firefly333 Posted September 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2023 For sustainably. I'm not sure how they refill them. Anyone one these 3 ships? Butterbean1000 Posted September 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2023 I definitely think this has possibilities. There is so much waste everywhere.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted September 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Interesting. The current single use bottles the rum comes in should be glass and recycled. Would like to see the container that holds the rum used to refill the new bottles. If it helps, I'm in; progress is good.
Old Fart Cruisers Posted September 2, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2023 So now they have the large containers to refill the refillable glass bottles, the completely unnecessary PLASTIC ecoSPIRITS dispensers, the extra water, and detergents and energy to heat and sterilize the refillable bottles. . . and all of this will reduce waste. 🤔 4

I was reading ncl is discontinuing single use water bottles and using paper bottles. I dont think I'd like a paper bottle but have not seen them. I always thought it kinda dumb to worry about straws and ignore plastic water and soda bottles.
Rare 1025cruise Posted September 4, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2023 NCL serves water in a glorified milk carton over plastic.

Kinda feel bad for the bartendars that will have yet another thing to clean at the end of their shift. But really, I see this as a loss prevention scheme. Not that booze is stolen, but we've all seen the bars get busy and a bartendar will be perhaps overly generous with a pour. This would seem to tighten up their "dispensing" so to speak.

Old Fart Cruisers Posted September 5, 2023 #11 Share Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) So, if this is proven to be efficient and effective at reducing waste, will there eventually be one of these ecoSPIRITS dispensers for every single bottle at every bar? . . . Or. . . is it really just a marketing gimmick for Bacardi Rum? Edited September 5, 2023 by Old Fart Cruisers

As stated, the rum bottles can be recycled. And they will still have to have some container that they buy the rum in. I don't buy the reduced waste excuse. 3

This - I've seen multiple pour monitoring services out there (BarVision for one) to eliminate heavy pours. I'm surpised Carnival (or any other cruise line) in an attempt to increase profits even more on beverages - hasn't implemented something like this or gone to measured pourers. Bob NC Posted September 6, 2023 #14 Share Posted September 6, 2023 I'm all for the idea, but, I'm not sure I trust anyone to implement reusable liquor bottles.
Gamecock_Cruiser Posted September 6, 2023 #15 Share Posted September 6, 2023 This is nothing to do with recycling. It has to do with the amount of the pour! Sadly, it will hurt he bartenders when it comes to tips and it will hurt my drink because of the exact pour!
