See you there. Last week we were #3 but they didn't have the luncheon. We did get $50 worth of chocolates.

It was great meeting you guys and having you as table mates! 🙂

I will definitely keep this in mind. Being able to get the bottle to take to dinner with us would be great. It would definitely beat having to buy the bottle with the 25% discount from the package. Hopefully we will get a wine steward who will do this for us on our upcoming 32 days on Grand Princess.

Actually we prefer to take the bottle discount as it doesn’t cut into our 15 drink maximum. I would hate to run out late night in the casino

What do they charge for

lei making?  I don’t remember paying for it.

Lei making activities sponsored by the Cruise Director Staff are free.  Generally, tickets are given out for selected times (Sabatini's).  There will be ribbon leis on the way over and fresh orchid leis on the way back (sort of...actually there is only enough flowers to make half a lei).

Leialoha (on the Emerald now and Ruby later) will have a small charge for supplies for her other leis (Kukui nut, yarn, crochet, etc).

My wife usually runs maybe 5 drinks a day. She could easily "absorb" another 5 for a bottle of wine and still have wiggle room left. When I use the casino I might just as well simply write them a check and leave. I never win. If I decide to blow off some OBC I can easily lose $200 rather than win. Casinos need people like me to make up for those who win. I am a loss as a gambler for me but a win for the casino folks.

Okay thanks.  I saw “fees apply” on the patter, so that surprised me.  I’ve never had any fees in the past.

Oh how sad!  So sorry you weren’t able to board.  Hopefully you can sail another time.

A warm welcome to cruise critic

Covid or Noro.  Either one is no bueno.  We have seen this many times since the start-up.

Oh no...this is the first time we have seen it and cruised in 2021 with way reduced capacity I think then they had a select floor they moved folks to and then in 2022...just about at full capacity it seemed and did not see this.  But will for sure keep an eye out on our cruise this September.  Learned something new today.

They now quarantine you in your assigned cabin.  The biggest recent threat onboard has been the Noro virus.

We are constantly using our hand sanitizer.  We use one that has no alcohol, uses organic oils and is very easy on the skin.

First time I saw this a few months ago it had room service trays on it. I remember thinking,  oh they can't bend over. Well, now I know.

Uh-oh is right!!!

Curious if that's it for the rest of the cruise for them or if it will end.

According to medical professionals, sanitizers have no effect on viruses. They only work on bacteria. Hand washing is the only way to get viruses off of your hands.

With that said, I do the same thing because then it feels like I've done something😷

I’ve heard that before but it just isn’t entirely true.  You are right about certain viruses being immune to hand sanitizers but not all.  Norovirus, being a non-enveloped virus, is particularly tough to get rid of by using run of the mill hand sanitizers.  Hand sanitizer is better than nothing but it is still better to wash your hands fastidiously and keep them away from your face.

Today in Hilo, our group went in three different directions.  Our kids hired an Uber and visited the Kuamana Caves and Richardson Black Sand beach.

Debbie took the free shuttle to the Walmart shopping center.  She was itching to get her shopping fix!  At home, she rarely goes 2 or 3 days without a shopping safari.  As our granddaughter says, "Nana is the best shopper in the world!"  Especially as she is the biggest recipient of the shopping hunts.

I did my usual two mile walk to downtown. The day started off cloudy and humid.  By the time I walked back to the ship it was really sunny.

The Hoppa-on/Hoppa-off terminal is right outside the cruise terminal gates.

After resting under a huge banyan tree until I stopped profusely sweating.  I walked thru the Farmers Market and all over town.
