Good morning from near Puerto Chacabaco Chile.   We are beginning to enter fjord country. We had a nice shore excursion into lake county about a half hour out of town but first had a stop at the city market for provisions for our lunch. Chef Richard Knobloch led us through the market explaining what to choose and why.  With help from our group he prepared marinated smoked mussels, clam ceviche, mussel soup and a wonderful Hake preparation.  Plus unlimited wines from his vineyards.  Today is horse back riding in Rio Simpson for me.  Prayers for all on our Care list, Sarah, Jacqui, Kathi and Tana and for the people of Ukraine.  Have a wonderful day! Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  We are expecting another winter storm later today.  North of us will get the most while we should get about 2”.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds interesting, I’ll wait for @dfish to decide if I’d give it a try.  Maybe if I celebrated Irish coffee day my work day would be fun!  I hope everyone has a good day today.

Yuzu Toddy:

 

Ingredients
1 part Maker's Mark® Bourbon
2 heaping bar spoons Yuzu Honey
3/4 part Laird's® Applejack Brandy
1/2 part Yuzu Juice
5 parts Hot Water

Instructions
Combine all ingredients and serve hot.
*Yuzu honey: 1/4 cup yuzu rind**, 1/2 cup honey, 1/2 cup water, 10 tablespoons sugar, 1-1/2 teaspoons pectin, 2 tablespoons yuzu juice. Add water to yuzu rind and bring to a simmer. Mix the sugar and pectin together. Stir into the water and yuzu, pouring in a thin, steady stream while stirring. Bring to a boil. Add the honey and stir until the mixture is thick. Add the yuzu juice. Cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Keep refrigerated when not in use. **You may substitute a bottle of citrus tea from an Asian market for the honey if you cant source yuzu.

Interesting collection of days – I wonder if I’m celebrating opposite Day by using my opposite arm to try to eat, etc.?

 

I never noticed it before in cartoons but now that I think about it, I think that quote is correct.

 

I’m back to dictating again – don’t dare type until I’m seen at the hospital today.  Yes I have to go back to the Bone Clinic for an unscheduled, emergency appointment.  There’s something wrong with my cast/elbow. Hopefully recasting is all that’s required 🤞 And hopefully I will be able to type when I return home.

 

 

Everything is cleaned up from the storm which finally ended yesterday morning – just in time for the one coming in tonight. 😞

Good morning friends!  Well, it's a rainy dark morning, 51F and expected to rain for several more hours.  High today will be 65.  Looking at my weather app I see my family members in Missouri, Ohio and Michigan are having snow so I'm not gonna complain!!

 

Thanks Roy @rafinmdfor posting the Daily today for Rich @richwmnwho is hopefully enjoying his World Cruise tremendously.  Opposite Day is an interesting concept.  We could do a lot with that.  Library shelfie day brings to mind times spent in the school libraries volunteering my help.  My kids didn't admit to it but I think they enjoyed having me at their schools most weeks.  I don't drink any coffees but I hope everyone else can enjoy their Irish coffee this special day.  The quote is quite funny.  Will wait to see the stew, and no to the drink and wine.  

 

Prayers said this morning for our Care list, especially Sarah, Tana, Jacqui and Kathi.  Extra prayers for Carolyn @Cruising-along's Patricia's family.  May she RIP.  Also want to remember the Ukrainians who are fighting for their lives and country.  Also, the shooting victims in the news this week.  What is wrong with people??

 

Congrats to all on the Celebration list. Enjoy your cruises travelers.  Mine is coming up in a little over 2 weeks.  Trying to figure out how to pack for 7 days since that doesn't happen often.  We are not light packers!

 

Today's port of Kotor, Montenegro is always a joy on a cruise.  I could go there every year if given the chance.  I hope you do get to see Kotor @Mr. Boston-- you will enjoy it immensely.  Also hope you like cats!  Kotor was our port of the day on May 17, 2022 and November 23, 2022 so here are the links to Rich's Dailies so we can all go back and get our photos.  Here you go!

