Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.  Happy Hump Day.

Another cool rainy morning.  I'm tired of it, sure wish the sun would come out.

I was a girl child so that's a good reason to party.  A big thank you to Emergency Nurses.

Not sure about the quote, seems a little over the top.

I'll pass on the meal and the drink, but I'll take the wine.

I've never been to Kiel.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  I hope there are lots of celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.  Stay safe.

Good morning friends!  It is 61 here, and will be cloudy and 74 later on.  There is a good chance of showers this afternoon and evening, possibly overnight.  Thank you Rich @richwmn for our Daily and Fleet Report!

I will certainly celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child.  Besides me having been a girl child, I have one daughter and two granddaughters who mean the world to me.  No parties here unfortunately.  A huge thank you to Emergency nurses!  That's an extremely tough job.  I think the quote is a good one.  I'm sure Debbie will have some great recipes for the Thai turkey meatballs in coconut curry.   I'll pass on the Pinnacle Moscow Mule but would gladly try the Sauvignon Blanc.  Thanks to Debbie @dfish,  Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for their reporting.

As for the Day in History there were big changes in the Catholic church back in the early 1960's, all for the good.

Prayers for the people of Israel who have had so many massacred.  This also applies to Ukraine.  Personal prayers for my DB with PF, Susan's DH and DB who are both extremely ill.  In addition I pray for all here on the Daily, Baby Murphy and family who need a miracle, and those in pain needing relief.  Hoping Annie and Chuck are able to finish up their preparations for their cruise.  Congrats to all cruising currently and heading out for one.  My arms aren't really hurting much from my two shots yesterday, thankfully.  For Vanessa @JazzyV who keeps the lists so well for us, thank you for that!

The port this morning is Kiel, Germany.  The last time it was posted was March 28, 2022 but was shown as Kiel (Hamburg), Germany.  Having been through the Kiel Canal and a port stop of Hamburg on the Prinsendam in 2017, I posted photos of our journey through the Kiel Canal first and then a second post with photos from Hamburg.  I have not spent any time in Kiel itself.  I will post the link to March 28, 2022 and my photos afterwards.

Photos first of the Kiel Canal.

On May 23, 2017 we were headed towards the Kiel Canal after visiting Hamburg the day before on the Elegant Explorer, Prinsendam.  Hamburg was a beautiful city and we had a great time there just looking around.  We approached the lock we had to go through to get into the Kiel Canal.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJi-WkAXSNs1DwhHkt4l28L?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1497892306

People sat on the benches and waved to us.  This would continue on along the canal.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKD8hc7QmWRucIpsnvQQoW2?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1497892311

Some of our "fans".  These people had a Welcome flag, a Prinsendam flag and a U.S. flag.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJM0vL0cg4NQPaXieezqPxC?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1497892354

Some people would stop at a pullover, wave to the Prinsendam, then hop in their cars and drive along further to stop and wave some more.  It was really fun keeping an eye out for them that afternoon.  I made a comfy spot in the window sill of our room so I wouldn't miss anything.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJi68Fs4zI9eHvZm-pRJ2k7?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1497892362

The window wasn't clean enough for good photos though, so I'd run outside once in a while to take some pictures.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLuw5sSZj4YSHLhh06yrDIA?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1497892366

I'll never forget our journey down the Kiel Canal.  Not that many cruise ships are able to navigate that busy waterway.

Photos of Hamburg will be next.  I hope everyone here has a positive, healthy day!

Hamburg was a nice place to visit in 2017, too.  We did some scenic cruising along the Elbe River as we approached Hamburg.  Somehow they even found the wherewithal to make a beach on the river.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKeAiGxuyYkJxAnAUdu5KMr?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1497891285

We were docked there overnight so on Monday we went for a walk around town and stopped at a botanical garden in Hamburg.

Girls and emergency nurses certainly deserve to be celebrated, not sure about "my" party, but I can go with it.

Agree with @puppycanducruise the quote seems a bit much, hmm?

Pass on the meal & drink, would have the wine, not been to Germany.

Day in history was important for Catholics and a good lesson to all - be more inclusive.

66° headed to 81° - I appreciate the cooler temps...finally.

Heavy work day ahead of visit to Chiro this afternoon - sure hope she can do something for my shoulder; it's really bothering me.

I spent quite a bit of time last night researching adapters for Italy and ended up ordering another one, just in case. Some sites say Type C 2 prong, others say Type L 3 prong; I have Type C and ordered an L, so should be good whichever is correct. Also decided to get euros from ATM at airport when we land, so that is checked off. I will request a pre-paid card today per credit union suggestion since pickpockets are such a concern.

