Good morning.

Thank you for today's daily reports.

3 good days.

A very good quote.

I will give today's food and drink a miss preferring my Rib eye steak meal last night.

Prayers 🙏 for all those who are unwell.

I hope all Dailyites have a wonderful day.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

Happy Thanksgiving.  (although we ate our Thanksgiving turkey yesterday)  We have so much to be thankful for.   Another rainy day for us, I guess I'll stay in and watch TV.

Three good days to celebrate.

I like Douglas Adams, he was a marvelous writer.

I'll pass on the meal.  The drink would be good on a warm summer day.  I hope the wine is tasty.

I've never been to today's port.

Prayers for our world.

I hope this is a good week for everyone.

Good morning friends!  Thank you Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report for Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving.  It's very chilly again today with only 42F overnight, and a high of 75 with sunny skies expected later on.

Nice days to celebrate with Curious Events Day, Fire Prevention Day and Leif Erikson Day.  I'm not sure what type of curious events they refer to but it could turn out to be fun.  Hurray for those who champion fire prevention.  I have heard we should replace our smoke detectors every 10 years.  We have not done that yet and I wonder if anyone here has experience doing that?  I certainly wouldn't want a fire to go undetected in our home.  Leif Erikson was a very early explorer and a brave one, I'm sure.  I like the quote, but would pass on the meal suggestion, drink and wine today.  Amazing the things we learn about these days in history!  Thank you in advance to our F&B ladies Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for their reports this morning.🍹🍷

Prayers fervently said for the people of Israel during this horrific time in their history, also for the Ukraine people suffering war too.  I also say prayers daily for my DB, friend Susan's DH Scott and DB Mark, my friends here on the Daily listed on the Care list, and even those who haven't mentioned their problems. 🙏 Hoping for pain relief for all in need.  I'm sorry to hear there was an earthquake in the western US last night and hopefully there was little damage.  Cheers 🥂to those celebrating happy events and sailing the seas currently.  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the Care and Celebrations list keeping.  🚢🎉

The port today is Jeju Island, Cheju City, Korea.  I have read that Cheju is the former name for Jeju, Korea.  Jeju City (Cheju), South Korea is the way it was written the last time we had this location as our port city on Feb. 15, 2022.  I'll provide the link in case you posted photos last time.  I haven't been to Jeju (Cheju) before having only visited Busan, South Korea.

I hope everyone has a great day today, staying safe and well.

Good Morning, thanks for today’s report.  Happy Thanksgiving to our friends up north.  No holiday here since I have to work.  It should be a nice day today but cooler than last week.  I’ll pass on the meal suggestion and will have some leftover roast pork.  I’m very pleased with what we got accomplished over the weekend and will continue the project next weekend.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich!
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Dailyites!

It is 61, but feels warmer than yesterday , because there is no breeze. Hoping today is as lovely as yesterday.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with all of us! Praying that your pain decreases & goes away altogether.

Gym, Bindi walks, chores, a visit from the electrician who is goin to install the 240v outlet into my garage for the car - he wants to make sure he gets it right! Music to my ears. Might be too cool for the pool, we will see how warm the water is.

Prayers for all who need our support. @smitty34877 Terry, praying for you, Tana, your families and your support teams. @HAL Sailer Melissa, praying that DH continues to improve.

Cheers to all who are celebrating.

May we each find a reason to smile today!

2020 Lapostolle Apalta

This red blend from Chile is enjoyable on its own or with food. Not sure if I noticed the “cigar note”, but the blackberries come through! Available from a decent number of distributors with online prices starting at $14.20.

Winemaker Notes

Intense and deep red color with violet edges; Elegant, fine and well balanced nose with black fruits such as blackberry and black spicy aromas; Palate has a silky attack followed by red and black fruit, coffee and chocolate flavors with good tannins delivering a very good structure.

JS93 James Suckling

Fresh, composed and subtle with a classy and refined cigar note to the black plums and some blue fruit. A hint of chili chocolate, too. A medium-to full-bodied red with very bright fruit and very fine-grained tannins. Very complete, with poise, class and power. 65% cabernet sauvignon with syrah, carmenere, merlot and a touch of garnacha.

Greetings from Halifax Canada on Thanksgiving (plus several other US days).  Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie.  I like the days, especially Fire Prevention Day.

I have not been to Jeju and will celebrate in ignorant bliss their alphabet.  Love the Adams quote.

I'll pass on the meal suggestion.  My alternative is Bouquet of Garden Greens, New York Sirloin, and Apple Pie A la Mode as served last night on Crystal Serenity.  Sadly, not really a Thanksgiving menu today.

🦃  HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY IN CANADA!  🦃

Good morning from a cool, 57F, and still dark central Texas.  The predicted high is 87F.  Our humidity is 75% with a dew point of 50F, that's not a problem since I'll be inside cleaning house.  Hopefully, this afternoon, the convertible will be ready for me to pick up.

We've had some curious events the past year, but I hope they don't repeat themselves.  Fire prevention is very important.  Leif Erikson Day on the same day as Columbus Day in the US is good, since he and his followers were the first to set foot in North America.

I like the Douglas Adams quote.

We'll pass on the meal and the drink.  If all goes as planned, we'll be having the garlic shrimp stir-fry again.  The wine sounds like one I'd try.

We visited Jeju Island, Cheju City in October 2002 on Volendam.

Two more interesting days in history from the world's past.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, We replaced several smoke detector in our house and motorhome.  If they are not hardwired, it is easy, and those that are wired in shouldn't be to difficult to replace.

@Crazy For Cats  Jake, congratulations on getting rooms organized over the weekend.  It's not an easy job.

Hope there are no repeat memes.  😉  RNB, please let me know if there are any.

Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here

My review of the MSC Preziosa was published in the Review section of CC.

https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=706505

One funny thing that I forgot to mention was that Sue and DSIL shared a stateroom while I traveled as a single. It was to maximize points because of the way that MSC awards Voyager points. One day I received an invitation to a "Single's Mingle" on board. Surprise! Surprise! No, I didn't go.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.  😁

- Jack

On October 10, 2002, on the Asia Pacific Explorer Cruise on Volendam, we visited Cheju City.  After walking around town, we decided to rent a car and explore the island.  However, that is when we found an international driver's license was required in South Korea.  With the help of the doorman at a hotel, we hired a taxi for a tour.

This is the scene that greeted us upon arrival.

We stopped at two major attractions our tour of the island.  The first was Songbook Theme Park.  It has more than 100 miniature buildings, etc., from 30 countries around the world.  This picture shows several of the miniatures.  You will find the US Capitol, the White House, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and many more famous places there.

The view back toward town and the port.  You can barely see the Volendam on the left, but you can see the air we were breathing.

We also stopped at the Jeju World Cup Stadium where preliminary rounds for the  World Cup were held.  That year Japan and South Korea each hosted some of the preliminary rounds, and the finals were in Japan.

@StLouisCruiserswe have replaced all our smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors a few times (almost 54 years in the same house). If you are unsure how old a detector is they have a manufacture date on them somewhere. And most of them are set up to chirp at the 10 year mark usually at an in opportune time, like 2am! When the previous CO monitor went I couldn’t get it to stop chirping even when unplugged and battery removed so I took it out to the sunroom - at 3 a.m.

Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors!🦃🍁

I like the days - fire prevention is definitely important, we have not replaced any smoke detectors since the house was built 16 years ago (guess the next to-do list has now been started); where would we be w/o our buddy Leif? As @Quartzsite Cruiser mentioned, appropriate Leif Erikson Day & Columbus Day are on the same day.

Like the quote; pass on the meal & drink; not been to Korea.

55° headed to 90° but the weekend cools to 75°; we need the cooler temps.

Shoulder is really bad this morning but I'll exercise it anyway in hopes of moving through the pain. PT this afternoon will either be really bad or bring relief - I hope it's the latter. This is the first visit since returning from the cruise. With less than 3 weeks before we leave, I need to keep pushing for progress.

We did not get jabs yesterday, so I need to get them scheduled.

Prayers and positive thoughts for all.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  Lots of Turkey and trimmings being shared!  🥂

I have SO much to be thankful for!  I’m emotional about a lot these days. The quote is perfect for me especially now.

I haven’t been to Korea or any of Eastern Asia. Not expecting I will get there. I will enjoy what I do have and wherever I can travel to.

Fire Prevention and awareness teaching was a big part of my work with the fire dept in NM. Smoke alarms save lives. Have a plan so you know what to do. Sleep with your bedroom door closed!  It reduces the smoke and heat load in your near vicinity, giving you more time to call for help.

I deeply appreciate your compassion!  Lenda, Brenda, Gerri, Vanessa, Annie…so many here!  In the midst of your own needs you have acknowledged mine and reached out across the miles comforting me. Again and again. Thank you!  I’m working through the changes. Yesterday the realtor’s assistant called and cancelled our appt. She’s sick. Maybe come Wednesday if she’s well enough. Oiy! We can’t afford to get sick now! Another realtor coming tomorrow , and move consultant. It’ll all work out.

DH and I rearranged boxes in our storage room. It will be our staging area. We sure don’t have the stamina we had even 3 years ago!  But we’ll have help. We both agree now is a good time to be making this move. We went to Home Depot for some supplies- bubble wrap and tape, will go to U-Haul today for boxes and paper.

Love seeing the long list of cruisers!  What fun!  Blessings to all in need near and far.
Hoping you each can enjoy a bit of today!  Looks like Graham and Roy are sure eating well!  Happy for you!
Maureen.

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends,

Thanksgiving is my favorite meal to make and eat.  I am not sure what I will do this year. I have not heard anything about Murphy. I will try to check in with DSIL today. They went on a camping trip last week and I did not want to bother them.

Prayers for those in the world suffering from violence. Prayers for our care list.  There is lots of pain our Dailyites are suffering from.

Happy cruising to our lucky cruisers. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone.  We arrived home last evening safe and sound.  I’ve learned one thing on this trip, I’m a terrible journaler!  Between the time change, the not so great wifi preference to enjoy the moment, I gave up. Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends.  I like the quote and the collection of days.  The drink and meal suggestions even sound nice.  I think I’m glad to be home!  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our pray list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!

Good morning, everyone!

We have another chilly start to the day here in mid-Michigan.  It is currently 40F and the high for today is 52F with mostly cloudy skies.  Yes, we are heading into Gray Sky season.  Not a lot on the agenda today.  I'll head to the gym and then work a little more to get the fabric all cut for my quilt.

In case you were wondering about the meal of the day today, that last word is shiitake mushrooms.  And, I'm sure they are very good in this dish.  https://www.aheadofthyme.com/warm-lentil-salad-with-butternut-squash-and-shiitake-mushrooms/

lentilsaladbutternutmushrooms1.thumb.jpg.c8433f25dc7e53ecf8a1f517e0148955.jpg

This next salad looks good enough to eat.  Oh, wait, that is what we're supposed to do with it.  https://desireerd.com/roasted-shiitake-and-lentil-salad/

lentilsaladbutternutmushrooms2.thumb.jpg.8bc0140eb1bd1c43f7ec13e342223a5d.jpg

This last one doesn't have the butternut squash in it, but you could easily add it in.  It looked too good to pass up.  https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/spiced-lentils-mushrooms-and-greens
