temperature - the cheese board was in the dining room in Chartreuse but was just not brought to the table; rather they served a piece from each cheese available.

Like you we prefer to make a selection at the table.

Today we had an enjoyable day in Ensenada.

The excursion we chose was excellent (ENS-009 VIP Wine Tasting with Gourmet Lunch)

From the port we drove to a boutique winery, hotel & restaurant called Matilde in the Guadalupe Valley.

We descended into the cellar for a tasting of one white & two reds in very comfortable surroundings.

The winery

We were then escorted to a restaurant overlooking the vineyard for a 3 course delicious meal, accompanied by another of their red wines😋

The restaurant

Then it was back on the bus for the journey back to the port; our guide supplying karaoke accompaniment to keep us all awake.

A+ for this included excursion 👍

Please correct us if we are wrong, but we believe the sea bass is offered only in Pacific Rim on the Explorer and Splendor, and the black cod is found at Compass Rose.

No, Pacific Rim has black cod, and always had it. Compass Rose used to have sea bass, but now changed to black cod.

We had the Seven Seas Aft suite on Mariner's first Alaskan itinerary (along with ChatCat, but we didn't know her at the time).  We also did basically what you are doing later on; had booked the same suite but there was a double upgrade fluke that put us in a Grand Suite at the front of the ship.  That was some kind of anniversary cruise, we got a t-shirt but if there were activities we weren't included.

A few observations about the entertainment this cruise.

Production Cast: OK, but certainly not the best we have seen. The female singers are very good but the boys’ voices & personalities are a little weak.

We enjoyed Broadway in Concert last night.

Regent Band: A very good ensemble with a couple of excellent soloists (clarinet & guitar) who perform in Mariners & Horizon

Pianist: Very enjoyable

Duo: A talented pair that we have not seen before, but hope to see again in the future. Vaughan & Maxine, siblings, play a varied selection of easy listening numbers in the bars.

Also the normal selection of daytime games, Mensa &Trivia, a karaoke night & name that tune

Forgot to mention:

Visiting performers: Broadway singer, Jeri Sager, and comedian, Phil Tag, each appeared twice in the 9:30pm slot in the theatre.

Tonight Social Hostess, Cherisse Martinelli, proved to be an accomplished singer when she performed a pre-dinner cabaret at 6pm in the theatre, supported by the band.

At 9pm it was Beatles Night in Horizon. We arrived late due to very convivial shared table in Prime 7; the lounge & dance floor were packed and the production singers & band were doing an excellent job.

Our guest bathroom toilet (at the entrance to our suite) has not functioned properly since day one.  Sometimes the flush delays by several minutes, and twice so far it just stopped working completely.  The ensuite toilet wouldn’t flush one morning, and when I called down they said that they were aware of the problem.  I think the age of the ship may have something to do with it.  We  will be on the Navigator in 2025 and I shudder to thin how it will be on there.

Used the HO-HO bus (Regent included excursion) for a tour around SF & over the Golden Gate Bridge this morning.

Alighted at Union Square for a requisite retail experience then travelled back to the ship (pier 27) on one of the historic streetcars ($1.50 each)

Sun peaked through the cloud on occasion but it remained cool all day.

Silver Wind was also docked nearby

Having fun on the ship.  Met Flossie and the cruise critic folks the other day.  Cruise is generally good, most staff very good.  Little errors like wrong drinks delivered, less attentiveness in Compass Rose, but in general, the Regent experience.

We got bumped from our selected cabin (seems the “trainee” cruise director for the next leg wanted it) to a comparable cabin but we were disappointed that they would shift us when we had selected and confirmed a particular cabin.  This in turn, appears to have caused my daily Wall Street Journal to not get delivered to me.  Spoke to the front desk after three days - they assured me it would be corrected. Still not getting it long into the cruise.  Spoke to GM today about but he said nothing that inspired confidence that I would get it.  Davor would have it fixed quickly - this GM , eh.  Sorry to rant, but the internet speed makes it very difficult for me to read it online.

The cruise overall is pretty good but sometimes the little issues that the GM can’ t or won’t fix can be irritating.

How do you get the Wall St journal delivered?

That is a benefit for guests with Gold status.  We have one delivered and then on sea days DH will spend some time in the library reading other newspapers

Yeah, we usually get the NYTimes.  And as you said, people bring their printed "newspapers" down to the library when they're done with them, so there's usually some around to read.  I also believe you can pay for this if you're not Gold--good way to use a credit.