Prayers and positive thoughts for all.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! Cloudy, 12 degrees warmer than yesterday & a possibility of rain. Bindi was not interested in walking this morning, so it was a quick trip out.

Vanessa, thank you for sharing our happenings. Praying that your pain decreases & disappears. Haircut for me today. Bindi walks, HIIT, chores, but probably no pool since T’storms are expected.

Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here

It is a day of reflection for me as it is the the first anniversary of my brother's passing.

We have been to Kiel on our Battic cruise aboard the Zuiderdam. We elected to take the train that day to visit Lubeck. The advise was to "follow the Blue Line" to the Hauptbahnhof. We actually crossed the Hochdonn High Bridge over the Kiel Canal 2-1/2 weeks ago while traveling by train from Hamburg to Copenhagen. It was constructed in 1920 and Rises to 136ft. above the Canal.

For those fans of the Prinsendam, I happen to find yesterday an excellent video recorded on September 22 this year of the AMERA arriving in Cobh, Ireland. The videographer had also recorded our arrival and departure while we were aboard the MSC Preziosa.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

Just a quick checkin, not really keeping up. Great photos Sandi!
Sad for those in pain, it is exhausting!
Blessings to all!  Near and far!

We talked with movers and 1 realtor yesterday, second realtor coming today. Seems, with packers, we might move before Thanksgiving. It’s all happening fast. I guess that’s good. We’re driving north tomorrow for meetings Friday. Grandkids and daughter in from Idaho will join us - she’s visiting her girls for a week.  Stay north Saturday visiting with the family, drive home Sunday. Trying to take it one day at a time and stay sane!  Loading the car today with kayak gear grandkids will store plus stuff they can re-home. They’ll be down here in Maryland next week to help us sort and will take our kayaks home to their garage.

Yesterday had a call from someone from the retreat group, wanted to drop something off… it was a framed photo of our retreat group from Saturday!  So touching!

Praying we stay well through this whole process!

Excited for those in the last week countdown!  Arrivederci Annie and Chuck, and soon Terri and Jim!  Keeping you all in my heart and prayers even when I’m not posting.
Maureen

Good morning from central Texas where it is clear and 66F that feels like 66F.  The humidity is 93% with a dew point of 64F.  Our predicted high will be 78F and 78F in Dallas this afternoon.  Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that the car will be ready this morning in time for us to head to DH's doctor appointments  If not, we'll borrow our neighbors car.

As a girl child who had two girls, I will definitely celebrate the day.  Not sure if a party will be in the plans for today, but I'll salute emergency nurses.  We had some wonderful nurses take care of DH in emergency rooms a few times over the past year or so.

The Marcus Aurelius quote is good, since you can plan for the future, but never know what it will hold.

We'll pass on the meal, coconut and curry.  We'll also pass on the drink and the wine.

We have not been to Kiel, Germany, but have been through the Kiel Canal twice on the Prinsendam.  We have sailed the canal in both directions.  I'll post my pictures of the canal in a bit.  I'll save the pictures from Hamburg until it is the port of the day.

Pope John XXIII and the Second Vatican Council changed the Catholic church and brought it more into the 20th century.

@Haljo1935  I hope the Chiro visit  today helps with your shoulder.   When we are in Europe, we either use a credit card with no foreign money fee or get Euros from an ATM at a bank.

@Heartgrove  Jack, I'll be thinking of you today as you remember your brother.  Thanks for the video of the Prinsendam as she looks now as Amera.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, the things needed to be done for your move seem to be moving right along.  Safe travels tomorrow.  I hope the meetings go well Friday.  I know you will enjoy seeing the family on Saturday.

Good morning and prayers for all in need.  Thinking about world problems — and prayers for the innocent people of Israel and Ukraine.  It breaks my heart to see regular, ordinary people being so horribly effected by the actions of others.    I can’t for the life of me understand why so many “leaders” work towards conflict rather than a peaceful life.  But enough of my rant!!

Good to see so many cruising.  We are all very fortunate to be able to do so.

DH Bill seems to be improving.  Less coughing and sleeping better.  I have a decision to make about whether or not to join my twin on Liberty of the Seas next Thursday.  It is a free cruise for her and she invited me along.  I only have to pay the fees and taxes.  It would be fun since we would celebrate our birthday together.  Our daughter would come to stay but I am not sure I am ready to leave DH.

Weather quite chilly here but I do love fall weather so all is good.  Have a great day.  Katherine

Good morning to all.

Thank you to Rich @richwmn for the Fleet Report and Daily.  Always happy to be here each day, whether it is morning or late in the day.

