luggage question

We’ll get off the cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale at 7am but our flight home isn’t until 7:40pm. So far we have not chosen to rent a car.

What can we do with our luggage while we enjoy the city?

Here’s the ideas I had, are any of these feasible?

- luggage lockers (are there any)?

- rent a car for the day and store luggage in the trunk

- check the luggage in at the airport in the morning and return in the evening for the flight

Any other options?

There are luggage storage options at the Cruise Port and at the Airport.

Just remember that wherever you leave it, you have to get back to that point.

Personally, because the airport is so close to the cruise port, I would jump a shuttle to the airport and dump the luggage there in storage and then go out for the day.  Then you ONLY have to worry about getting back to the airport on time and not a side trip back to the cruise port first.

You could look at a private day tour that you arrange to pick you up from the airport after dropping the luggage and then returning you back to the airport.

I don't have any suggestions, but wanted to welcome you to Cruise Critic!

You might want to browse and/or post to the Florida board:

There is no luggage storage at Port Everglades.  See www.bagstogo.net for information about luggage storage at the airport.

See if your cruise line uses Luggage direct, which will take your luggage and you will next see it at your home airport.

Holland does.  However on my cruise last month the front desk messed up using it and I had to cancel out of it.

Princess does too but with the caveat that not all airlines participate.  The program is called EZ Check.  As I understand it, you will still be burdened with your carry-ons for the day since they are not checked luggage.
