PrincessBuffy Posted February 25, 2023 #51 Share Posted February 25, 2023 Did anyone else catch the small note on the first page... When did they move the "Chef's Parade" to the Piazza?? or is that different from the old Baked Alaska walk through??
Rare BamaVol Posted February 25, 2023 #52 Share Posted February 25, 2023 (edited) I’m disappointed. I expect next week will be my first and last cruise with Princess. I would like to see seafood other than salmon. I might as well stick to the buffet. Which I’m sure will be equally disappointing. Cruising ain’t what it used to be. I should have sailed three months ago, before all these changes for the worse Edited February 25, 2023 by BamaVol
PrincessBuffy Posted February 25, 2023 #53 Share Posted February 25, 2023 This is just one day's menu correct?? Princess still has their menus on a multi-day rotation - I hope?? Can anyone with onboard knowledge clarify, please.
Hulagirl Posted February 25, 2023 #54 Share Posted February 25, 2023 Chef's Dinner menu is always different. Wonder what the regular night menu's look like.

I like Wellington, however it is a very odd way to prepare a roast. Just think of the person that woke up one day and said, "hey let's take a perfectly good tenderloin roast, wrap it in minced, desiccated mushrooms and mustard (and sometimes thinly sliced ham). Wrap it tightly in filo dough and bake it. Doesn't that sound good?" 1

We have seen so many Princess cuts that it is like dying from a thousand paper cuts now and just not worth it. But there are those who will be happy still when all Princess serves in the MDR's is Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches and water. Or you might hear of MRE's in the MDR for formal night. 2

I don’t spend any time reading any other cruise line boards on CC but out of curiosity, are there any lines where the loyalists are routinely posting: “I’m so happy that there haven’t been any cutbacks since the restart”? It might be that you will have to pay luxury cruise line prices to get what the mass market cruise lines used to provide. For some that will be a good trade. For others, paying mass market prices still works even if the Fettuccine Alfredo has now transmogrified into Lasagna. This is what Princess has been doing to fill up their ships since the restart. I’ve never received an offer like that. I wish!

Rare donswife Posted February 25, 2023 #63 Share Posted February 25, 2023 I did a short cruise on Royal Caribbean last month. Anytime dining wasn't actually available until 6:45. The menu was 1 page, including desserts. There were the same "classic " options available each day, plus daily special items. When we ordered multiple starters they were all served at once. It was nice to eat some different items though.
Mike45LC Posted February 25, 2023 #64 Share Posted February 25, 2023 I will probably never try Mom’s Lasagna because I do not touch unidentified meat. I don’t risk pork, which the Italians frequently use in cooking. The Alfredo has no meat.

I’m sure the salad could be modified to exclude the shrimp, but other than that… Vegetarians do eat dairy, and they use vegetarian gelatine in the veggie dishes. So there is the terrine and the coconut soup to start, and the veggie pie or the souffle for mains. And i agree, its awesome to see two possibilities instead of just one. Yay!

The goat cheese soufflé is one of my favorites, but the main is the same size as the appetizer was. I just ordered 2. They thing about having to ask is, if it’s your first or second cruise, you wouldn’t know what’s missing, so how would you know what to ask for?

You can do a 7-day coastal for $50 per person or a 15-day to Hawaii for $100 per person. It is less than $7 per day, which is even cheaper than the lunch combo that I just picked up from McDonald's. What do you expect? Now I feel ripped off, as I’m doing two of those at nowhere near those prices. Who gets that kind of discount, or are those casino offers?
waltd Posted February 25, 2023 #69 Share Posted February 25, 2023 We cruised Dec. 2nd to Jan 6th and had no issues with the menus. Some changes but plenty of options. Always a fish dish besides the salmon.

Most nights the menus are like what you are used to. However, even the "regular" menus have a reduced number of items in each category when compared to pre-pandemic. There are a number of "live from" threads after the restart that have the menus for each evening pictured.

Many other options on other nights including at least one seafood choice in addition to the salmon that is available every day Also, shrimp cocktail, traditional Caesar salad, and French onion soup have been on the menu almost every night and can be requested if they are not. 2

Good to know thanks. Last cruise meals were boring, food was just ok in Oct. they could get me Caesar without the kale which I like but the fettuccine came without the parmesan bowl, that wasn't available. As always never wnt hungry.
