I meant to post this last night, but internet crapped out in my room.

Coming out of Manhattan is interesting.

Last night, the headliner was

They were pretty impressive.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had not gone to see Cirque du Soleil last week for our anniversary.  So seeing this show was like…meh after that show still fresh in my head.

I finally made it to the MDR for dinner.

Menu

These are “bay scallop” not escargot.  They were ok, not the same even though its the same setup.

I thought this was Beef Carpaccio at first.  Its not.  Vitello Tonnato.

IMG_8449.thumb.jpeg.44a19ef8b813409f90436ffba4417fdf.jpeg

Beef Tenderloin

IMG_8451.thumb.jpeg.434e8311e38e5745025a08b5a9c03264.jpeg

And “Pecan Pie”.  This wasn’t that good.

So the end of Day 2.

Was the pecan pie dry or was something wrong with the texture? I only ask because this type of pie is normally quite forgiving when you cook it.

I make homemade pecan pie and I rarely find it anywhere that tastes anything like mine (or my mothers or grandmothers).  It's not that forgiving really.  It can be ruined several different ways.  While I love chocolate, it doesn't belong in a pecan pie.  Traditional southern pecan pie has karo syrup, eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla and pecans in a regular old pie crust.  I've had some not so good ones in several restaurants.

WTH! They charge 4.94 for a transaction fee? What’s that for, someone ringing up the check? 🙄

i was just in DC and every restaurant i was at had a 3 or more percent fee. easier than new menus i guess. they hope to remove it once inflation dies down

My wife makes it look so easy. I might not appreciate the intricacies and nuisances that are needed. I can bake but she is so good that I leave it to the pro for the same reason the smoker and grill is normally my domain. She can do it all but we both have our strengths so why compete?

Bottom line is that so many supermarkets and bakeries can supply a reasonable pecan pie and RCI used to do it on a regular basis too. Almost all of the desserts I have looked at recently seem to appear perfect. Then you take a bite...............

Had the tenderloin about 3 hours ago tonight, portions are small, our waiter got us  a second plate. It was very good, medium rare. 🙂

That is encouraging. I can deal with a small portion. I would rather have a small portion of heaven than a large portion of hell.

Thanks for your input. Things are looking up and I am really hoping it continues when I vacation on the Jewel in November in the MDR. Much easier to request two good pieces of meat instead of regretting one.

🤣

Our dinner was good, portions large but service was soooo slow! Even for us Brits who are used to a leisurely dinner!

Never made it to the show.
Did our free spins and won zilch/nada!

Ended up at the Martini 🍸 bar - very quiet ship tonight; possibly because it was rather bumpy out there earlier ( it’s much better now).

Clocks forward one hour tonight so less sleep!

Due to the fact we have used a lot of fuel ️ to get up to Greenland Nuuk, we will need to refuel and will now not leave till 10pm.

The sun is out, the weather is gorgeous. The seas have calmed down.

We chased the hurricane 🌀 up and the closest we got to the eye was 105 miles… so Jewel has also become a hurricane chasing ship!

There are a lot of badge wearers on board!

Thanks Jimbo, I'm Ok with small portions.  As long as the meat is the same quality.  I've been working hard at weight loss for the last six months and having some success.  I've even been on two cruises in that time and only gained a couple of pounds each time and then quickly took that weight back off.

Last night is a blur for me.  I had no pictures of food because my phone was acting up.  I “took” the pictures.  But they never manifested on my phone for some reason.

I pretty much found a spot at Vintages and set up my computer until dinner.  The Alley Cats were the headliners, but we saw them last year.  They were fun, but i really didn’t want to see them again.

Then i tried to make it through the sexiest man contest but that was at 11 and i was kind of drunk.  So i passed out.

I’m outside with my coffee.  We lost an hour last night I theoretically slept till noon.

Enjoying my coffee and figuring out what to do today.  If anything.
