On Board Credit and Casino

I have a cruise coming up in 2.5 weeks. My wife and I both have $50 on board credit each. I assume  this shows up on the medallion and I am wondering if this on board credit could be used in the casino? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

It won’t show as free play on your medallion but if you spend $50 on slots if will be negated by the credit. What you can’t do is go to the cashier and ask for cash

OK...I'm confused. What does P&O have to do with anything?

Maybe post 3 is thinking about P&O with the response. My experience is that on Princess OBC is posted as a credit to your on board accounts. Casino expense can be charged to your on board accounts and will net against any credit or debit balance. So yes, in response to the OP's question if you have a credit balance then a casino gambling expense will net against it.

P&O does thing differently than Princess on occasion. Possibly they might not allow anyone to use OBC in the casino.

I understand that...but how did P&O even get inserted into this thread to start with?  The OP said nothing about P&O.  All I see regarding P&O is post #3 where P&O is mentioned in that posters signature...

I only asked that because I've never hear that OBC couldn't be used in the casino.

I always hear talk of them evolving the OBC system to differentiate Casino charges and not let them net against OBC but as far as I've seen they've not yet figured out how to do this so yeah, the way the accounting works with your OBC the Casino is the same as buying a t-shirt in the gift shop.

As for using the Casino as an ATM I'm really not sure why anyone cares. I guess it's slightly bad form if you just walk in, load up $200 to your account and immediately cash out? I guess? I'm over this as soon as I notice it.

I did this exact thing last year. Other cruise lines I’ve sailed won’t let you or charge a fee.

YIKES!!!

The answer to your query contained in your second paragraph can be found in your first paragraph.
I’m certain they have “figured out how to do this” but have yet to implement the change. Pax using the casino as an ATM are sure to hasten implementation of this change.

IMO, this topic should be banned like discussing TA's by name.  Have to belong to the secret handshake club and get the info on board - just like finding a new TA.

reminds me of the J G Wentworth commercial

Terrific idea.
How would this be proposed to the mods?

It was really tongue in cheek because I really doubt they would be inclined to do that.  Maybe we could figure out a way to deem it political or Covid-related.  Then the posts would be quashed in a minute.

I book cruises through the casino along with that is a $200 non refundable deposit that I can spend in the casino if I wish.  Same with the share holder benefit.

When you use the charge to room option on the slot machine it pulls from OBC, I do this every cruise.
