Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! Another lovely morning here, though a few more clouds than yesterday. I am happy to see that the “bold” is working again.

Vanessa, praying you get some relief from the pain. Thank you for keeping up with all of us.

Gym, Bindi walks, a visit to the Vet for her heart worm test & chores. Should keep me busy.

Oak Farm Vineyards Tievoli Red Blend 2021

This California red blend sounds lovely. I used the 2021 info, since that should be the easiest to find. Consumers give it a 4 out 5. It might be a bit too bold for me to sip without food, but I would try. 😎 Available from a decent number of distributors with prices starting at $15.95.

Winemaker notes

This Blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Barbera and Sangiovese presents aromas of dark fruits, intertwined with notes of vanilla and black tea. It is rich in flavors with a medium body and a balanced and persistent finish.

This unique blend contains four different grape varietals all grown in Lodi. Zinfandel is the backbone of this blend, followed by Barbera, Petite Sirah and Sangiovese. The Zinfandel comes from two different vineyards, Hohenrieder and Lobaugh Vineyard, both Lodi Rules and Lodi Appellation. These Zinfandels bring the fruitiness to this wine with aromas of blackberry jam and fresh strawberries. The Barbera is from our Estate Property and is on a vertical shoot position trellis system. The Barbera is a key variety to this wine because it adds the acidity backbone. It helps brighten the wine and smooth it out. The Petite Sirah from our Estate property is a great addition to the blend because it strengthens the color and helps with the structure on the back of the palate. Lastly, just a little bit of Sangiovese (from our Estate Property too) that helps the balance of the blend with its acidity, fruitiness and dryness.

All 4 of these Varieties were hand picked and destemmed to tank. They were inoculated separately to ferment. Upon completion of primary and secondary fermentation the varieties were combined and aged in 25% new French and American Oak for approximately 18 months before being bottled.

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily updates.  Nice collection of days, I appreciate all of the fine work that our navy does to keep us safe.  Interesting quote.  I’ll pass on the meal and drink suggestions.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Praying for everyone on our prayer list, special thoughts for the shooting victims in Maine who were just trying to have an enjoyable evening bowling.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today especially @grapau27 on his birthday! 🥂

Thanks for our TGIF Daily, Rich.

and thanks to Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie & Ann.

I’ll happily celebrate black cat & Navy day.

LOL on the Berner quote.

it’s a rainy day here and poor Ivan wasn’t happy about that but I did manage to lure him out to do his “thing” before I ended up here at the periodontist.  Of course, I got wet in the process - but it’s all good 😉

IMG_1109.thumb.jpeg.4f10f56c474fa7d0d34dc75167912713.jpeg

I’m in catch up mode making appointments for snow tires, physio and doctor (damn sciatica) along with regular stuff.  Ivan is going to be in Kong glory next week 😂   News is so sad, I hope no one minds me posting this:

Just hoping they are wrong on snow on Monday.  I am NOT in the mood.

Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, health issues, worries & those that need them.  Cheers to those celebrating and cruising 🙂

After my grooming and some small chores this morning I looked outside and we are all fogged in!  Earlier it was just over the tops of the trees on the horizon but now it's pea soup!

Back to work updating my cruise photo books.  I hope I can finish doing that and saving them to my computer via PDF today.  I have 6 or 7 more to finish up but they are mostly shorter cruises taken early in our cruise history.  Easy peasy.

Good morning from cloudy NY with temperatures reaching  75 later. I have another vegetarian now as our teenager has declared his intentions. It reminds me of when DD declared hers as a teenager as well. That  makes it a majority so my carnivores are getting worried! I promised good meals for all will continue. Fortunately , I do enjoy cooking.

We celebrate black cat day everyday here. I have not been to the port.

I was glad to see that Paul @kochleffel arrived safely in Madrid and that Carol’s  DH  is home from the hospital @mamaofami. And Bon Voyage to @Norseh2o!

Good morning, everyone!

We have another mild start to the day here in mid-Michigan with a temperature of 64F.  I'm afraid that is the end of the warm weather for us as well.  Tomorrow the high is only 50F.  Almost all the leaves are down now.  The ones that are still up will fall in the wild areas of the lot, so no problem with that!

The eye doctor's office has finally agreed to refund all the money they owe me.  My vision insurance company interceded on my behalf as the office was violating the contract they had with the insurance company.  So, I only have to wait for the reimbursement check from them and from the Cleveland Clinic.  Why is everything such a hassle?

@mamaofami I'm glad that Sam is home again and hope that this time it is stay!

@Cruzin Terri I was dismayed to read that Jim had fallen.  I'm glad there are no broken bones, but I do agree that turning on lights helps now and then.  I keep telling my DS Sue that.  She has a thing against lighting.

