suite priority at ports

On recent suite cruises this year, our bags were always in disembarkation group 1, so yes, there was priority.

Thank you.  I was talking about when we get to a port. I was wondering if suite guests get priority at non-tendered port stops.

Unless it is a port where you have to show a visa or other entry document to a official as you exit the ship there isn’t a need for priority.  Getting off is normally fast no long lines snaking up stair and down the hallways.

If there is a long line and you need to exit quickly, you can go to the Retreat Lounge and the Retreat Concierge will escort you to the front of the line.

I have also experienced some ports that had a long line to get back ON the ship and there was a separate line for Suites, so we were able to skip the line and walk right on.  Very helpful at warm ports.

If you are speaking of Disembarkation at the end of the cruise - Yea.

The suite bags are the first off the ship and are setup by around 7:15.    You meet in the Retreat Lounge and when the bags are available the host is notified and they will escort yo to the exit off the ship in front of any lines that may have formed.

Once in terminal your bags are segregated for easy collection.

That is interesting.  I've never seen a separate line to get on the ship for Suit Guest other than on embarkation.  I'll have to keep an eye out for one next time we sail.

I can't remember, but it was either our AU/NZ cruise or the Panama Canal cruise.  I was thrilled because it was terribly hot!

The suite priority (to get back on the ship) at ports has been discontinued. It went away even before March 2020.

I've seen it a number of times in Asia as well as at tender ports.   Pre-Covid the Suites manager would be ashore and would escort suite guests to the front of the line.    I haven't seen this since Covid.

This looks like another one of those things that depends on the ship and port...

In August on Equinox, we were offered early off for two ports. We met in the Retreat Lounge and were escorted off "first in line" in San Juan. I believe we had the same opportunity in Tortola, but had an early excursion so it didn't make a difference.

It was not something offered at every port. And I didn't see a priority line to reboard, but there wasn't a line anyway.

In our experience it doesn’t happen often but more likely in tender ports.
For awhile they were putting out a red carpet with a separate line for suite guests to board after being in port.  Most that I spoke to didn’t use it.  We felt uncomfortable going around others in line to cut in front of others.  I haven’t seen the red carpet since the restart.

Why would you need priority at a non tendered port? Just walk off the ship like the rest of the passengers.

Not a "need", Just asking as we have a shortened port stay and tight connection to meet a guide and lately we've seen some long disembarkation lines at ports. This leads to lines for the shuttle when you are not able to walk out of the port.

The same question can be asked about a tendered port.

  • 10 months later...

As of today i,m sailing on Celebs Edge. No priority embark/disembark which i truly missed while in Mumbai, on 3000 fellow passengers going thru slow Inmigration, me meeting people for bsness. If you pay for it, Celeb should deliver. All is wrong in this ship, always delayed because of bad management, money refunded because of wrong info on tours already paid, services missing, such as fruits and tea mid afternoon, and shortages in wifi even if i paid premium.

People going into the pull tshirts on, so much for health policy, lol.

In all, chose another line.

Apparently not all are having the same experience as you (start on page #20)   It seems there was Priority embarkation and disembarkation, at least for Retreat guest.

You do realzie that immigration is beyond Celebrity's control?

I do not understand what you mean by shortages in WiFi?  are you talking about spotty coverage in various places on the ship or are you talking about the WiFi being slow because thousands of guest are all trying to use it at the same time?

Wearing t-shirts in the pool is a very common thing.  It helps people getting  overexposure to the sun, possiblty avoiding skin cancer.

Wow there are a few did hold Celebrity accounted for without knowing much about the Indian immigrants rule and the licensing of starlink WIFI  with Indian government.

Celebrity teams were working very hard and try to have a smooth immigration process but just because of a few bad APPLES we were delayed sailing out of the last Indian port for at least 5 hours.

I mean i paid premium wifi for the 12 days cruise and didnt get it on 2 india days, because of gvment limitations nobody told me before paying said package 2 months before cruising.

Whatever u say, going dressed inside a public pool is antisanitary for others who use to shower instead of wearing their sweated dirty shirts in to the water.

Celebrity should have denied embarkation to guests if they didnt have their visas ready. Celeb used to keep passports once u board just ti expedite inmig procedures. Why they didnt escapes my understanding. Celeb keeps on messing info, one guy telling different from other.

I was one of those who would feel like an entitled snob by walking on the red carpet.  I never used it no matter what.   I confess I use the priority boarding for tender boats, and even then I feel pretty awkward doing it.  At least that's a published perk which is my rationalization.

Our experience has mirrored Beachlover1989's.  On our September cruise (in a suite), we had a privately booked event so needed to get off the ship as soon as possible.  The Retreat Concierge offered to escort us off but there was no line so we were able exit quickly without help.

I personally burn within 15 minutes of sun exposure. Sunblock often washes off easily for me so I end up with burned spots. In America and many other countries, it’s normal to buy “UPF” shirts which are specifically sold for the purpose of wearing in pools, oceans, at the beach, etc. I don’t wear the shirt anywhere else, and I assure you it’s not sweaty.

frewuent usage of sunblock is also… not great for your health either. The chemicals do absorb into your skin, and while it’s better than sunburn, it’s better to avoid the whole situation and just use UPF shirts to reduce the amount of sunblock necessary.

Celebrity doesn’t do anything about it because there’s nothing wrong with it, even if it is uncommon in your country.

and re: WiFi not working in some countries.. I agree that they could do a better job communicating it, but you can also easily look it up yourself on starlink’s coverage map. If coverage is super important to you, in addition to starlink, you can buy a travel eSIM…

and beyond that, it’s a cruise ship… it’s honestly silly to expect communications to be 100% reliable.
