Guarantee Balcony assigned already

Hi All,

We have booked a cruise from Rome next year on Symphony of the Seas, in a Guarantee Balcony. Our cabin has already been assigned, is that unusual? It is on deck 11, aft, on starboard (right) side, v close to the back.  Would anyone have any comment on things for us to be aware of in this location?

Thanks!

If there are any available cabins in the exact same category (sounds like you got a 4D) you can call and change cabins.

OP is from Dublin, so that may not be an option for them.

I don't know, but we also have a gurantee interior on Enchantment in Nov 2023 and we have also gotten the cabin number already. I thought that guarantees werent assigned until close to the cruise.

Thanks - must be something they have changed. Seems strange, I was hoping to get a better one if assigned at the last minute!

Thanks for the replies! I have never been on this type of ship (or had a balcony) so would be grateful for any comments on location.

The "when" is truly a lottery. I have a gty cabin on a cruise next July and still waiting. Some people literally don't find out until days or even hours before.

As far as your location is concerned, one good thing is that you have cabins above and below, which means you are less likely to be bothered with noise. Another thing I can say is that the corridors are veeeeery loooooooong on these big ships, so there will be a lot of walking! Try not to forget stuff that you need when you leave the room as it takes ages to go back for anything!

Hi, (it's me from the Tour from Naples Question).  We have been on the Oasis, Harmony and Allure.  We love the balcony (we are on the Symphony with you, Deck 8, on the bump with a larger OV balcony).  However, we have had a Boardwalk Balcony and it was still nice.  No wind like on the ocean views, but even though we were just above the Carousel, you could still see the ocean out the back.  So, if you are higher up and over the Boardwalk, which you said you were, and further back, you will still be able to have a great view of the water similar to an aft view.  Looking forward to meeting you!

Well, we sometime get calls about downgrading even with assigned cabin. So rules are the same in this regard.

Hi - what does this mean - do they ask if you will move down a grade?

Thanks

Yes. For a good compensation.

Same way they sometimes ask if you are OK with moving your sailing to another date. Usually with a GREAT compensation.

Same for us!  We booked a guarantee Balcony for a cruise several months out and got an assigned cabin a few days later.  I'm hoping to move it as it's right above the casino, but so far no luck. I'll keep trying or hope for an upgrade. 🙂
