Thank you for the Nicole day report, Rich.  I'll salute both Carl Sagan and World Freedom Days but won't be going to an Art Museum or anywhere else today, hunkering down for the day and getting a bit more optimistic about boarding Eurodam tomorrow.  I like the Monroe quote but have not been to Ilfracombe.  Not sure about the meal but probably better than what I will actually get today (other than a nice breakfast).  My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Lamb Chop with Mint Chimichurri, and Dutch Apple Pie as served on MS Prinsendam November 9, 2017.

I think the person I talked to at the front desk was not the sharpest tool in the shed.  It turns out he apparently made an additional reservation for LAST night.  I talked to the front desk this morning and have my room for another night.  We will sort out the details later this morning.

Today’s care list:

Those in the path of Nicole, including me and HAL Sailer
Quartzite Cruiser DH clot complications interrupting surgery
Kazu severe foot injury
Grapau27, smitty34877 postponing joint replacement
Kazu sister recovering from fall
Ottahand7 Brother in rehab
Lady Hudson DH recovering from oral surgery
HAL Sailer Sister in Law with aggressive cancer therapy and new blood clot
Mister67 persistent hand injury
cruisin single step-son with double cancer and months of recovery before kidney removal
From the rotation:
Luvteaching DH recovering from fall and facing dimentia
Status of St. Louis Sal (7/1) and JAM37 (7/7)
Cruisin Terri leak damage and recalcitrant insurance company
Sandi’s neighbor Linda recovering at home

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

New cat for 4966 and 556
Marshhawk at the Symphony
Sharon in Charleston
The end of election ads (except possibly in Georgia to 12/6)
Ichiban Nekko settling into new house
Sandi’s neighbor Linda well enough to receive visitors
Work about to start on Cruisin Terri’s house
1 day for me (hopefully) (Eurodam 11/10 to 11/20)

@grapau27 Thank you for the food porn.  That fish looks so good!

Does anyone else think that it is too early to put up Christmas?  It looks nice, but too early!

@dfishThank you for the recipes.  I had pumpkin soup in Jamaica, and it was fabulous.  I had no idea how healthy pumpkin was for you.  I guess I will have to eat more pie.😸

I agree, way too early!   It's not special if it's there too long.

But, to each his/her own.  Enjoy what you like.

We've battened down the hatches.  Here we go again!  2 hurricanes in one year.

Sunrise cocktail:

Ingredients
2 parts Hornitos® Reposado Tequila
2 parts Orange Juice
2 dashes Grenadine
Orange Twist

Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice, shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

I'll never forget 2004 when we had 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks, Charlie, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne. We were living in Naples at the time and made out well.

Prayers for all in need and hoping there will not be too much damage from Nicole.  If DH and I had cruised as planned our ship has had several itinerary changes.  Nicole is causing some havoc.

DH ate soup yesterday and the inside of a piece of quiche — no crust.  Maybe some cut up Mac and cheese today.  I think I will also make some crockpot beef stew.   DH can eat the broth and noodles.

Roy — your adventure continues!  Best of luck for boarding tomorrow.  Katherine

I will gladly celebrate World Freedom Day, especially since we are free from the political ads.  Now I can watch a TV show without cringing every time an ad comes on.

Now they will have more slots for Medicare Open Enrollment and Camp Lejeune lawsuit ads.

How true! Because we live so close to Detroit our over the air channels are mostly American, cbs, nbc, abc, fox, pbs etc. I watch a lot of dabl (62.3 over the air here) so we got all the election ads and of course all the camp  lejeune and Medicare ads.

Good morning from foggy central Texas.  I slept well last night, just stayed up too late watching election results and reading.

DH is doing better and his oxygen levels are up even more.  The doctor is ready to transfer him to a regular room, but so far there are no rooms available.  So we're just waiting for now.

Everyone who saw pictures of the blood clot were impressed with the size.  I mentioned to the nurse we always do things the hard way.  She suggested that maybe we should stop that.  🤣

The last art museum we visited was the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.  I'll also ceelebrate world freedom and Carl Sagan.

As usual the Marilyn Monroe quote was interesting.

We'll pass on the meal since I'm not a fan of pumpkin.  The drink looks interesting, and the wine sounds nice but pricey.

We have not been to today’s port.  I look foward to seeing any pictures.

I hope everyone in Nicole's path stay safe and have no or ninimal damage.

@HAL Sailer  Melisa, I hope you and your DH have a safe drive today, and find the damage to your family's place is not too bad.

@rafinmd  Roy, stay safe today, and I hope you can board Eurodam tomorrow.

@MISTER 67  That is some bandage.  I hope ypu get a smaller one at the next visit.

@ottahand7  Nancy, I and still sending positive thoughts that your DB's doctors can get the infection under contol and that he recovers completely.

@Crazy For Cats  Beautiful flowers.

@dfish  Debbie, I'm glad the unpacking is progressing well.  I wish we could barrel through the rest of the recovery.  DH still has a few days of being flat on his back due to yesterday's procedure.  I think the rehab therapy may have to start over insteadmof picking up where it left off.

@grapau27  Graham, that fish looks good, and so do the Christmas trees.  I do agree that it seems a little early.  We usually put the tree and decorations up the Friday after Thanksgiving.

@marshhawk  Annie, I'm happy you both enjoyed the symphony last night.

@Ellencruise  Welcome to the Fleet/Daily.  We hope to see you here in the future.

@HAL4NOW  Thanks for reminding us of the commercials we can look forward to now that the election is over. 🤣

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

All good day. I was recently at an Art Museum, World Freedom is important and a salute to Carl Sagan (billions and billions of stars was not what he said!). Interesting quote.