Thank you to Vanessa @JazzyV for keeping up with us.  I hope you are feeling better.

Thank you also to Debbie @dfish and Ann @cat shepard and Dixie @cat shepard for keeping us nourished and hydrated.

I think I will pass on the food and drink but the wine sounds nice.

Today in history is an important anniversay for the Catholic Church and comes at a time when the Pope is holding a Synod to make the Church more progressive.  That is a good thing.  Too bad he has so many detractors, especially in the United States.

i am a girl child and celebrate that.  Unfortunately, I do not have any children.  Today is not a party day for us—unless we party with the HVAC guy who’s coming this afternoon.  i will definitely celebrate Emergency Nurses.  I have been the beneficiary of their care a few times.

The quote is good.

Kiel was a port of call on our Baltic Cruise this past June/July.  We stopped there twice.  On the first stop we walked around the port.  There was a water festival in progress.  On the second stop we did a tour to Hamburg.  Unfortunately, the guide wasn’t very good and I felt it was a very expensive wasted day.

Prayers for all on the cares list.  Especially for Baby Murphy and her parents.  Also for @mamaofami”s DH Sam that he be released from the Hospital and admitted to rehab and again on the road to recovery.  Also  for @HAL Sailer’s DH who is hospitalized.  And for @StLouisCruisers’s friend Scott.

Prayers also for Tana and for @smitty34877as you adjust to a new lifestyle.  Glad you have a new aide and hope she works out and stays around for a while.

Cheers for those celebrating and cruising.   @marshhawk Stay calm as you prepare tor your trip in the next few days.

We decided that we would wait until we return for DH to see the neurologist.  He feels better about that. And so do I. There is nothing causing distress and this is a consultation regarding memory problems.  So it is one less thing we have to do before we leave for Italy.

Hopefully I will get some things done today.  Finally had a decent night’s sleep.  Not great, but better than the last few nights.

Hope everyone has a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Good morning, everyone!

It is a typical fall day here in mid-Michigan.  Partly sunny with a high of 57F.  My kind of weather.  I pulled something near my right hip recently and walking is pretty painful.  So, I am taking it easy for the next couple of days.  We are having Farkle Friday tonight because Sue and I are going downstate for a program on Friday.  We are having Beef Noodle Casserole from Paul Prudhomme's Seasoned America. I've made it before and it is very flavorful.

Today's meal sounds interesting.  I know many don't like curry, but I'd be willing to try this.  Our first recipe is made with all gluten-free, dairy-free and paleo-friendly ingredients. https://rachlmansfield.com/healthy-thai-turkey-meatballs-in-coconut-curry/

The first time we went through the Kiel Canal on Prinsendam was June 9, 2011, after an overnight in Hamburg.  On August 2, 2016, again on the Prinsendam, we left the Baltic and headed to Hamburg through the Kiel Canal.  The pictures are a complication from both cruises.  Because the Kiel Canal cuts through a varied landscape in Germany, I have enjoyed both passages through the canal.

These pictures are from 2011 as we entered the first lock, and the lock looking behind the ship.

I believe this is the administrative building for the lock.

A town along the canal

On our first time through the canal we passed this barge with the bow of a ship being built somewhere.  Further along, we passed a ship builder who looked to be building mega yachts.

Besides several bridges crossing the canal there are two types of ferries.  Fist a traditional ferry loading cars.

Then the ferry where someone was thinking outside the box.

It was a good thing the Prinsendam's mast could be laid down, or she would not have fit under the low bridges.

In 2011, Prinsendam had a deck barbecue featuring sausages of all types.  There was also a local band to entertain us.

Good Morning to All!  I will celebrate all of the days - I am a girl child, I was an ER nurse, and today I will party as I am a year older - well, that was yesterday but I was too busy to party!!  The quote is something like my Dad would always tell me:  Do the best you can today.  It might be less than yesterday or tomorrow but always do your best today.  The meal sounds interesting as well as the drink, pass on the wine and never been to Kiel.  What a great day in Catholic history!!

Had a good day subbing yesterday BUT when I went to get my labs drawn at 0720, their sub didn't come in so that pushed back all appts!  I had to reschedule for today.  Oh, well.  When I went yesterday to sub, I saw lots of "family" I hadn't seen in a while as lots of subs were needed (prof dev day) and received lots of hugs.  I am subbing this afternoon for 3 hours.  Easy, easy day.

So sad what is going on in the world these days.  My thoughts for all on the care list and cheers to those celebrating!!

Have a great Hump day everyone!!