Today's meal is more like a side dish to me.  I'm not sure it would be enough to fill me up on its own.  In this first recipe the mozzarella and marinara sauce make the dish.  https://www.howsweeteats.com/2020/09/cauliflower-parmesan/

cauliflowerparmesan1.thumb.jpg.4fd66a67f6f47ef29951539d97cff848.jpg

This next recipe doesn't have the mozzarella or marinara sauce.  That helps with the calories and this would make a nice side dish.  https://www.lecremedelacrumb.com/parmesan-roasted-cauliflower/

cauliflowerparmesan2.thumb.jpg.f28e55f3c084451cbfea39266eedcf25.jpg

This one is very similar to the first recipe and has a lot of great ideas for tweaking it.  If you want it to be a main dish and it doesn't need to be vegetarian, you can add some Italian sausage.  Or turkey.  Or chicken.  https://bellyfull.net/roasted-cauliflower-parmesan/

cauliflowerparmesan3.thumb.jpg.0b7b5d4b4fa80cfe9397b86d230daa93.jpg

You can do something similar with portabello mushroom caps.  Or cabbage "steaks".  Enjoy!

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Happy Friday to All! Thanks for the daily and fleet reports.  Three fantastic days as I love cats, beer and my parents were both in the Navy!!  A chuckle on the quote (it is true!!), I am sure I would like the meal and wine but will pass on the drink.  I will be in Peru next year.  I have seen Rebel Without A Cause and a big thanks to Pinckney!!

It is funny to wake up and it is so dark and cool.  The duvet is now on my bed and the portable fans have been turned off.  Ceiling fans are always on.

Nice day yesterday with students who I have had in other classes greet me with smiles on their faces.  Boy, I have to go back and study my algebra again; I have forgotten how to do it!!  Today it is with middle schoolers for choir and theatre!!  I had a nice pat on the back from a student (said "you need to be our sub always as you help us) and a teacher requested me but unfortunately I wasn't available.  I think my "dance card" is all full for November as I leave Nov 22nd.

Happy Birthday @grapau27 Thoughts for the entire world as it is needed urgently now and for those on the care list.  Cheers to those celebrating.

Have a great start to the weekend.

@grapau27 🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY Graham!  Wishing you a joyous day and an inspiring, healthy year ahead! 🎉

@kochleffel Glad you are there Paul, getting a room, train tickets and food!  Not so easy. Now for some rest.

@Cruzin Terri What a lot of ups and downs!  Give yourself a hug and Jim too. Deep breath!  🙏

I slept last night, long rest. DH didn’t sleep, now on phone in pursuit of the authorization letter his been seeking for weeks. What will be will be.

Photographer coming this morning. The realtor wanted sunny but it’s mostly cloudy still. Maybe later.

Blessings to all the Care list, all in need of healing, comfort, hope, guidance or rest. Peace.

Smooth travels to all away. Excited for all our many cruisers!  Enjoy it all!
Maureen

About Callo/Lima…. I set up a private custom tour there to the Herrera Gold Museum and Pacha…. can’t remember the name…. ruins outside Lina south of Callo. It was difficult but a great day. Do Not Drive in Lima. Just don’t do it. Don’t try. Don’t think of trying. It’s just not safe for other people to try it.

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday!   I like black cats and have owned a lot of cats but never had a black one.  We will celebrate beer day with a glass of Kirkland Brunello.   My DBIL retired from the Navy after being a deep sea diver most of his career.   A true quote.   We had been to Callao in January this year.  I will share some photos.

I will pass on the cauliflower dish, I hate it when cooked.   I will pass on the cocktail but today's wine looks like a winner.

Thanks for updating us each day Vanessa!  @mamaofami I am so glad that Sam is home and your extended struggle to get him there.   @Cruzin Terri so sorry your husband fell, thankfully no bones broken.   Prayers for everyone needing them in our group. Prayers for those in war zones, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the Israeli hostages and innocents in the line of fire.   Prayers for the people grieving in Maine.

@grapau27 Happy Birthday!   🎂

Good morning to all the Dailyites.

Thank you to Rich for the Fleet Report and Daily.

I love the quote.  It is really funny.

I think I will pass on the meal.

The drink and wine sound fine.

I have been to Callao/Lima.  It was the stepping stone to taking the plane to Cusco and on to Manchu Picchu.

Today we are hoping for a quiet day.

I have not yet wakened DH.  He had a nasty fall last night—and it is all his fault.  He did not turn on lights and then tripped over an area rug.  I just do not understand. I am sure he is going to be sore this morning.  No broken bones but two bruised knees and a bruised ego. Thankfully it is not worse than that.

This morning the phone rang at 8 am.  I am usually awake before then, but not this morning.  It was the eye doctor’s office to tell me that my contact lenses are in and to come pick them up.  Was it necessary to tell me this at 8 am?

Prayers for all on the cares list.

@JazzyV i hope you are feeling bette

@mamaofami I hope Sam continues to improve and there are no more hospital stays;

Prayers always for Baby Murphy and her parents.

and for all others on the Cares list

Cheers to those celebrating.

@grapau27 a. Very Happy Birthday to you.