I like the meal, drink and wine (a bit pricey for me).

I haven't been to Ilfracombe, England.

Another chilly start to the day, but it's going up to the 60's from our start of 37. I hope they come and vacuum up the leaves today; my pile is huge. I want to mow the lawn a bit later. Also it's injection day.

Prayers for all of those in Nicole's path.

@Crazy For Cats Nice scenery! And lovely flowers. Very nice of DH.

@HAL Sailer I hope the home in FL has minor damage. Safe travels as Nicole approaches.

@rafinmd Stay safe today and I hope boarding goes well tomorrow.

@ottahand7 Continued prayers for DB.

@dfish Good going on the unpacking. Thanks for the recipes.

@grapau27 Lunch looks good. That's the only way I'll eat fish. Nice decorations in the restaurant.

@marshhawk I'm glad you enjoyed the symphony last night.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I'm pleased to hear DH's procedure went well and that most of the clot was able to be removed.

@Ellencruise Welcome to the Daily.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Good morning from a frosty PNW!  We woke up to our first frost this morning, no surprise as it has felt colder and colder the last new nights.  I think it dropped down to the high 20's last night.

I have enjoyed visiting art museums all over the world, and will celebrate world freedom and Carl Sagan.  Will pass on the meal and red wine, but the drink sounds good.  Have not been to the port of the day.

We finally unpacked our "delayed" bags and were very happy to see that the rum we packed from the Dominican Republic made it here safely. 😉  Rich @richwmnyou aren't the only one who left something on the Nieuw Statendam, I left a pair of shoes behind. 😞

@Quartzsite CruiserLenda, great news that your DH is doing better today and will be transferred to a regular room!

@HAL SailerMelissa safe drive!

@rafinmdRoy stay safe today 🙂

@EllencruiseWelcome!!

@HAL4NOWso true about the ads!  🤣  I am SO thankful for fast-forwarding through commercials.  😉

Good morning everyone. Still can't  get on from my ipad.

I love today's quote. Going out with some frineds for lunch today. I am the designated driver because I'm the only one who wont have a glass of wine. I just dont like it.

Roy, how did I miss that Jacqui's sister fell? I just read her last enterties and didn't see it.

Prayers for all on our list that need them and there are a lot. Prayers that our country survives this election no matter what the results.

Stay safe everyone,

Carol

Good morning and thanks all!   The drink and soup look great.  Appreciate all the info on pumpkin @dfish   Glad you’re getting settled. Prayers for everyone on the list.

@marshhawk add me to the too early camp!
We enjoy art museums, some of the small ones are particularly nice,  the Musee Cluny and Marmottan in Paris,   The Frick in NYC,  the Wit de Witt in Rotterdam.  Venice has many excellent lesser known ones,  and going during the Biennale is wonderful.

Our first trip ever to England in the 70’s we visited near Ifracombe,  Lynton and Lynmouth and Lee abbey.  This is beautiful Lorna Doone country.  No photos from then,  but our last trip to England we visited Devon and Cornwall again.  The coast is spectacular!

We stayed in a lovely farmhouse BnB near Bodmin moor.  We visited Port Isaac where Doc Martin is filmed.  There is a particularly high end restaurant if you have deep pockets in Port Isaac where it is filmed,

The only issue is whether to eat your scones with jam on top or bottom of the cream,  depending on if you’re in Cornwall or Devon, lol

Post 273 on her live thread:

The dam shuttle took forever and my sisters and BIL were late.  Apparently everyone on the shuttle was unhappy (I think it was over an hour?)   Fortunately Laura had waited and found them.  My one sister though tried to walk too fast to get to the meeting place and took a tumble. 😢

She has very sore arms.  She did get checked by Medical (after a lot of bugging) and I have given her some of my meds that I had for my foot.

Good morning. I am later today as I got a phone call yesterday afternoon from the doctor’s office that they had a cancellation at eight am today. My DSIL drove me and I had the cortisone injection,returning home with my trusty cane. I was told it takes a week or so to really feel the effects and await good results, I hope.

@Quartzsite Cruiser, Lenda, I was so glad to see that your DH fared well and will soon return to a regular room. I was also happy that you got some rest yourself.

@MISTER 67, that bandage is impressive and I am sure your thumb is very sore but hopefully things will improve shortly.

We love pumpkin soup here and I make it often. All the recipes look great.

As for the quote, poor Marilyn. I think her life was very sad. We have not been to the port but I am as usual enjoying all the pictures.

Take care everyone,especially those in Nicole’s path.

Well, that is true.  Open Enrollment will end eventually and at least they aren't spewing hate and lies about others.  They are a bit easier to tune out.  I do get annoyed at how dumb the Medicare ads think we are.

Well, that is truly too bad that you will have to start over.  Being flat on your back does take it out of you.  There is noticeable loss of lung capacity after a long time bedridden.  The only remedy is getting up and moving.  You'll get there eventually.  I guess this is also a lesson on developing patience.  I have none when it comes to being sick.

@HAL Sailer safe drive today.

@Crazy For Cats Nice flowers.  Special occasion or is Juan just being nice?

@bennybearI don't care about the order as long as I have cream and jam for my scones.  They are a special treat to me.  Just like cannoli is in Boston.

Special occasion.  Saturday is my birthday.  Lunch is booked for the PG and dinner in the Tamarind.

They will slow but not stop.  While the open enrollment period will end, people keep turning 65 personal enrollment periods every day so they'll keep on pushing.
