We usually find it faster to get a glass of wine to take with us to the dining room. If you are going to want a second glass it may be wise to order it when you first get to the dining room as it can sometimes take a fair amount of time for the wine to actually show up at your table. We tend to just visit Vines before dinner and get our wine there. They normally make you take a "to go" glass as they don't like their expensive glassware to wander.

I do the same, often a double pour.  And not just for the convenience/speed but because Vines has a bigger selection of wines by the glass.

Unfortunately there’s no Vines on the Discovery. 😥

Well then any bar on your way to the MDR.  Depending on how busy the waiters are (and how much they prioritize food over drink orders), it can take a while to get the wine you order at the table.

Try the Crown Grill bar or Good Spirits at Sea. Both have been recommended as a "replacement" for the missing Vines. Not having Vines really peeves me. We are booked on Discovery for the Total Eclipse cruise and our son is booked with us (with his wife and daughter). It's their first cruise ever and they are "wine folks". No Vines is no bueno.

I’m not happy about not having Vines either.

I would just point out that even in the US it is considered bad etiquette to take a drink into dinner with you unless you are being escorted by a waiter who would carry them for you.

If that is the biggest faux pas I ever make, I will be very happy.

In Australia it's mandatory to carry an alcoholic beverage wherever you go. 🤔

I understand that it's not the 'done thing' but from my last experience of Sabatini's (ordering a glass of wine before the food order was taken and actually getting it after the main course was served) I'll run the risk of offending people by taking a drink in with me.

When we bring a drink from our room we always carry it to the table with no problem. Just tell then you prefer to do it yourself.

In the US it's also considered bad service to take a drink order when the customer orders and not to serve it until after the first course.  So until Princess can get its MDR service to at least the adequate level under the mess that is DMW, you'll have to excuse my bad etiquette.

As long as you are ordering one of the generic wines offered in the Plus package, our experience was that the drink service was quite speedy. The wines are kept at various serving stations in the MDRs, so no need for the drinks to be delivered from the adjoining bar.

There is an exception if it is a 16 oz can or a long neck.

So, now that there no longer is a coffee card do the international cafe specialty coffees count toward your number of drinks per day in the plus package?

The only limit is for alcoholic drinks  - 15.

All other drinks in the package are unlimited.

With Princess Plus can you order a drink or glass of wine in the main dining room or at a specialty restaurant to count toward your daily limit of 15?

Yes. A drink or “glass” of wine is included in your Princess Plus package.

This is true.  However, we like our wine served with our appetizer and then another(or two) with our main.  We never get our wine that fast if we order our first glass in the MDR.  So, we stop at Vines, or bar,  to get our first glass and take it with us.

As do we. Extremely sensible.

Maybe 2 or 3 nights out of nine, the individual seating us in the MDR asked to carry our wine for us to the table.  First night, we ordered after we were seated.  The drinks were unforgivably late.  We carried them from the Wheelhouse bar after that.  It was no big deal because we had already been sitting there for an hour and our bartender knew to pour us one for the road right before 6.  I assumed they in the MDR were worried that we would drop our glasses, being amateur drink transporters as opposed to the professionals employed by the ship.