Kotor is another wonderful walled city that everyone should have a chance to see.  We first went there in August, 2017 on the Westerdam.  The second time was on the Pacific Princess in late November, 2018 so quite a difference in weather.  It was rainy and cool that time.  The third time was in June 2019 on a segment of our 50th anniversary Family Cruise.  The family hadn't joined us yet but we can't just go to Europe for a week or 10 days!  We had to add on to it.  The weather was pretty that time, too.

 

We got the coveted docking spot right across from the old City walls on Aug. 2017 on the Westerdam.

 

You can see the old City of Kotor across from the ship in this shot, along with the activity going on below us.

 

We got off and headed over to an entrance to the city.

 

The first thing we ran into was this "couple" in front of a cute souvenir shop.

 

 

 

 

Kotor's Old Town is full of centuries old palaces.  This one is Bizanti Palace

And this one is Pima Palace

 

Here you see St. Tryphon Cathedral

 

There are many narrow winding paths to follow here.  

 

The town is full of cats.  In the past I've posted photos of the stairs with about 7 cats lounging on them.  Here they are, photo taken in Nov. 2018.

 

And here is the Cats of Kotor shop with a cat you have to step over to gain entrance.

 

Looking upward on the hillside over the city, there is a path you can pay admission to take and see everything from way up there.  We didn't go up there, but our tablemates did, and they sent me a photo taken from way up high.

Rich & Roy thank you for bringing us today’s Report & Daily! A balmy 64 this morning when Bindi and I headed out. And the sky was so clear.  Even the birds were singing happily!

 

Roy thank you for tracking our goings on. Today I start calling companies to schedule estimates for my next project - cleaning and resealing my pool deck pavers. The company who did the original sealing did a horrible job, so this time I am going to be super picky. Then this afternoon is my weekly HIIT class. And of course Bindi will get her regularly scheduled walks in.

Consumer and critic reviews both say this one might be worth the hassle. But the excellent - superb ratings come with a hefty price tag. Prices - before shipping - start at  $87.59. I would love a taste.

A complex bouquet and palate with scents and flavours of black currant and dark cherry, wild flowers and red berry fruits then a stone and mineral silty soils quality . Youthful, varietal and complex. Even on day 2 the wine has a youthful taut appeal, flavours reflect the bouquet with a youthful energy and mix of ripe and tart fruits including cherry, cranberry, plum and black currant. An abundance of fine tannins and medium+ acidity, a wine that will continue to develop over the next 3-5 years. This wine presents best on day 2 which is a strong indication that it will age well. Good morning all,

Thanks for the daily report. We had a snowy overnight. We are way behind in snow but have had several rain showers this winter. This is the first snow of any significant since moving into my maintenance provided home. We will see if they do what is promised. 
 

We are set to fly to FLL on Sunday for our Disney cruise with the grandkids. As of this morning there is a vomit festival going on at their house. Fingers crossed it is a short lived illness and the parents don’t get it or get over it before Sunday.  Glad we have travel insurance. 
 

Jacqui I am glad you are going back. This far out from your surgery you should not have this much pain. Hopefully they can do some other type of immobilization.

Hopefully your emergency bone clinic appointment today pin point's the problem and they can finally rectify your elbow problem.

I hope the family improve rapidly so you all can go on that Disney cruise!  We had great times on their ship (Dream) when we went with family.  Very unique experience.

Good morning, everyone.

 

Fortunately, most of the bad weather is occurring to the south and east of us.  We're supposed to get a couple of inches, but not much more.  Some are getting a lot of snow followed by freezing rain.  

 

I am going to make it to buy my paint today.  This painting project is going very slowly.  I need help moving the furniture away from the walls.  The good part is I only have the bed and one end table to move out.  There wasn't room for my dresser as two walls are taken up with closets.  

 

Irish coffee is my go to drink on cold weather itineraries.  I'm sure I'll get my fill of them in Greenland and Iceland this summer.  On warm weather cruises I have a Bloody Mary.  A spicy one!  Sometimes it is a Virgin Mary.  I don't care about the alcohol in it, but I want the veggies and spice.  

 

I have had African Chicken Peanut Soup and it is wonderful.  The soup just has more chicken broth in it than the stew does.  This is a great meal for a cold winter day like today!    https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/african_chicken_peanut_stew/