I am having a hard time with the blue bubbles so I am going to stop.

Hope everyone has a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Good cloudy morning, its supposed to be sunny later today and near 80 again.

My black cats are no longer with me. Salem was named on Halloween night and Ninja was a sweet boy who loved to cuddle.
Birthday blessings to @grapau27. I think a cruise is needed to celebrate.🎉

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.

Good morning from a cloudy but dry central Texas.  It is 75F and feels like 75F.  The humidity is 97% with a dew point of 74F and a 6 mph wind.  The predicted high is 81F with rain predicted to begin about 4pm and lasting through Monday.  Instead of a high of 44F tomorrow it will be 72F with the high Monday being 44F.

I'll celebrate black cats who get an undeserved bad reputation.  American beer is nice, but it doesn't agree with me any more.  I'll also salute the members of the Navy.

An interesting take of vegetarians by David Brenner.

The cauliflower Parmesan would not be a good meal for me, but I have found a Parmesan coated cauliflower that is made for the air fryer.  It mixed with air fryer breaded okra makes a good side dish.  We'll pass on the drink, but the wine sounds interesting.

We have been to Callao and Lima twice.  The first time was in 2001 on Ryndam in the predigital era.  We went to the Cathedral to see the crypts with two of our tablemates.  The second visit was in 2015 on Ruby Princess.  I look for my pictures shortly.

The 1795 Pinkney's Treaty was important for the expansion of the country.  I don't think I've see Rebel Without a Cause.

@aliaschief  Bruce, I like the idea of the ship having a reception for first time Seabourn cruisers.

@Crazy For Cats  Mona is beautiful, Jake.

@smitty34877  Terry, the two black cats in your family are also lovely.

@dfish  Debbie, I'm glad the insurance company got the eye doctor's office to refund your money.  Getting money back from a doctor is never easy.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, I'm glad you got a good night's sleep.  I hope the phone call gets them to send the authorization letter asap.

@Cruzin Terri  Terri, I'm happy that changing some of your DH's meds has helped.  I'm sorry about his fall last night, but glad there are no broken bones.

We have been to Lima twice.  in 2001, on Ryndam, we took a taxi, along with two tablemates, to see the catacombs under the cathedral.  If you have never been to the catacombs they are interesting, but a little creepy.  I won't say any more about them so I won't ruin the first look for anyone.  Unfortunately, that was the last cruise where I still had a film camera.

In 2015, along with @StLouisCruisers Sandi and Dennis on Ruby Princess, we docked in Callao.  That day due to reports of high crime in Lima, we took the shuttle to Miraflores, a resort and beach area outside of Lima.  These are some of my pictures from our day in Miraflores.

This first group of pictures were taken from the shuttle on the way to Miraflores.

For those of us who wanted to convert US dollars into Peruvian Nuevo Sol, the guide from the shuttle led us down the main street until she found the man she was seeking.  She explained that he was a money changer and would give us a good rate.  From what we knew of the exchange rate, we felt we got a fair deal.  From there, we walked down to the Indian Market to look at the native crafts.  The large market that was in the terminal in 2001 had closed by 2015.   Compared to a huge warehouse full of vendors, the Indian Market was small and a disappointment, but it was still interesting.  I think we bought two t-shirts.

Our drop off point was a hotel across from a large open air mall overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  It was a good place to sit and relax, get ice cream and a cold drink.

Since we didn't spend all our Nuevo Sol, and we knew that by the time returned to Peru, the currency would have changed again, we needed to find a way to spend what we had.  There was a casino next to the hotel pick up point, and we figured we would have some fun while getting rid of the money.  Wouldn't you know it, that was the day the slot machines were hot, and I kept winning.  Finally, we switched machines and made our donation to the slot gods.

Callao is the port for Lima.  No matter when you go it will be about an hour ride each direction due to traffic.  We did two HA Shorex, one for a dinner in the oldest house in the city and the other to a museum, a ruins and to a Peruvian Paso farm for lunch.  This is from January 13 when we visited Plaza de las Armas and then walked to the mansion.  Somehow I can't find the interior photos of photos of Casa de Aliaga.  It has me bugged so it will be my project today to find them.  image.thumb.jpg.7959ca96dd302c8778e6618533d15f51.jpg

I “second” the thought of DO NOT DRIVE IN LIMA!   I can honestly say that it is the only place that I have been in an accident whilst in a taxi (in the traffic circle in front of hotel we were staying at).  The two drivers got out, exchanged “words” and everyone went on their way.   Thankfully no injuries.   Stop signs are ignored totally everywhere in Peru.   Red lights are merely a “suggestion “ to slow down.  The only thing that seemed to have any effect were the speed bumps (or risk being thrown from car)

Happened to be there on a land (volunteer) trip, so Callao port was not on the agenda.
today’s meal sounds like a “need to try”.
wine a maybe (prefer white, but it IS wine)

I do believe I heard the quote “in person” at a stand-up show many, many moons ago….interesting…
