After the Suez talk, I was ready for some ☀️ sun and a lounger☀️😎

We went to change for bathing attire and headed out. 

Mr was sent out on a walk…. He needs to move a bit😝

I took it easy in the ☀️ 

 

Around 13.45 I asked if we could have some lunch in AquaSpa… Mr was njaa🙄 Really? You know it’s British pub lunch in OceanView🤭😝

So lunch in OceanView it was😩 

(You know that box of 🦴 is getting into a shipping container soon🙈) 

 

Mr was a happy camper🤩 Guiness Pie, Fish & Chips…. 

I had some salad🐰🐰🐰

 

After lunch we walked back to the pool deck. (NO, we don’t occupied the chairs when we had lunch) 

Found new loungers😎

It was musical trivia by the pool. 

We did decent in score🤓

 

It was time for a round of Ludo🎲 (who says I’m not prepared😅magnetic)

First round was easygoing for me…. Round two was a full failure😂😂 Mr will “fly” the rest of the evening🥳🥳🥳😆

 

In the background CD Giuseppe had an aqua dance class in the pool. 

 

I made a dinner reservation for Cyprus tonight. So we will be back to starting point of our Tour’d MDR😌

 

At 16.20 we called it for today by the pool. It was getting cooler outside in the wind.

I'm with Mr.   The British Pub Day in OVC is one of my favorites.   I love the Guinness Pies and Chips...I was also surprisingly impressed with the fish and Chips.

 

Hope you enjoy the Canal -  Just noticed you are getting close -  

 

What is really interesting is you are following QE2 -   When we crossed in the opposite direction she was directly in front of us also.   SilverSeas Spirit is to her port.  Wonder if she will slip in between you. 

 

I'm guessing she will be behind you because she is only cruising at 15 knots.    It is so fun to see so many ship close by.

 

I was surprised that you are entering so late.   When came in the opposite direction we entered about 8:00 AM and was daylight for the entire transit.

@Jim_Iain don’t blame you on the British lunch❤️ Mr loves it❤️

When we go to U.K we need to do at least one night Pie in a pub dinner and a night of Indian curry🙌🏻😂🍺🇬🇧


We are getting closer👌🏻 it’s almost Christmas for Mr🤩🙌🏻

What fun.    Your pictures are bringing back so many memories of our crossing.   One thing I found interesting in the Canal 

 

I was just watching a really good YouTube Video on the Suez Canal -  both a good history as well as a time lapse of the crossing.

I'm always wary of British food outside of the UK, I've had people here tell me 'so and so restaurant/pub is really good' and been really disappointed.

I had priority tender on infinity in May/June👌🏻❤️

Priority check-in is away😉

(not that we use it🤣🤣) We are always one of the last ones usually😆

 

When we sailed on Summit from Bayonne, they had taken the walk way off already😅 they just waited for us and someone else😂😂 So we took the back door😝 The rest of the ship had arrived 11.00😅 and we arrived 13.45😝

We had priority tender on the Beyond last May.  We get off early and sometimes come back early so there is not much of a line.  We too have changed our ways and board on the later side with no lines.  So much nicer for us. 
The one and only time we had a suite was when we were cruising Alaska with our two grandchildren and we did not want to book a second room.  Actually felt guilty when escorted to the front of the line bypassing all those that were patiently standing in line on check in.
 

Is Mr Normandy planning to stay up into the night to watch the process in the Suez Canal tonight?  Love all your photos. Keep them coming.

Great video Jim, thank you for posting brought back a lot of wonderful memories from our 2017 cruise with Celebrity. The history is fascinating.

You will have to try the Meat Pies for sure -  don't think you will b disappointed.   Iain being a Scot loves them -  He usually just has cheese and crusty bread  and maybe a pate for lunch but when they are on offer he definitely enjoys them.

Has the QM2 saluted you with her whistles?    It’s always fun when you are onboard the QM2 and another ship challenges her.   This may be frowned on with todays world situation.   The QM2 has two “steam” whistles, one from the original Queen Mary.   There is a definite difference in sound and in timing.

If Iain eats them I trust his judgement as I grew up eating liver & bacon, meat pies, scotch pies, scotch eggs and haggis 🤣

They aren't that daring but have a Beaf an Kidney, Chicken and Guinness Beef.

When we lived in Ireland we would always pick up a meat pie for Sunday Lunch -  I'm still learning to appreciate Haggis.  😝

That's still pretty good options.

 

lol haggis is acquired taste as it's dry (best one I had was in Aberdeen that came with a cranberry sauce). But I grew up poor and my dad lived through world war 2 so it was a case of I ate what I got or don't eat. 

The only time I was picky about dinner was when I was about 8 and came home to see a full bunny rabbit (like pre prep for dinner) in the kitchen and then had rabbit stew for dinner.

Thanks for letting us know Jim.  I do love a good beef & kidney pie, I'm banned from eating them at home because my husband & sons can't stand the smell of kidney pie.  Guess what I'll be eating at OV when it's British Pub food day?

@Norwaylady   Yikes.... So much for the schedule.   I was just looking and at 4:50 AM you are still sitting outside the entrance along with Queen Elizabeth and SilverSeas Spirit.     The good news is you should have daylight for the entire passage.   Looks like you may be #3 of the Cruise Ships.

Lots of Freight Traffic started heading south bound.   Hopefully you will be on your way soon.  The Green dots are the three cruise ships.

Thanks for all the info and the photos.  I'm really enjoying following along, plus it's very helpful since I haven't sailed with Celebrity yet (booked for next summer).  

 

I'm confused about Greece.  Is this immigration thing new?  We ported in Piraeus in June and didn't need to show our passports or wait in any immigration lines at all.  Anyone know?

1. Immigration 

It’s because the ship is leaving Schengen completely. 
Due to the Suez sailing.

 

So this is not normal and necessary on a Mediterranean cruise in season😉


2. Pub lunch is free and served as a daily special. It’s in oceanview (buffet)

If you studied the daily cruise compass I posted, you will see in the food section that in OceanView they have a daily “theme” for lunch and/or dinner. 
So yesterday’s lunch was British Pub.

That means Pie’s, fish & chips etc.

Well, a very good morning to everyone! 
 

as @Jim_Iain has discovered, we are still waiting to start our process into the canal! 
 

I was armed an ready before I went to bed. 
Rigged for a Timelapse and binoculars by the bed. 
 

Well what did I discover when I opened my 👀????

We have not moved.
And the first I see next to us are Qunard and SilverSea😝
