Hi all,

Our travel agent has sent us a list for the Adventure of the Seas, May 2024, to the Eastern Caribbean. This will be our daughters' (18 and 20 years old) first cruise. Do you think interior cabins on Deck 9 would be okay? Thanks.

It would be two cabins.

I'm answering in terms of actually liking that type of cabin. If you just meant are they logistically fine for 2 people... absolutely.

Some people like interiors, others refuse to sail in them. Common reasons for disliking them include feeling claustrophobic, enjoying time on a balcony too much, and/or wanting to see natural light from a window.

My wife and I like them. The cabin to us is just a place to sleep, shower, and change clothes. My wife thought she "needed" a balcony b/c she had one when she cruised a kid but once she tried an interior, she ended up liking them and realizing we barely used our balcony so we'd rather save the money for other things... like dining, excursions, and more cruises. We also like how dark and cold they get when sleeping, especially when she want to take a quick afternoon nap.

I'd suggest watching a YouTube video of an interior (and if other cabin types are an option, videos of those).

I'm fine with interiors unless the price for a balcony is too good to pass up.  Like OCSC Mike, I'd rather spend the money on something else.

The view from the deck upstairs is as good as the view from a balcony.  We're trying a virtual balcony next month which may get us the best of both worlds...

Hi I booked a 8 day eastern inside deck 9 for dec 2024 on adventure. Lol it better be ok. All I can say is very forward you might feel more motion. Prices are high imo so I booked a inside to save money. I prefer a balcony and would love a suite .. not my preferred cabin, but adventure prices are very high imo and I'm just getting around to booking. I love the easten and southern ports ..booked both on adventure. I can sit up by the pool. I'm paying as much for my inside as a aft corner or a balcony a year ago. .so yes I'm saving a few $$$.

I like a higher deck closer to food and the pool and solarium.

That's like my standard answer for "what deck should I book?" One that you consider in a good spot compared to where you spend the most time.

Deck 9 will be good.  You'll be just 2 deck below the Lido deck and the that will give quick and easy access to a lot where you and your girls will spend a lot of time.

As for an interior, they are n't my first choice buy I have cruised in one a couple of times. I'd gladly take an interior rather than not cruise at all.  If that is what you can afford I'd take it in a heartbeat.

We booked a cabin with the virtual balcony on our recent cruise, only because it happened to be cheaper than the regular inside cabin.  I actually asked the TA if the feature could be disabled once on board, but we ended up loving it!

Also, check the price of promenade cabins vs inside cabins.

Promenade cabins have a large window that looks down the promenade. Decks 6, 7, and 8

* Just be careful to close your curtains when naked.:classic_biggrin:

We just got off Voyager with an interior.  We booked last minute so that was all that was left.  We always book a balcony or a junior suite.  The interior was fine for the two of us.  If I had to give a negative it was getting out of the bed to go to the bathroom.  We had to crawl to the end of the bed.  We really thought that would be a big issue but even that turned out not to be.  Would I book another interior?  I sure would.

We've done deck 8 or 9 interiors multiple times on that class of ship.  We have zero problems with those rooms.  Sleep great with the nice dark cabins (day or night if you like).  Having two full bathrooms is very nice for getting ready in the morning or showering before dinner etc...

We typically get connecting cabins, but they sell out more quickly.  Adjacent cabins would also be fine.

We use the room to sleep and nap, not much more.  We love being out on the ship in all the awesome venues or taking in views of the ocean

When our kids were teenagers, we always booked them in an interior room near our (balcony) room. They never complained and i was paying for it!!! Usually it was 2 big teenage boys (once it was 3 or them) so it worked fine for us, and they didn't know any better. A lot of people like interior cabins, i just have always cruised with a balcony and don't imagine i would like an interior room.

For an upcoming family cruise, we've splurged to get 3 balcony rooms. Our sons are now adults, and married. This will be the first cruise for our dil's....and we decided to treat them!

All personal choice, but for me I'd go balcony with the big gals across the hall.  My husband enjoys a mid-day nap in the cabin.  I am NOT a napper-so I enjoy the quiet time out on the balcony.  I don't mind sitting alone on the pool deck, but for me on sea days it gets to be a lot.  Rather be able to come in and out of the heat on the balcony then back and forth at the pool.  I'd feel pent up if we were hanging in an inside cabin...

You enjoy your balcony so by all means get one. We used to until we realized we hardly used it.

That said, there are plenty of places to hang out besides just the pool deck or balcony. My wife is the napper (only an hour or so). Sometimes I just relax on our interior couch because it doesn't bother me, but other times I go for a walk, get a snack, sit in the Solarium, sit somewhere else outside besides the pool deck, etc. Chances are it's go for a snack tbh b/c I like to eat, lol, but you get the idea.

I’m on Liberty now in a JS on deck 9. It’s a great location. Makes using the stairs and avoiding the elevators very easy. 2 flights up to the gym, solarium, pool deck and Windjammer. Then 4-5 flights down to the promenade, theater, casino and the dining room.

Deck 9 (and deck 8 less so), has to be the most frequently booked deck for our family across all the ships we've sailed.  Having at least a couple of floors of cabins above and below you help keep things quiet.  We also tend to be in the forward section.  That generally limits our closeness to food but that only matters really for us in the morning for coffee, but that's a quick elevator or stairs down or up to the cafe promenade or solarium bistro (depending on ship) to resolve.  🙂
