Adding Back Home Ports

Hello.  I am wishing / hoping that Carnival will once again cruise out of San Juan.  Since my 2020 trip went down the drain.  😞

I also like sailing from Ft. Lauderdale, I find it easy.

Anyone feeling the same?

San Juan had one of the best itineraries around.   And I also would love to see Fort Lauderdale put back as an embark port - but from what I've heard it will never happen.

What happened with Fort Lauderdale?  Is it like the Charleston thing? TIA!

I think it's more that it doesn't make sense with Miami literally just down the road. Holland America and Princess seem to be allocated to Carnival Corp's berths in Fort Lauderdale.

Supposedly during the restart Carnival was concentrating on Miami and Port Canaveral, with Port Everglades to be "reconsidered" in the future.  Well, the future is here, and no plans to return are in the works.  Our condo - which we infrequently use- is 3 miles from the port - a 10 minute car ride.  Would so love PE to be opened up again for CCL- not just for Princess or HAL cruises.

I vote Carnival goes back to San Juan.  I don’t do western.  I’m getting bored with going to The Bahamas.

Plus, we’ve been sitting on free airfare and hotel miles for forever.

If Carnival doesn’t sail from SJ soon, I’m using those frequent miles and go on SeaDream I or II, which has been on my bucket list.

I don't care about Port Everglades, but I really miss Carnival sailing out of San Juan. ☹️

That is a great itinerary.  I am actually booked on a similar itinerary on Carnival Venezia in November 2024 out of New York.

St. Thomas > Dominica > Barbados > Antigua > St. Maarten

Great itinerary but the problem is obviously it takes 3 days to get down there from NY, vs. from San Juan you're already there.

Not a problem for those of us who love those sea days.   🙂

We had this one too, but replace the sea day with Antigua. Loved every minute of this trip.

Not for me.    San Juan is a longer and more expensive flight.

True, it’s a longer flight. But for a lot of people, specially on the east side of the country, the difference isn’t a deal breaker. For me, it’s either a 2 hour flight to Florida, or a 3 hour flight to Puerto Rico. I cruise to explore new destinations, so I’ll gladly spend an extra hour in flight for a much better itinerary and to see new places.

San Juan, over the last decade, has become a magnet for low cost carriers, making it more affordable than ever to fly there. Frontier, Spirit, JetBlue and Southwest all have a significant presence there, in addition to all the legacy airlines.

Oh I like them too, I have 4 on my upcoming cruise. But 2 in a row is my limit, at least right now. Maybe I'll change my mind as time goes on but I get ready for solid ground after 2 days.
