They are moving edge from Europe to down under for the 23/24 season🤩

So when they announced this, I said, let’s go🤣🤩🙌🏻 and I booked the first day it was open for booking. If you do all 4-b2b it’s a 52-night sailing. Non repetitive ports.

We'll be on the Feb 25th Great Barrier Reef sailing!!  So excited.

Enjoyed reading your review.  So glad you can find away to have fun even in the rain.
We were one of the ones who canceled the 52 day cruise and opened up some prime sunset verandas!  You will have an exciting time. So glad it’s so popular and booked up.     We changed it to a Polynesian from Honolulu to Sydney  and added on an additional Australian segment.
🍻 cheers.

That sounds like a brilliant choice️

We have traveled around NZ by car all over, we have been to New Caledonian and Vanuatu in the pacific area.

Mr have traveled a bit more in AUS, he visited his sister when she lived in Australia. So they went to Great Barrier Reef and Cairns.

I have just visited Sydney & Blue Mountains/Jenolan caves and wineries in Hunter Valley.
But I know we will go back for more🥰❤️️ (originally we were booked on a 14n cruise from Auckland to Fiji, Pago Pago etc 1.April 2020😝

It’s the furthest away we can travel….

@Norwaylady I have enjoyed your review so much!

We  have been to Norway Fjords on Silhouette. We loved Norway. It is so beautiful. We are coming back in 2024 October cruising on Cunard Queen Anne  to Norway and the Arctic Circle. ( And hopefully Northern Lights.) We would love some insight on things to do on our stops. Alesund, Tromso (overnight) , Narvik *overnight* and Stavanger. Sorry to be off topic....but I can't think of a better person to ask! We are in our 60's and enjoy being outside.

Return to Oslo, 🇳🇴

The last day in the sun was not as the usual procedure…. It’s been rain and windy since we left Sil

But that doesn’t stop us from a walking tour😅🙌🏻

We have never had this type of weather in Miami, FL.

So yesterday was spent on a long walk and a relaxing day in our apartment🥰

Dinner was an excellent 2-course meal prepared by chef Norwaylady.

Chop chop salad with chicken and Napoleon cake for dessert.

Breakfast service today was bagels and smoked Alaska salmon, again prepared and served by chef Norwaylady🍴 (don’t say Mr is suffering yet from post-cruise hunger😝)  He will feel the pain on Friday….

I’m just home for 12h before I have a big conference for work this weekend🤓 Then he will feel the cruise-blues🥺

Back to return✈️

Yesterday I was checking in on our flight. I had noticed during our cruise that our seats were changed and for the better…..

I didn’t want to celebrate before we could actually check in…. But it was very nice to confirm that SAS had complimentary upgraded us to Biz🥳🥳🥳

So we are seated on 7+8 h, window for both🥰

Very happy for this❤️

Our flight from MIA-CPH is operated on a A330-300. Departure time: 16.00

3-classes. Biz 1-2-1, Plus 2-3-2, Economy 2-4-2. Flight is fully booked.

We took Lyft to the airport 11.00. We arrived 11.25.

Check in didn’t open until 12.00.

But I printed the tags and did everything ready.

Bags was dropped off on the second 12.00.

Then the nasty part of travel started…. It was not a long line for security. But 1 person for TSA, all other. So for that little line it took 55.mins. Typ 20 pax.

I just can’t understand why the “big” demanding boss USA can’t have this functional. (I don’t want to offend anyone, but it’s just 🥵😳 why can’t this work better? Even on crazy days in OSL, it’s never more then 15-20.min for security)

Rant finished🤪

SAS don’t have a Lounge in MIA. But my Star*G gives me access to the Turkish airlines lounge. It’s the closest lounge for our departure.

It’s not the greatest lounge I visited.

But they have hot meals, a well stocked bar, sodas and snacks.

So a good alternative to roam the terminal. MIA airport isn’t exactly an 💎 gem of airports…

The meals is Turkish food. Falafel, salad, hummus etc.

Boarding started 15.30.

It was zone boarding.

Boarding took long time today.

Full flight and lots of families and small children.

So we didn’t push before 16.15.

It’s 32-seats in Biz and of those are 8 kid’s under 10🤪🤪🤪 Holy smoke, feeling for the crew❤️

Service during boarding was choice of champagne, water or lingonberry juice.

Crew greeted everyone welcome and happy to see you again.

Crew was asking for preference of breakfast service. Wake you up or leave you sleeping long as possible.

Captain announced that flight time is expected to be 8h 45.min.

After takeoff service had just started, warm towels and todays menu delivered….

Then the captain announced: everyone needs to go back to your seat. It will be a bit bumpy for the next 10-25.minutes…..

As soon as the seatbelt sign went off, service was back on track.

Pre dinner cocktail and warm nuts or chips.

As the perfect X guest I am, I was watching Jersey Boys….. (you see why I loved Almost Elton & CeCe Teneal🙃😅)

I love the 60’🎶🎶🎶 ( so a important message to Lisa (I know they play musical chairs for the moment) don’t mess with the entertainment or preference of 60-90)

For starters we had fish and duck.

Both tasted excellent.

For main we had linguine and sea bass.

Both tasted good.

Cheese was a Blu Cheese, manchego and port wine.

For dessert I had American style cheesecake.

All tasted excellent and crew attentive and refilled glasses if wanted.

Then it was time for a little nap 😴

During the night it was bumpy… captain had to put the seatbelt sign on. And it was like a bumpy railroad for 3hours+.

We slept a decent 4-5h before it was breakfast service.

Classic Scandinavian breakfast. Choices of breads (sourdough, croissants, dark bun, white bun, multigrain bread) yoghurt, muesli, cheese, ham, greens and fruit.

Coffee/tea, juices, mimosas and water.

Big applause to the crew on this flight. They were kindergarten/nanny service the entire flight❤️

Landing on time in Copenhagen 07.25.

Light drizzle and 7c.

Walked straight thru immigration to Schengen, no lines.

Was seated in the SAS Lounge 07.40.

So plenty of time to freshen up before our next flight to Oslo 09.10.

They have full Scandinavian breakfast and barista service in the morning.

Nothing beats a freshly brewed americano and a fresh danish in Denmark 🇩🇰😋

Boarding to Oslo started on time. A full flight of transit passengers from MIA/BKK/LAX/ORD….

And all Norwegian SK crew going home after their flights from US.

Flight is operated on a a320. Plus and Go cabin 3+3.

Our middle seat was empty, so good space.

We pushed on time, expected flight time to Oslo is maximum 50.min.

This flight is a café service.

Hot/cold beverage and snacks of your choice from the menu in Plus. Today’s culinary delivery was sweet potato pirogue.

Go, coffee/tea complimentary, snacks for purchase.

On our decent to OSL…. My eyes were not super happy🥺 Welcome Home🙈

38DAA5CA-46FF-407F-85A7-B846E2079B2A.thumb.jpeg.dc83f721a21b28a921b037070c976c34.jpeg

Flight went fast an we parked at gate 15.mins before scheduled time.

2bags on the belt 2.mins after arrival at the belt and tax free goods picked up🙃 (in Norway it’s tax free on arrival, alcohol very reasonable compared to Vinmonopolet)

We stopped by SAS arrival service to register our suitcase that was broken on arrival MIA.

No problem, pir documents issued and I will receive a mail for suitcases I can pick from during tomorrow. ( unfortunately I have had this situation several times during my years of travel… but it works perfectly) I will have choices of American Tourister by Samsonite, samsonite or EPIC.

They give me a price limit according to what they broke and if I want a more expensive item, I just pay the extra.

I walked in the door home at 11.30 after taking the train from the airport❤️ Mr had to run straight to the office…. Something urgent had to be fixed🤓

@Norwaylady many thanks for your fabulous blog of your cruise.

I have been lucky to cruise to Norway a couple of times and love your beautiful country.  I'm cruising later this year and the two Norway stops are Alesund and Skjolden so I'd be grateful if you could advise on any must see / do at either of these places.

Thanks,

Sarah

Thank you for sharing your adventure. Wishing you happy future travels. Hoping you will share your mother-daughter cruise. My travels with my adult children are my best memories. In fact our last cruise was Norwegian Fjords. Absolutely amazing!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just finished your review, it was great!  I loved your perspective of things as a Norwegian, my  grandmother grew up in Bergen.  I fondly remember that cucumber salad:)   We are cruising to Norway in July on the Anthem of the seas.  I can't wait!
